Question about the basketball bug

I have a 100%'d save file which I've overwritten at Madd Dogg's mansion several times, because back then I was unaware of the fact that saving there renders the basketball courts inoperable. After that, I overwrote it at the Johnson House, where it is currently saved.

I've recently re-installed GTA:SA, to get rid of the b-ball glitch.

My question is: if I load the save file mentioned above, will it make the b-ball courts useless again?

I don't know if the glitch will still appear, but most probably it still will. I suggest you check it out. If it still persists, you can fix this bug by going to this site, select the glitch you want to fix, in this case the second option where it says "Basket Ball ( No Ball At Court )" and then browse for your save file, click "Upload & Repair" and now click on the link saying "Click here to download" at the "Repaired File" line. After that, simply put your save file back in the San Andreas User Files folder, and the bug should have gone away. Good luck.

Thanks for that, but does saving at Madd Dogg's corrupt the save file or the game files? If it corrupts the game files, it is useless to fix the save using that website after the glitch occurs.

The glitch should be only in the Save, else going to a save prior to the glitch wouldn't work.

It'll only affect the save file. That site actually fixes the Basketball bug by moving the saving diskette from Madd Dogg's crib in a different location (same mansion, just in a different room). So, fix the bug for your current save file, and it won't re-occur on this save file, but it will on another. It's the game files, not the save game itself. You can fix the save file, but not the game files.

If you use PS2, the only way to fix it (besides starting a new file) is the Basketballs Fixed code by OrionSR. You'll need a cheat device (Codebreaker, Gameshark, Action Replay Max) to activate it; it's not a button cheat.

@miromiro: thank you for the link. It totally worked. I've fixed the save file, than I loaded it and now I can play basketball on it again.

Since there was (originally) supposed to be a basketball court at Madd Doggs mansion, I think saving there alters the global variables, thus triggering the bug.
