Wayne Daniels
Hmm seems the more money my sims earn, te higher my bills, and I don't have any new electronics or anything new for that matter. Seems to be more like tax than anything. Anyone notice this? Also my gf may need to quit her job and work out full time...she's getting so fat. Geralt of Rivia
Lol my wife finally gave birth, and returned to form. Never had extra baby weight. Now she hacks, makes plugins, mods, and creates viruses for money. Also freelance. She has time.since she doesn't have to care for little Tobias all the time anymore (he's a kid now). Wayne Daniels
Any way I can pick up my entire house and move it and just plop it on a bigger lot? Spent a while getting my sims to the highest career levels and making a f*ck ton of money a day and I've renovated my home and I love it, don't want a new house just a bigger lot. Rebel
Don't think you can do that no. From what I've seen there's not even an option to add in bigger lots either. So you're stuck with those like 20x20 lots or whatever they are unless you go to another town where they are like 20x40.

Detective Phelps
Is this any good? (never played a sims game before) EA decided to focus on "emotions" this time, and the gameplay is good, according to some here. However, EA removed a lot of features found in previous games, including swimming pools and toddlers (for a "life simulation" game, that's not good). They also removed cars and there are fewer jobs than in previous Sims games. You can't be a cop, or a Doctor. The open world was also removed. Some like this, others don't. But as I said in the beginning of my post, the gameplay is supposedly good. You can multitask more, you can have conversations with more than 2 people, and the building tool has improved, according to people who have played the game. EA might release the missing content in expansion packs, but why pay for content that should've been in the game in the first place? If you want a Sims game, I recommend you to get 2 or 3, not 4. Geralt of Rivia
If you want a game that can actually run without problems, get 4. The core game, to me, is the best with 4, and since you never played a Sims game before, that's what's important.
El Dildo
Is this any good? (never played a sims game before) if you've never played any Sims before, you will enjoy #4. it's like a reboot for the entire series. all core mechanics reworked and the visual theme completely overhauled. it's probably the most polished Sims game. since you have nothing to compare it to, you won't be missing anything. trip
The 'wow' factor of this Sims? It doesn't run like sh*t. I noticed that you like that [it can run on most computers] argument. For me that argument/feature doesn't wow me since I've never had complaints about performance with the previous releases. I run with almost all expansions and high as high can be settings. So I still hold onto my feeling that this release of TS is missing something....missing that "wow" of a new TS release...missing that "something new" that I've come to expect in the numbered TS releases. You sound like a broken record with the pools and toddlers, lol. And whilst you are correct that there are less jobs, there are more career paths *total* available to you than there are in Sims 3 vanilla. Let's only focus on how they removed police and doctor, but leave out that they've added stuff like astronauts and tech guru jobs instead.

Just because your computer has the Golden Hardware of the Gods doesn't mean others don't have problems ($10 if you get that reference). In all seriousness, the Sims 3 does run like sh*t for the majority, even without expansions. It takes over a minute of loading time alone on an HDD to even get into a game on The Sims 3 without expansions. Remember, that's loading alone. That's not counting going through the menu. In that time, I loaded up Sims 4, had my guy eat breakfast, and had him start a painting. And it runs smooth all the way through. I use that argument because it's a valid argument. It's a huge plus for The Sims 4. It's something that greatly exceeds its predecessor.
