So about that IFruit

I heard somewhere that the IFruit is going to play a major role in GTA 5 well that gives me shivers and for a good reason too.

 

'Want to go bowling?'

 

See how annoying that was?

 

In GTA San Andreas, we also got annoying phone calls, particularly from Catalina and from Cesar on occasion about that damn yay shipment. 'Not right now, got too much sh*t on ma plate.'

 

San Andreas actually, well, it wasn't THAT bad.

It had a balance to it, from getting annoying then backing off and giving us a break. It worked.

 

GTA IV - Goes without saying, Roman needed to die everytime he bothered us on the phone.

It was bizarre to get texts from him during a heli flight about some nurse he scored.

Too many texts, emails, it was ridiculous. Even Brucie was getting on my nerves, as cool as he was, he was getting slightly annoying.

 

Now we look towards GTA V with even more people to interact with I mean flippin heck, Michael has a wife and two kids. What's going to happen when all these people start bothering us again?

We are going to be constantly looking at the phone! Instead of playing gta, driving, shooting and whatever else you enjoy.

If GTA 5 has all these darn people calling and texting me all the time I will be likely to eject the disc, take it out the back and burn the bastard.

 

LESS PHONE USAGE = MORE FUN!

It would be nice if R* gave us the option to simply block characters we didn't want seeing us. Also, the damn girlfriends on IV complaining about the many prostitutes I always picked up. Thankfully there is no girlfriends in V!

R you sure that you'll burn a copy of the long-awaited GTA V just because of the phone calls? I don't think so lol

 

But about the constant phone calls, there should be an optin to tell whoever is calling you to go f*ck themselves, so they wouldn't call you for at least a week in-game.

Again if everyone just reads the previews properly it's already been stated that this kind of thing will be "handled better"

 

So until we know otherwise, no need for panic.. Look on the bright side.

I swear I'm the only one who rarely got said phonecalls. When I did it was easy to ignore or reject it. IT WASN'T THAT BIG A DEAL

 

It was a good feature, despite the crybabies, as it made niko feel part if a living social world, iii vc sa all suffered from that at times - it felt too ... Lonesome. Nikon friends etc, it was a welcome break, just to chill instead of now down prostitutes with a 4x4

 

I honestly didnt get that many calls, even in on esave file that was the sunny side of 200 hours...

 

I hope it is in v but putting it on silent/sleep mode isn't enough for you guys - so I doubt it'll b anything other than player instigated, thus throwing us back into 'its just me' again

Wow, I really don't know how you guys found it so annoying. I only got those phonecalls at times that were actually appropriate. Roman only called me to go bowling twice, and I went both times. Whenever I didn't want to hang with anyone, I rejected the call. Simple.

I barely got any calls and when they did call I would just hit B and ignore them. The phone wasn't really an annoyance too me in IV

I'm with Mokrie Dela, I didn't get that many, and IMO the friends really helped Niko and IV feel as if they were part of a living breathing world.

 

That said I rember reading in a preview that R* has said friends engage you less, if not at all (basically like TLAD and TBoGT where, you called them when you wanted to hang out and that was it IIRC) and the only time you get calls is for mission like things and such, which is fine by me because that's less pressing of the circle button when people call and I'm busy.

 

I'm also sure they meant a bigger role by the fact that you use the ingame internet though there, the camera on the phone can save pics and upload them to the Social Club, and then the yet to be revealed Social Networking feature which is going to likely be a Twitter Like Social club interface you use via the game, as well as the other unrevealed in game apps. Basically the phone isn't just for calls, and the odd cheat anymore, which I like them expanding on.

Now if you had actually read any of the previews you would know that R* is aware of player's reactions to phone calls in IV and that there will be less of those in V and will mostly be about some important things for the mission, but you won't get ''let's go playing golf'' calls every minute.

Was about to say the exact same thing, wouldn't be also surprised if there are better ways to handle the phone call itself. It was a bit annoying in GTA IV, found the In-Mission one's pretty funny though.
