Geralt of Rivia
The Sims 3 ran like sh*t. Period. And after a while, the open world's pathing problems could literally break your game. ...Yeah. Like I said before, the loading screen is in part to make places more populated. The Sims 3 was mostly dead in public places. The Sims 4 isn't Edited September 19, 2014 by TheMasterfocker
Secura
The Sims 3 ran like sh*t for you, not for me, and as for game-breaking, nothing takes me out of a game more than a loading screen every twenty minutes when I need to say go out and do something, besides The Sims 4's whole world is pretty much one big illusion, nothing happens and there's very little development, even the way your Sims leave for work or school just seems wrong after the transport systems that have been in place since The Sims 2. Geralt of Rivia
The Sims 3 ran like sh*t for almost everyone lol. That was one of its biggest complaints And immersion breaking =/= game breaking when looking at it in the overall picture. One is game breaking for a single person, and may not even be game breaking. The other is game breaking for possibly everyone, which is what happened in The Sims 3. Audiophile
I've tried running TS3 on 3-4 different computers. Doesn't matter how good the specs are, runs like sh*t with all the expansions. If you watch LP's it still stutters and gives sh*t performance, granted they are recording but LP'ers have beast PC's. It runs like sh*t for 99% of the people playing it. I have a new PC, fresh Windows 8.1 installation, no clutter yet, fresh install of TS3 + EP's, no custom content....still runs like sh*t. I want to love that game but I just can't stand the stuttering, that breaks immersion for me more than a short loading screen going to a new lot. Cebra
I never knew so many people had problems with TS3. I've had the base game with 6 or 7 expansions on Win 7x64 and now I have it on 8x64 and I've never had any problems. My friend, too, and he has a sh*tty laptop that runs at 1.9GHz. I'm not sure what the problem might be. Edited September 19, 2014 by PhilosophicalZebra
Audiophile
The problem is the game isn't optimized for sh*t. The people for who it runs well are the exception to the rule. I've been through a gaming laptop, 3 desktops since TS3 came out, it ran like sh*t on all of them and they all had varied specs. The latest two of which should have had no issues running TS3 but both run TS4 well. The desktop I have now has the following specs: Windows 8.1 64x 8 GB's RAM Nvidia GTX 750 1GB (which I plan to upgrade soon) Intel i5-4590 at 3.3GHz The ASUS laptop I got back in late 2010 had the following specs: Windows 7 (when I bought it, 8.1 by the end of its use) 6 GB's RAM Nvidia GTX 460M 1.5GB's Intel i7 740QM at 1.73GHz On both configs it stuttered to the point where I gave up because it just killed enjoyment for me. I play with barely any CC, the only CC I had were NRAAS mods that try to clean up the clusterf*ck EA produced and attempt to make the game more playable. I wonder if it would play better if I got a more sh*tty set-up. That or maybe there's a "golden" config that actually is able to run the game without the constant stuttering and 10 + minute loading screens. TS3: Built like a Brick sh*thouse but, you know, not in a good way. Coin
To be honest, I don't find myself travelling between different lots often enough that the loading screens become a problem. Aside from meeting new sims, I don't think any of the community lots (gym, bar, library etc) really offer any specific benefit for going there (but I could be wrong). None of my sims have ever been invited over to another household, either, it's usually them being called up and the sim doing the calling wanting to come over. Wayne Daniels
^ Yeah I don't leave my household, ever. At first I did because I used go work out at the gym because I couldn't afford one at home but now there's no need to travel out. Actually I lied I traveled last night but only to fish for a cow plant.

I imagine sims who pick the mixologist track of the Cooking career probably have to tend bar for awhile. but otherwise you're right. community lots are kind of useless so far. there are no unique 'rabbit holes' like the Tattoo Parlor or Sports Club from TS3. Yeah, it counts, it's just that it'll take a little longer for the "Performances to go up by 1." trip
So... I'm starting to feel a little bit better about this game after finally being able to put some quality time in(and not just little spurts). The size of the lots is staring to make sense to me. Some of the interactions seem more "genuine". Trust me - I have my list of bitches and gripes still(i do for everything), but if I had to pick one it would be the fact that there is more clipping. In the interest of physics realism I would rather a sim bitch and wait for someone to get out of their way rather then have them clip through the corner of the bed, couch, or table...elbows through walls also make me upset. Audiophile
So the devs have announced today that the game will be getting free content updates in patches, some directly per fan feedback in the following: Ghosts (October 1st): Meh. Star Wars Costumes (October 1st): Dgaf. New Gnome (October 1st): Dgaf. New Eye Colors (October 1st): Dgaf. Pools (November 2014): Sweet mother of baby jesus, yes. Careers (December 2014) Sweet mother of baby jesus, yes. Now I am not sure if that's ALL the patches will add, I doubt it, but probably the "major" things. There will likely be more of these content patches but these are the ones announced so far. There is apparently another announcement coming during a LB on Twitch by the devs, so maybe the first EP or they will be announcing the above + more information. Guess we'll see. EDIT: Yeah, the announcement they will be making is going to be related to the patches that are going to be adding new content + game fixes. EDIT 2: Patch is now live. Downloading it now. It's about 228MB's in size. Audiophile
Some more information on the careers coming in the free December content update: They will be adding the Business and Athletic Careers, for sure. I am not sure if these are the only two they will be adding but they are the ones that have been confirmed. Vaughan also offered me a bit more clarity about the new career options that The Sims 4 will get (again, for free for all existing players) next month. Vaughan told me that there will be two new career paths added to the game: “Business” and “Athletic.” As with the current career options, both come with two different branches that Sims can pursue — “management” and “investor” for the business career, and “bodybuilder” or “professional athlete for the athletic career. El Dildo