trip
I hear ya. I know of the chug issues with TS3 all loaded up with expansions and running on an average off the shelf computer. Naturally I'm happy to see the game preform better on a wider range of systems. But hear me with this question for a sec; What about this version has "wowed" you? Trust me. I'm not knocking the game and I'm sure I'll be playing TS4 for years to come. I followed development of TS1 from before it had a name and was just an architecture game Will Wright was dreaming up. When TS1 came out it was ground breaking. TS2...holy sh*t this is what TS1 wanted to be and even better because you can see the fingers on your sims hands. TS3 pulled off a near open world that had a life of its own. The "We omitted some stuff and scaled it down in order to run better on more computers" is the company line from EA. I kind of expect my numbered releases of any series by any developer to run better than any of its predecessors. Again...I'm not at all knocking the game and I'm genuinely curious as to what "wows" you with this release. Sims3 over a minute loading time just to get into the game...holy sh*t for sure. It takes freaking minutes. That is by far my biggest complaint about TS3 e:: Hey is the golden hardware of the gods from south park when Kenny has to play heaven vs hell on the golden psp? Geralt of Rivia
What about this version 'wowed' me? Not much. Nothing ever really 'wows' me in video games. It's mainly me thinking something is awesome. That being said, some things did 'wow' me. 1) Character creation. Hnnngg. 2) Build mode. I've barely done it, but it's neat, effective, and it works great. 3) Multitasking. Again, hnnngg. Things that I think are awesome: 1) Emotions. They add a whole new dynamic to the game. Your emotions affect everything in your life. Confident? Draw a confident painting. Embarrassed? Go hide in bed. Sad? Tell a Sim all of your problems. 2) Sims must take a pregnancy test now to determine if they're pregnant. 3) Pregnant Sims go through trimesters. The further along they are, the more their bladder shrinks, the more they eat, the bigger their stomachs are, and the bigger their breasts are. And it's not a set model, either. Every Sim will have a different size. 4) The careers. They're new, and they all branch. I love that things like painting and writing are careers now. 5) Because the game is no longer open world, areas are a lot more populated. http://i.imgur.com/vSFCCWZ.png That would never happen in The Sims 3 6) No more toddlers. f*ck toddlers. Hate them. So glad they're gone. That is just off the top of my head. ------------------------------------ You're right that the reference is from South Park, but it's not that. It's when Michael Jackson took over Ike's body. In the episode, people eat Chipotle, and crapped blood. Stan ate Chipotle, and never crapped blood. Cartman told Stan he has the Golden Anus of the Gods or something along those lines. Ezza.
I played a little on a friends computer at work and lemme just say, that even on a sh*tty laptop, it runs like a dream. I like the emotions too, now my sims seem like people not bland automatons. It's as if they've taken the best from the Sims 2 and The SIms 3, cutting out the unnecessary bits that users didn't like, and made an ultimate game. Only problem with the emotions is that my Sim never feels "Confident" around women. Ever. *Sigh*
Detective Phelps
Let's only focus on how they removed police and doctor, but leave out that they've added stuff like astronauts and tech guru jobs instead. You can be an astronaut in TS3 as well. Military level 10 (or was it 11?). You can't be a professional sports player, you can't be a businessman with multiple businesses, or a Journalist, or a politician, or a Scientist, and you can't join the army in TS4. (1 or 2 of these might be wrong, so feel free to correct me) As for the pool and toddlers, that isn't all. There is no CASt, no basements, no burglars, no cars, no curfew for teens, no rabbit holes, no grocery stores, cribs, and no restaurants. But sure, go ahead and defend this game. EA has taken a massive step backwards, IMO. "Emotions" are not enough. There needs to be more. Some of you are happy that toddlers have been removed, but I thought that this was a "life simulator"? Babies don't just miraculously skip past a stage of their lives. There aren't any rabbit holes (as I've said above), so you can't see your Sim get to work, or school. And how do EA respond? A dev says that there won't be a Sims 5 if 4 doesn't succeed. That's like saying "buy this, or else". By removing more than 80 features (some found in the first game), EA have ensured that most fans will ignore 4. I was originally excited for the game, but then I changed my mind, when I found out that EA took a step backwards. If they make a Sims 5, (and I hope they do) I might get it. It will have to be an improvement over TS3, though. theNGclan
Geralt of Rivia
You're doing everything wrong: 1) You're judging the game for what is isn't, instead of what it is. 2) You're looking at the game through a spreadsheet that has no reasonings. Geralt of Rivia
What is the game? It's the classic Sims, but with core features revisited and greatly improved. It's basically a reboot of the series. It has a new art style as well. By spreadsheet with no reasoning, I mean listing off features that are gone without listing the reasons why. CASt, for example, was a big reason The Sims 3 ran like dogsh*t. Same with open world. Basements and pools are gone due to the new engine. I have no idea why you listed curfew for teens. That was also awful. Thank Christ that's gone. I don't know what a rabbit hole is lol. The crib is now a basinet. Same thing. Now, for the burglars, grocery stores and restaurants, etc. Yes, those aren't in the game. Yes, that's disappointing to some. My guess is those were not included because of time constraints. However, those features aren't essential. Sims 4 has gotten mostly positive praise. I've seen lots of people call it the best Sims base game. You should play it. And not just for 20 minutes at a friend's house. -------------------------- I also think the list is unfair. It lists things that wasn't in the base game of some games, and it also lists things that were in The Sims 1. I mean, come on. Really? Do you attack CoD MW3 for stuff it doesn't have from Modern Warfare? I also didn't see a list like this come up when going to The Sims 3 from The Sims 2. Wonder why? Also, some things were just wrong. Like: No modifications to world/public spaces - False No bartender (as NPC) - False No cribs - False And then there's just other stupid sh*t that's there to just add a number to that list and further the EA circlejerk.
