If i remember correctly, it was said that the story is about 50 hours?

i just dont remember if it was confirmed, and if it was was it general play time of all the game content

(i know it dosn't sound possiable, but i am 90% sure that i heard that)

I don't know exactly anymore, but wasn't it less than IV's duration? Something like 30h?

It's probably 20-30 hours like Grand Theft Auto IV, I think this were written in one of last years previews.

lol If it was only 30 hours...someone could beat the game within 15 hours. That's pretty stupid

It's however long YOU make it last. It may be possible to complete faster than IV was, only because IV had way too many pointless missions.

There are three stories, plus their joint story.. so I'd say it will be pretty long. I'd like at least 40-50 for all of that, if you just go and play missions without spending time on other stuff.

Of course, we will all spend 150 hours exploring before we do some real mission, especially with the whole world being open from the beginning.

Would love a 50+ Hour story, we'll probably get something sh*t like 25 Hours or 30. Which is far too short IMO.

I remember hearing somewhere it'll be between 25 + 50 but for some reason 35 hours sticks in my mind. CVG im sure of it (speculation based on GTA 4 being too long and some people not bothering to finish it)

It's been confirmed for almost a year now that the story will be about the same length as Red Dead Redemption. So around 20-25 hours. Anything over 30 is absolutely insane. A 30 hour storyline is a lot longer than you think.

This.

I think it took me 5 days to beat Red Dead, so about that would be good for GTA V.

I never rush the story, NEVER. It probably took me a few months to finish IV's storyline only because i was doing a bit at a time and was mostly free roaming and online. Believe me, 20-30 hours is perfect, especially when there is 3 protagonists.

Grand Theft Auto TOM

Hmm, below 30 hours seems quite less for me, but maybe the missions will be longer now. And it could look less, while there are 'missions' before the real one. Like with the heists, you know?

I hope to get more than 30 hours (up to 50), but there are at least three storylines. So, there is still much to do. And don't forget the minigames and any other free activities you can do. I'm sure that's the reason R* implemented so many of that sort things; just to give you much pleasure after you have finished all stories. And you could still repeat them all. I did that with GTA IV. That was fun, because I can beat my time everytime. Already the second time I finished it within 22 hours.

Than there is another thing you're forgetting, guys. There were DLC's confirmed for GTA V (as I thought). I'm sure it will take up to two or three years until they will be released, but that's well enough. smile.gif

I will not complain about less time, I guess. Especially not with al the extra's R* have in the pipeline for us. Can't even realize we will getting bored in GTA V. Big city, big opportunities etc. tounge.gif

What I find, is that when people hear "30 hour storyline", they think "Oh, I'll beat that in 2 days"

In reality, most people (at least people I know) would only play a game for around 5 hours a day, due to work, school, etc. That would take about a week to beat the story.

But that's the problem: there is nothing confirmed about working like a citizen or something. I mean, you can't become a rich banker or CEO of a big company, even not with Michael while he is supposed to be rich (if I'm right). Would be great if you could, by the way. tounge.gif

I think you misunderstood my post.

I was referring to our real lives. I have to go to classes 6 hours a day; that cuts down my playing time for the first few days.

(I misread stuff all the time, by the way tounge.gif )

Yes it will be 25-30 hours of story mode because remember heists are QUICK- FAST PACED ACTION so if you have lots of missions/ heists that are fast then there will be a lot of missions.

Oh, sorry. Thought you was referring to the in-game story. :$

But I understand what you actually mean. That's quite an advantage, because you will have less time at a day to play. More years to have fun in GTA V. Don't want to make the same mistake as in GTA IV; I'm currently stuck by doing nothing than just hanging around a bit. Just because I already know every location and did the story a few times. Same for both DLC's TLAD and TBOGT. tounge.gif

Homemade Dynamite

Why are people complaining about a 30 hour story? That's 3-6 times longer than the average game these days.

It was never confirmed how long the game is and I am sure it'll be 30 hours or more like IV, not to mention how long the map is would add extra time unless you spam taxi rides.

This!

It took me 60 hours (two weeks with breaks) to complete the GTAIV story, because I was having a tonne of fun doing other things outside the missions.

When you take the time to complete a story like GTA IV's or RDR's you really appreciate them whilst enjoying activities outside the missions. That's why, in a way, I feel sorry for those players that rush through the game.

Luckily for me, the main storyline is the least of my concerns when I begin to play these types of games. I take my time, go out and explore stuff, etc. Just don't rush through the main storyline is about the best advice I can give.

I agree....last time I played str8 story mode only and felt I missed out on exploring the world. Finished the game quicker but didn't really feel the full scope of Liberity city.

This time I plan on exploring first, getting into lots of chases(&escape routes), find jumps, hidden items, check out the different weapons, special vehicles, etc. Then enter storymode familiar with the layout of Los Santos. Plus tryout the new elements (special abilities) Rockstar has added.

It would be cool if the story was as long as GTAiv + TBoGT + L&D.

I hate when I have finished a game. I am on my 2nd playthrough of GTAiv rotating with TBoGT & L&D also.

Stoic Intrusion

what worries me a little is that if its true that its shorter or about the same as GTA IV is that according to all the new info these minor heists will require a load of little prep-missions which takes time.

That indicates that there won't be many actual heists at all and that each characters story arc will be rather short.

Grand Theft Savage

Assassin's Creed III was supposedly 25 hours. I beat it in 17, and that's counting the side-missions I did. But to get 100%, it took me 67 hours. It really depends on how you play the game...

You would be misinformed, sir.

As I mentioned earlier, it has already been confirmed by Rockstar that the game's story will be about as long as RDR. You can check this out on GTAV.net in the facts section.

This more or less. Doesn't matter if the average time is 30 hours as it always takes me longer than they say with any game as I take my time and don't rush. In a game like this it's very easy for me to get distracted. I remember in GTA IV a failed a mission because this one ped wouldn't shift out of the way with his car so I went a little crazy and chased him down, blew up his car after taking him out of it and then used him as a punch bag. The police then got involved and it took me a while to escape them as it turned into full warfare. Once the police were off my back i went and tried the mission again. That little scenario I created for myself took up at least 20 minutes of my time. That's just one example tounge2.gif

I've still not got the achievement for GTA IV for doing the story in 30 hours "liberty city minute" simply because I didn't want to rush through the game and never do.
