C4P0N3
Well, I don't have to buy guns. There are plenty of melee weapons. And maxing out is not required to use the gun whenever you want. Cars would use gas whether or not you're going. Ammo is enough. I don't need gas bothering me too. Not everyone likes being stranded in the middle of nowhere, you know. So I don't think forcing it on everyone would be a good idea. u dont have to use guns there are melee weapons? come on... with that logic i could say u dont have to drive u could walk... dont take my arguments especially the example of buyin guns and max out ammo word by word! try to get my point instead u act like u would need to refuel ur car every 5 minutes that will 4 sure not be the case and if ur runnin low on gas and take a trip to the desert its ur fault if u get stranded and if u do what would be SO bad about it? the unplanned and unexpexted and improvising to manage such situations is fun... and if the ammo is bothering u so much allready u couldnt handle soft fuel management u wont be happy about that in V u will have to get medkits or food to bring up your health from 50% to 100% u know? i tell u refueling ur car WILL be in V allmost 100% period. Canes21
I find it ironic a guy named racecarlock is the one guy bashing this idea to pieces. You're cracking me up man, but I'm not laughing with you. Honestly, I would enjoy seeing this make it into the game, but I don't see Rockstar doing it in V. I don't think people really think this through either when they bash it. It's not like you would have to fuel up every single time you drove a car. Heck, I can go 350 miles in my car before I have to fuel up. That's literally once a week. Unless you just have terrible luck or drive the same car around every single time you play this game, then you're not going to have to fuel up hardly ever. And if you are that guy who does drive around in the same car for 40 straight in game days, you probably are the same guy who would enjoy this feature, and if you somehow are that guy, but don't enjoy the feature, my best guess is you're probably in the minority in that subgroup and when it comes to mass media, the majority is who is pleased in situations like this. However, I don't really feel the majority wants this feature, nor do they not want it. I bet most people who buy GTA are not going to care one bit if there is no fuel, and if it happened to appear, then most people will find it a cool little feature just like in Mafia II. And in the two times I beat Mafia II, I never fueled up one time in that game and I'm the type of guy who plays these games and never steals a car. Yea, it's grand theft auto and I don't steal cars. I will with Trevor that is for sure, but with Franklin and Michael I will be using public transportation or my legs if I do not have my own vehicle to drive. But that is an entirely different topic. And to the scenario of running out of gas mid police chase, that sounds exciting. I still remember playing Red Dead, doing a bounty mission, having a snake kill my horse, being in the night time, losing the bounty, and not being able to call my horse for a good amount of time and trekking through the desert on foot at night and fighting off some wolves before I was back in Armadillo and bought myself a new horse because I also never stole horse in that game unless it was night time and no one would witness my act. And if my horse died like it did, I never just called for a new magical one after the time reset. But that's just how I play these games. I see excitement in a feature like this. Something not overdone, though. If all pedestrian cars were programmed to have random amounts of gas, but never below 25%, this feature would be nice and you'd hardly ever run out of gas mid police chase unless you literally went on an 80+ mile police chase, and if that was to happen, it would already be pretty sweet and adding the empty car into the mix would just take it over the top in my eyes. Canes21
I don't get what you're offering. No one here is in charge of what happens, so it's not like I have to compromise with you. Obviously options are usually the best thing to do, so I would be happy with that, but either way I think most people will be perfectly happy with whatever Rockstar does. Ex Hellraiser
The logic (or lack thereof) of some people here frightens me. What fun is it to be forced to stop your car, sit there, pay money, only to continue driving? Why not have it be as simple as it was before, where you... well, just keep driving! Realism is a good thing, until it begins to take away from the fun. Fueling up offers no advantage to a situation, only disadvantages. You wasted 2 minutes sitting in place to make your car last through the police chase until it explodes? Good for you! I don't wish to sit for the two minutes in order to do something that required no waiting in the past. If I want to get in a cop chase, I'll just shoot a cop. I don't wish to second guess running people over, because of the possibility of running out of fuel and dying during the impending police chase. I don't wish to be nearing the edge of the wanted zone, only for my car to die, and every cop within 2 miles converge on my exact coordinates. It just isn't worth it. If gas was such a revolutionary, advantageous idea, why has it not been implemented in GTA yet? Oh yeah, that is right. Because it sucks. If we were to get fuel, all you idiots who wanted it will be the first ones to complain when you are in the middle of a desert, and the one single car that comes your way only has enough gas to go another 100 feet. You will be the first ones to complain that your nearly impossible-to-get Hydra ran out of fuel, causing your aircraft to stall out and hit the skyscraper you were about to fly over. And, you will be the first to complain when you are out in the middle of the ocean, and your jetski runs out of gas, requiring you to swim all the way to shore, unable to commit suicide. I will not shed a single tear for those of you.

What I mean is that at least making it optional would satisfy everyone. I would turn it off, but you would turn it on. It makes the most sense. You could get all of your situations, and I could avoid them because I find them frustrating and I would be able to turn them off.

Canes21
And I don;t think anyone would be against that. The IQ level of this forum can drop to some low levels at times, but I think everyone here has the common sense to realize options are pretty much always a great thing even with little details like this. And sorry if I come off aggressive, I don't have a problem with you or anyone here, I just type aggressive.

Actually I like the idea of it being optional because everyone wins that way. As for health, meh, I just use the cheats. I still think the magical health regenerating food should stay though, but also hospitals should offer medical services in case one wants to do it the "Realistic" way. I will not shed a single tear for those of you. We lack logic yet you are the guy not even saying it's something that should have an option. No, you're the guy who is saying we;re idiots and this is no fun. Okay, for you, this won't be fun. For racecarlock, this won't be fun. If we have an option, you can turn it off. I for one love the idea of running out of fuel at midnight in the desert. The chances of that happening are miniscule unless Rockstar made the game unrealistic and cars only could go 30-40 miles before needing a refuel, but even then, the average GTA'er doesn;t even drive 30-40 miles in a car, and if to avoid AI cars from being low, Rockstar could easily program it to never be below 25% when you hijack a car. But I think arguing over a topic such as this is just silly. We aren't really going to gain anything from it. We're not like a mapping thread and producing anything for these forums. We should all be able to use common sense, agree on an option and let a topic like this die.

TJtheS2000fan
Quite honestly I like the idea of an added challenge with gas in the game- especially since the cops won't automatically find you like they did in GTA IV. Think about it; you run out of gas in the middle of the city, and are forced to run and hide in apartment buildings to escape the five star wanted level you have accrued. Seems fairly exhilarating and an added challenge when facing the cops. It's not like we wouldn't have to switch cars anyways when we beat it half to hell. TRANEMing
Optional will be the best... I would like to try fueling car for a few time just for enjoying the new feature....but not enjoy it when I stuck in the middle of nowhere with a car that I'd found for hours because of running out of gas..
