SantosGTA
When you first buy the game and load it up, you click the pause button to check out the map only to find that you cant see undiscovered areas. I think it would add to the fun I mean completely hidden, not black n white like in SA. Edited May 6, 2013 by SantosGTA

DODI3OG
Had you ever played San Andreas? Why do you have that eye as your Avatar? What is the relation of the undiscovered areas of the map being a surprise to playing GTA SA? It's *HAVE
Graven
I second this idea. Slap in the face. SA kinda had it, but it was visible.

But yes, I hope they do it full on, Red Alert style... would be really cool to not know where I'm going at all at the start. zainzombie
Um.. I for one would like it. Exploring map to unlock the map was one of the most fun parts in Assassins Creed 1/2. But I dont think thats happening because: 1. The entire map is available from the start. 2. Switching characters who live in different areas. martinhj
Rockstar said that the hole map will be available from the start so you don't need to find/discover area's, we don't have to unlock areas as in past GTA games.

What's the relation between GTA and Assassin's Creed that it urged you to post about the latter here? 1. The entire map is available from the start. Of course it's available from the start. But covering undiscovered areas is the point we're talking about here. I second this idea. Slap in the face.SA kinda had it, but it was visible. Can you please tell us why you disagree? I disagree as well. But, I'm just curious about your idea.

But I dont think it will happen. Plus when they say that "entire map is available from the beginning" but you cant see the entire map in the game.... thats stupid. gta5freemode4eva
Just because the whole map (playable area) is open from the start, the map in the pause menu may still be blank apart from the area you start in. I would prefer this as you would need to explore to uncover it. If it is all viewable then it'd just be like buying a road map so I'm not really bothered anyways. We can always not look at it. So OT no I don't think it would be a big troll. Edited May 6, 2013 by gta5freemode4eva
BoyzNGroveStreet
I'm sure there will be 'hidden' things underwater, like treasure and what not you have to find yourself, like they said in the previews.
d3ex2
I don't know...I suppose it would be alright and a nice way to make sure that you visit every part of the map. The thing is that Michael lives in Rockford Hills, Franklin in South Los Santos and Trevor in Blaine County. Maybe there be spots (where their houses are) that a clear when you first load up and as you travel those bit of the map will be shown. I don't think they will do it though because all 3 seem to have lived there a while so surely they know their way about. Also, what really is the point (apart from getting people to travel everywhere)?? They'll give us a map with the game so we'll be able to see it all anyway. I always pin maps on the wall around my TV so I can easily see it.
jamieleng
Looking at the map & then discovering what is actually there are two completely different things. There is no way you can tell what you're going to find when you actually visit a place you have eyed on the map. I don't think it's needed. It does not matter if you can see the map or not as you still have to go there to see whats on the map, so shroud would be pointless. Besides i like the idea of being able to see everything anyway, the first thing i am going to do is get a car and drive from one end to the other and then back again. I cannot wait to explore the mountains, forest and even the ocean.
5000 Staples
GTA5 will come with an in-case map/poster anyway.
Majestic81
Im glad the map is fully open from the start. exploring clubs, houses or whatever establishments they have in the game could still be fun. im sure these things wont be marked on our map straightway.
