Geralt of Rivia
My wife is pregnant with her second child. Almost in her third trimester. She's currently also working on a video game. Tobias, my first child, is doing well. I'm making him the dumb jock. I think I'm going to make my other child a smart, creative person or something. I gotta enable aging again. I want my Sims to actually die now lol. I almost always turn off aging, but not anymore. Raises are starting to get better. Now making $44 an hour, but am also working 1 less hour. Gonna have to move soon. The house I'm currently in won't be able to fit 2 children. Wayne Daniels
Detective Phelps
Take Grand Theft Auto V, did you boycott that because of missing features from two games previous such as: go karts, flame throwers, casinos, jet pack, ability to have girlfriends, ability to burgle houses ect? I think not.... Go karts, burglary and jetpacks were only in GTA:SA, so I don't mind. As for flamethrowers, they will probably add it in a FREE update, with the other features, so I don't mind (unlike EA, who will charge an extortionate fee for more content). Some of the missing features are in the first Sims game. That's like GTA VI prohibiting you to go on-foot, or prohibiting you from killing peds. TS4 is missing fundamental features I expect from a Sims game. Anyway, my friend will give me the game later on today, so I'll see if the changes are worth it or not. Geralt of Rivia
You do remember that EA gave a bunch of stuff through free updates for The Sims 3, including basements, right? You know, same stuff that was on that list of missing features. I'm also sure that some of it was only in a single game. C'mon man. (If I'm right, nevermind if I'm wrong lol.) Anyway, I think a better comparison to GTA would be the jump from SA to IV. Edited September 12, 2014 by TheMasterfocker Audiophile
Audiophile
I'm not quite used to playing TS4 on a 27' monitor yet. I'm not used to the monitor at all yet. Big jump from 13' and 15' laptop screens. Pleased to say it runs well on my new PC and I did notice a jump in performance. TS3 still runs like sh*t LOL. Well to be fair, I didn't give it a real chance yet. Loading times DID improve but the game still seems to stutter once I loaded it up with 5 + EP's installed, no CC, and started in Isla Paradisio or whatever it's called. Which is quite stuttery to begin with. I only had it on for maybe 2 minutes. I don't think I can go back to TS3 despite it having more content and an open world. It's just too stuttery for me, I can't stand it. Detective Phelps
@TMF I'm playing it now. So far, it's pretty decent, if you ignore the missing features. However, I don't like the loading screens. As for "rabbit holes", they are buildings where you apply for jobs, and work, e.g the police station. Franceska
I got this game even though I planned on skipping, currently busy building a night club It runs nicely smooth, I don't care about the loading screens as it's like Sims 2 where I could have about 10 people on 1 lot in my mall, whereas in Sims 3 I only saw a few people in the gym, library was often a ghost location, hardly saw people in the park.. I'm playing on a laptop and it runs really smooth even without being in laptop mode One thing that I noticed is a bug with windows ad lamps I could move my window to a location where a lamp already was (wall lamp) and it allowed me to (even though it shouldn't do this without a moveobjects cheat)
Geralt of Rivia
if you ignore the missing features. That's what I mean when I say: "Judge it for what it is, not for what it isn't" However, I don't like the loading screens. The loading screens allow public places to be actually populated though, unlike the Sims 3. It also helps immensely with performance. I'll post this again: http://i.imgur.com/vSFCCWZ.png You won't get that in The Sims 3. Although you don't like the loading screens, you understand why they're there and how it ultimately makes the game better, right? As for "rabbit holes", they are buildings where you apply for jobs, and work, e.g the police station. Ah. Ok. Never heard that term before lol. Fallcreek
if you ignore the missing features. That's what I mean when I say: "Judge it for what it is, not for what it isn't" I respect with what you're saying; but I disagree. You're telling us that we shouldn't judge The Sims 4, even though it's the fourth entree into the series. It's a great game; don't get me wrong, but it's just a weak base game. It's literally a foundation for it's future expansions. Anyways, it is what it is, right? trip