it's still a ridiculous half-measure that more or less vindicates my point, all along. even now, to wait for something that has always been stock in the base games, the first version is half assed so that you have to wait for another forthcoming expansion. yeah they finally added pools but you don't even get a diving board or a slide. the bare minimum is sacrificed again so that it can eventually be added to - lemme guess - Sims 4 Outdoor Summer Time Seasons Hot Weather Stuff pack or some nonsense. and then oh good, we'll finally get slides and diving boards, after another 3 months of waiting... I understand this was a free update, but it's just so absurd the way EA produces the Sims games. DLC is one thing but this is basic stuff that they simply delete from the game each time they make a sequel. I honestly cannot think of another game or series of games that follows this kind of backwards model. Audiophile
So, two new careers were added back in the December patch (Business and Athlete). Yesterday they also released an almost 500MB patch that added the family tree back and added genealogy. There are now new relationships, such as step-child, etc. The patch also added family leave, changed the UI to make it more streamlined for things like the phone, career screen. (EDIT: to clarify, family leave and the UI changes were in the December patch, not the one from yesterday). Back in January, the first Game Pack was released. These game packs have replaced stuff packs, and content-wise, are between a stuff-pack and an expansion. They offer a lot more content, meaningful content, compared to the crap that was stuff packs in TS3. They are at the same price point. The first one was Outdoor Retreat. I've tried it and it's actually quite good. It is meaningful content so it's definitely an improvement over the cancer that was stuff packs. Added a new location where sims can go camping, essentially on vacation. Herbalism skill, some new foods, objects, etc. The first expansion pack has also been announced. It is coming April 2015. It is titled The Sims 4: Get to Work. It's like a cross between Ambitions/Open for Business. We’re excited to announce our first expansion pack, The Sims 4 Get to Work! With three brand new active careers, each complete with a new fully playable career venue, there are plenty of ways for you to fulfil your Sims ambitions. But that’s not all. You can even create your Sims’ own retail business, taking advantage of your Sims’ skills and hobbies to earn those simoleons. There’s a lot to discover in The Sims 4 Get to Work when it releases in April 2015 but in the meantime, here are seven important things you should know:Be a Doctor: Your Sim can now spend their work day saving lives, treating patients, performing emergency surgery, and for the first time ever, delivering babies!Combat Crime: Investigate crime scenes, interrogate Sims, and arrest criminals while you work your way from Cadet all the way up to the Chief of Police.Experiment and Invent: Scientists spend their days building crazy inventions and collecting unique specimens for diabolical creations like the Sim Ray. Your Sim will have to decide whether they’ll use their inventions to help or torment their fellow Sims. Create Unique Retail Businesses: Create any number and type of retail business you want, including bakeries, clothing boutiques, art galleries, bookstores, and much more. You can customize every facet of your business with Build Mode; select what items to sell, manage your employees, and even upsell customers!New Career Venues: All new career venues and neighborhoods like the Hospital, Police Station, and Science Lab are fully stocked with brand new objects to help your Sims achieve success! Or head down to the Retail District to check in on the many retail businesses you’ve created and find your Sims true calling.Learn New Skills: Check out a whole new set of skills that will allow your Sims to create even more unique objects. Sims can now capture the picture-perfect photo or bake and decorate a delicious treat with the new Photography and Baking skills. Whatever your Sims make can be proudly displayed at home or sold to earn a few extra Simoleons.Discover Aliens: Aliens have landed and walk amongst us! Eurotrash
Of all the things in this world, this makes you lose faith in humanity? You must lead a pretty sheltered life. People did buy the game and people who gave it a chance, do enjoy it. I don't get all the hate for this series. Hate for the series? I'm a long time fan of the series. If I weren't, you think I'd be so upset about this? I think Call of Duty games are a rip off, but I don't say anything on the subject because I couldn't care less about Call of Duty. So frgive me for looking down on people who buy a game that costs just as much as it's predecessor but is inferior in every single way, and lacks pretty much every major feature that the last two installments brought to the table as well as a few that were in the series from the start. And no I don't give a damn that they brought some back through updates, for all I know they could've been stripped from the game on purpose, just to win you over when they release them "for free". But hey, everyone makes mistakes. God knows I've made this one, the difference is that I've never bought a game that was known to be inferior long before release. Maxis had made it clear as daylight that The Sims 4 won't even be a third the size of it's predecessor even before release, under the pretext that they were trading quantity for quality (a promise that never came true, The Sims 4 is just as buggy as The Sims 3 and 2 were at launch). So yeah, forgive me for disliking gullible consumers who mindlessly spend $60 more on a game than it's truly worth. EDIT: Lols nevermind. Realized you're just a forum troll. Ah "you're a troll", the classic label to throw at someone you disagree with when you don't have a legitimate accusation to throw at them. Typical.
