PlayboyJohn Posted May 5, 2013 Share Posted May 5, 2013 I feel like GTA V needs to be released on the next gen consoles right now as its been delayed so much, I would not mind waiting for it since I've waited so long. I have a problem since I'm looking to sell my PS3 but won't sell it if V is only released on PS3. So I am quite annoyed that V will not be on next gen. I believe a Take Two executive has already said V won't be coming to next gen. What do you guys think? I think V would be much more popular and memorable if it was on next gen and would help boost console sales. I hope Sony or Microsoft can pay them to do this. When the next gen consoles come out, barely half the people will be on it for the first six months or year. They will lose TOO much sales and money. (This is my first post on GTA Forums) If they release it on the PS store I'm pretty sure you would be able to since Sony said that all games you have purchased on the store will be available on the PS4. BUT I doubt it'll release on PS store... so no it won't be on PS4. However it doesn't really matter to me I'm not purchasing a PS4 for at least 6 months to a year after it releases or until the price drops a little bit. Why buy it when the firmware and all that sh*t is going to be glitchy right away until they find all the bugs.... Plus there won't be many games right away so in my opinion it'd be a waste of 400$ or however much it'll cost. But if that's what you want to do be my guest. I paid 700$ for the Xbox 360 like 2 months before it released in stores and paid 600$ for the PS3 a few weeks prior to release aswell and I still regret it. It was a waste both machines ended up dying off pretty quick. The 360 lasted 6 months and I got RRoD, which occured 7 times on me so I gave up, the PS3 lasted 2 years. Didn't Rockstar also say that no gamer is going to miss out on GTA V? Could well mean it'll be coming out for next gen too. I really hope it does though, a game like this deserves to be on next gen. In November this year it will be 7 years, so 3 more years of supporting it seems reasonable and likely despite their main attention obviously shifting to the PS4. You have to understand R* want to make great games but they also want to make money. The game might (and most likely) show up on next gen consoles but R* wants to make the most of the current market of console owners. Simply stated: Xbox/PS3 = Millions of gauranteed consumers. Rockstar know a game of this magnitude will attract a lot of two-time buyers. Makes a lot of sense to announce it after the current-gen version is released if they are. Instead, Sony will use cloud gaming to allow the system to access older PlayStation back catalogue. PS3 titles will not be available from the start, they said after the press conferance that we must wait some time before making them available on the PS4. Very unlikely, and I'll tell you why. Its the same reason The Last of Us is not coming to the PS4. With IV being the first R* game on PS3, it was of course not as great as it could've been with some RAGE engine improvements. Now R* want to prove that "these machines still have plenty of power" (Dan Houser, November GI Preview). Releasing an upgraded version of GTAV to next gen consoles would be incredibly counterproductive to proving that these machines still have plenty of power left. Naughty Dog is making The Last of Us for PS3 and not PS4 because they want to use all the PS3's power to generate a game to end this console generation with a bang in terms of quality; they seek to publicly demonstrate just what a PS3 game could look like, given enough time & resources. This is exactly what R* want to do with GTAV. So its very simple -- GTAV (probably) won't be releasing for next-gen consoles, at least not an upgraded version.
