  1. 1. How long will you wait to look at GTA V's map?

    • I will look at the in-game map as soon as I can
      142
    • I will wait until I have explored the environment for a while before I look at the map
      33
    • I hope I see the map online before I play the game for the first time
      51
    • I won't have a choice, because the game will show us the map before or after the first mission

Oh. Didn't think about this, but... the map is going to be preety big uh? So they say.

I'll guide myself through the minimap until I need to check the world one.

I'll try not to look at the manual instructions guide one.

The map will most likely be on this forum before 17 Sep, so.... as soon as I can then!

Edit: I mean the "I won't have a choice" one

Edit again: no, the "online" one.... blush.gif Sheesh... In the future, Read BEFORE I post...

Probably in the minority here, but I really do want to see the map as soon as I possibly can.

To me, seeing the map early won't ruin any of the excitement. Actually, just seeing it will make me more hyped, because I think it's going to catch us totally off-guard and surprise us, even though there's a lot of inconsistency as to how big the map is exactly.

Regardless though, game will be incredible whenever we finally get to see the map, even if it's after the game is released.

I will do my best to NOT look at paper map in game case, then turn off map / radar in game settings right away, and will play for couple hours without knowing where I am.

I'll probably peruse the Map that comes with the game for several minutes before i head home from the store, but it won't matter anyway because once the map is revealed, it will be all over the internets, and i can't wait. Does anyone remember how long it was before they revealed the GTA IV map?

Ah, I probably would have looked at the map as soon as possible, but this thread made me think.

Maybe it's more fun to discover yourself without knowing what what to expect.

Now I think about it, screw maps!

After the first 100 gameplay hours I draw one myself icon14.gif

Isn't that a cool challenge for all when it's released?

A contest who can draw the best map from memory, no cheating smile.gif

You know, that's not a bad idea. Going to do that as well. Will be more fun exploring Los Santos and the surrounding area.

Should have even done this with GTA IV. tounge.gif

I was going to say the map is the only thing I have no problems looking at before release, but... the thought of turning the radar off for the first few hours sounds appealing.

I'm pretty sure we'll see it at some point or another. Remember how they mentioned when switching characters when they're far apart, it will zoom out to basically view the whole map (so as to cover up loading times)? So, unless you close your eyes, or don't switch characters during free time, then you'll see the map eventually.

I kind of really want to look at the map when the game is installing, but then I want to explore without seeing it first, well just have to see if I can hold off for a while. ph34r.gif

I'll be reading the booklet and studying the map while the game installs itself..

Most likely I have already seen the map online by that time though.

I won't wait too long. I don't want to see it before the game comes out, and I won't be looking at the one in the game case until after I start the game, but I won't be shy about pausing the game and looking at it once I've gotten to that point. Once you're playing, it will be pretty hard to avoid seeing the map because it's the first thing that you see when you pause them game, assuming it works like previous GTAs, and switching characters will also show you the map.

I will try to not look at the map until I explore a little... But I think the excitement will be to much and I will look at the booklet map on the way home from getting the game

Got me another map to completely remember, I have pretty much memorized IV's map entirely(Ally ways, Side streets, hidden sh*t.) Got to get started on V's map asap.(After release though, Won't be doing anything before the game comes out.)

I'll look at it as soon as I can, but I hope we won't see it now but only right before release.

And a lot of people who now say they'll only look at it when they have the actual game, will also click on a topic with the title "GTAV MAP RELEASED!!! :D"

Not all of them, but a lot :)

I'm going to place a GPS waypoint on the furthest point in the map but I won't look at any features I will just quickly do it. Then drive there and when I get there I will turn off the mini map and try to drive back to Los Santos without using the main freeway.

I've actually decided, for the first time in my sandbox gaming career, to switch the minimap off.

This is a great idea!!

Allthough realisticly I will look at the map the instant it appears in my hands or before online, the map is like the most important thing...

Well if, like usual, we get a printed map with the game I'll be looking at that whilst the game installs/loads making mental notes of where I want to visit first.

I'll have a quick look at the paper map, launch the game, follow what I memorised before realising I had the scale/direction wrong and will end up in the woods.

I'd love to say I'd wait until I play the game however I doubt I will and I'll look at the first chance I get. tounge.gif

99% of people here will be looking at the map as soon as it leaks.

I want to avoid it as long as possible.

I always rip up manuals/maps as soon as I get a new game but with V I'll just turn the map around to show the poster artwork and stick it up on my wall to hide the map.

There is the issue of the in game map. It will appear when I pause the game. I hope it's like San Andreas where it is zoomed in so you can't see the whole map.

I just want to explore the map on my own. If I get lost I want to figure the way back on my own without looking at the map.

You forgot the

"I'll be looking at the fold out map while the game installs" option......
