If people pay 60,- for all those ''normal'' simple games like Fifa and stuff... Then I think this game is worth around 500,- in reasonable comparison, even more perhaps!

I was thinking the same thing. R* puts all this time and effort to make this game totally awesome. But it'll get the same amount of money for a game like 'made-in-one-week-copy-paste' cod.

Yep.. and that's why GTA sales go to about 20-30 million copies while Fifa and others manage to sell up to 5 million copies. Of course there are other franchises that sell like GTA (eg. Sims)

I feel the same way! I even feel a little bad about only paying $60 for it. I am so grateful that Rockstar continues this business model of investing so much money in one project. I'd gladly pay $100 for it.

 

Their business model is good, though. Even though a company like Activision can churn out games every year that sell on par with GTA, and probably cost less to develop, there are only so many companies that are capable of doing that. Rockstar found its niche, and fortunately for us, that niche is incredible games of staggering scope and detail, even if they only come out every few years.

 

I think I may buy whatever expensive Limited Edition they sell since it's easy to justify the cost of a GTA release in my mind.

There's actually no game I'm looking forward too since GTA V.

And the only games I really like come from Rockstar these days.

Yeah i do see ya point, thought about this several times. I play PES which is just a copy and paste job with a few extras which i buy every year but hey gta and pes is the only games i really play.

And you know there has got to be some people on here who have bought every game in the AC, FIFA etc franchise & have complained that some feature is missing from V.

 

There are too many games being released & it's swamping the market. Just like it did in the early 80's before the crash. The cost of development is spiralling out of control, shareholders expect ever increasing returns & that's why we get shoddy business practices like on disc dlc, micro transactions etc.

 

Imagine if every game had the same value for money as GTA V.

Yeah OP has a point. I recently bought a baseball game for $60 and that's obviously not as much content and value as GTA V if you compare the price per content ratio of a game like COD and apply it to GTA V it would be like $500. So thank you rockstar for giving us a deal and keeping GTA cheap even though its worth a whole lot more.
