Saintdestroyer
My only concern for them not waiting those extra 4 or so months to port it to the next gen consoles is purely frame rate related. We all remember GTA IV, great game but sometimes the frame rate just went to sh!t and it would annoy the hell out of people. For them to come out and say "Theres plenty of power left in these machines" they best give us a decent clip otherwise that plenty of power they have to offer will only give us a slide show for their awesome content. poklane
Yeah me too. Yesterday I ran over a few pedestrians and cops with my car while my friend was shooting rockets and it was lagging as f*ck.

Happyness
It was their first time using RAGE, as time passes each company is getting more experienced in their engine of choice, thus making it well optimized.
d3ex2
20-30 fps if we're lucky (On consoles) Don't consoles have a lock at 30fps so I'd be happy with that I doubt it will be a constant 30fps but I hope it's at least 25fps. It was their first time using RAGE, as time passes each company is getting more experienced in their engine of choice, thus making it well optimized. Exactly. IV was over 5 years ago. RAGE has improved a lot. Redemption had a really smooth frame rate on PS3. I know it's not exactly the same because they are two different games. V will push these consoles to the absolute limit. I just hope it has a smooth frame rate. I'd take a hit in graphics because lagging just ruins gameplay which is more important than graphics. TakinThyBacon
I really think with them having gotten much more familiar with the Rage engine, we will see a much smoother and more polished experience. My real concern is that they gave up draw distance to compensate for the lag.
Shaunr
its probably going to be like RDR. only brief lag when there's a bunch of explosions.
Happyness
I think it will be a little bit more smoother than RDR was.
iNero
lol 20-30 and I wouldnt touch it. staple 30. Far Cry 3 is already alot less fun cause the frame rate is sub 30 constantly ( which is stated) FC3 was a FPS though. might be less dramatic in TPS. But u can imagine how bad the framerate will drop in a police chase or shootout when the frame rate is already bad when just walking around the city
SlappyPwnsAss
But most previews said there was no lag at all in the demos they saw, and they thought it was weird because normally there is since were still 4 months away from the release of the game. BUT THE BENZ
I can't wait for the next gen consoles so this "let's reach at least 30 fps" mentality bullsh*t finally is over. Not really worried about V's performance though. It will be similar to RDR, as in okay. Considering the world we're going to roam in this is totally acceptable

iNero
RDR level would be ok. But I dont want GTA4 level at all. Framerate drops on every shootout with police is just annoying
TheQuestfor100Percent
I'm glad I don't notice these kinds of things. Never noticed IV running slow or choppy. Oh well.
Frantz Fuchs
Look how good Red Dead's graphics are; and it had very little/no lag at all. If you have a 360, install all the discs, it GREATLY reduces loading/lag.
Rizaki Koizumi
it GREATLY reduces loading/lag. That is true, and I believe you can play the game even if the disc itself got wrecked, but was not wrecked to the point where the Xbox couldn't read it. On topic... From watching the trailers, and seeing how much Rockstar improved in utilising RAGE this generation, I have belief that GTA V will run smooth as butter, albeit capped at 30fps. Sure we all haven't seen actual gameplay (and most likely we won't until the YouTube videos start popping up after Sept. 17th), but this game looks way more improved from GTA IV. Oh well. amen brother. i rarely saw major lag or really even minor lag on ps3 Most don't pay attention to this stuff because they don't care. If they can play it, they'll play it. Simple as that. I have noticed some lag and drops in frame rate on PS3, but it only happens when you're doing more intense stuff like blowing up cop cars with an RPG I have lower standards (Played SA on a PC with an Intel 82845G iGPU), so as long as fps don't dip below 10, I'm good. iNero
watch this: especially on 3:14 you can see pretty good how low the framerate goes in shootouts. even the gunsound has some synch propblems then. not heavy but noticeable. nontheless, you can see why i did never go for shootouts in IV

I can guarantee you that the sound is out of sync due to an issue when uploading that video to youtube.
southparkmayor
to the guy that said Cod runs at 60 fps. it only runs at that framerate because the native resolution is something like 1000 by 560 and the engine is old and kind of "archaic" so there is not much power needed. It's also the same engine treyarch and infinity ward have been using since cod 2 so they optimized it for current gen consoles over the years. GTAfan786
It will be 30 fps. IV was their FIRST HD GTA of this gen, OF COURSE there is going to be problems. Look at RDR, it barely or even had NO lags at all.

GKP
FPS rate was f*cking horrific on the consoles. Better in MP as you can turn traffic and peds down. 30FPS , dont make laugh, it REGULARLY fell to 15fps and not just in firefights/explosions. Look at the GTAIV trailers...even the custscenes in game microstuttered. The recent trailers for V are noticeably smoother...as was the 2nd V trailer compared to the first. PPL must be fking BLIND not too see that IV lags like a mofo.