What happened to my guitar? I moved it and was guessing at the keys to rotate it and this is what happened. I didn't look but is there a scale object kind of key/mouse combo? In order to scale items, you do not need to enter any cheats into the console. When you have an object selected, simply hit: SHIFT + ] to scale up, and hit: SHIFT + [ to scale the item back down (it can not go smaller than its original size). Hope this helps. trip 1 Intel i5-4590 3.3GHz | EVGA GTX 1080 SC 8GB | 16GB Corsair Vengeance RAM | MSI Z97 G-45Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD and Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD | Audioengine A2 Speakers Corsair K70 RGB Rapidfire | Corsair M65 Mouse | Fractal Design R5 Case | EVGA G2 850WAudio-Technica M50x Headphones and Sennheiser HD 558 | LG 34UC88 1440p Ultrawide Curved Monitor
trip
Groovy. Thanks. The few yt videos I watched had me thinking it would be a useful feature...not for guitars though. Can I bitch about the guitar for a second? You can play for tips still but it isn't a listed action option. You have to pick 'jam'. My compliant is you no longer have the opened guitar case (you know, for people to throw tips into) but sims still animate like they are bending down and throwing money into a guitar case. Geralt of Rivia
My second child, Byron, is now a child. He's an artist like his father. I think I'm going to try for one more baby, and am hoping to get a girl. 3 boys would be a nightmare.
Wayne Daniels
Sounds good master focker. Things are starting to work out for me and I'm in a good place. My son is doing well at school. My main guy is a stay at home gardener ( just got a cow plant wooo it's so cool), my wife is the highest level in her author career making over $400 an hour (she only works 2 days a week) and have $7000 a day coming in from book royalties. Just starting to add a second story. Might have another kid, not sure yet...their pretty annoying the only reason I would do it is to keep the money in the family for when his parents die. OysterBarron
I'm sure I read somewhere that sims couldn't die on community lots? Well I took my preggerz bird on a hot date to a bar sweeten her up for some preggerz woohoo . All was going fine chatting to loads of people at the bar then all of a sudden some bloke standing close to the bar just flat out died while in conversation with other sims. Death turned up to the bar and everyone was crying being sad and mourning the death of this person right infront of the bar. It was a serious mood killer my sims were sad as fook. OysterBarron
Honestly I've no real idea, I was busy in the action menu making chat requests with my sims. Suddenly I hear some commotion and saw the bloke fall over and never get up. All I know is was he had just got there from the street and was in mid conversation with another sim who had walked in. Secura
The problem with this game is that they got the core mechanics so wrong but seem to have blundered when it comes to nearly every other aspect of The Sims.

Secura
The lack of the open world for example, or the completely ridiculous loading screens when you enter a different Sims house, or the fact that Sims don't really do anything but age, inevitably it ends up feeling very artificial and I can't for the life of me figure out why EA and Maxis thought that this design was in any way smart. Geralt of Rivia
The lack of the open world for example, or the completely ridiculous loading screens when you enter a different Sims house, or the fact that Sims don't really do anything but age, inevitably it ends up feeling very artificial and I can't for the life of me figure out why EA and Maxis thought that this design was in any way smart. The lack of story progression is the only bad thing there. Open world is a part of what made The Sims 3 run like sh*t, and is what made it dead all the time. Now, with the loading screens (Which take just as long, if not less time, than riding in a car to go somewhere in The Sims 3), places are more populated, the game runs great, and save times are substantially lower. Secura
The loading times I wouldn't mind in the little neighbourhoods if they had a reason for existing, so far as I can tell they don't, everything in the houses seems fully rendered from the start so that argument gets chucked out the window with the utmost immediacy. As for the open world, or in this case lack thereof it doesn't make any sense, The Sims 3 ran decently on my old machine back in 2009 so explain to me why a similarly sized open world can't work when we're five years more advanced technologically? There was so much potential for improvement but they threw it away, as most game developers tend to do when the publisher panics about accessibility.
