In November 2012, Gaminformer released 18 pages of GTA V information (amongst several previews, which Gaminformer also played). Along with the second trailer releasing November 2nd. In the issue (and previews) it was said there would not be the option to change characters too much. Meaning that you wouldn't be able to body-build, get tattoos, or haircut. And what fans got the most upset about: the inability to buy property.

Several months later in late January, GTA V was delayed. Then in April the third trailer would be announced (one trailer for each of the characters), soon after the trailers were released at the end of April we were then told about previews. We got several things from the previews:

- Players can now get tattoos.

- Players can now get haircuts.

- Players can now buy property, businesses etc.

- etc, etc.

They only changed this because they had more time since they had delayed the game. Originally the protagonists were going to have tattoos which were automatically on them. For instance, in the November 2012 issue (and in several previews) all of the screenshots where Trevor's neck was visible there was a tattoo that read: "----Cut here-----". Proving that instead of automatic tattoos, the player can now change them.

If the game had realized in Spring we would have had we did back in November: No tattoos, no haircuts and no property. So in my opinion there is an upside to the delay.

I don't think they changed their minds, they did just lie about it and properties were in the game all along. They are not the only dev to have done this, it's just a hype builder. The delay would have just been for the usual stuff: bugs, graphics polishing. The game will probably be finished much earlier than sept. 17th but they can't release over summer, that is financial suicide.

I agree. I think all of it was in the game all along. They just didn't want to reveal too much too early.

Where are all the people who threw a sh*t fit at the end of January? Still wish the game was being released this month? Nope, didn't think so wink.gif

This is why Rockstar delay their games. To make them better for us but a lot of people don't understand this. Not a lot of other gaming companies out there would do this with their huge money maker. If Rockstar was like them they'd have released the game by now and would have pretty much said "We'll give you it as DLC" or "Tough sh*t, wait for GTA VI which will be out next year!"

This is why Rockstar is king.

At first I also thought that was the case but I also believe this(what kesta said) is what happened. They just probably didnt wanted to give away info regarding customization and property buying at the time because they probably werent sure of the spring 2013 release at that point.

It seems like they wanted to build the hype for the game slowly like they did. I also think there will be a few more things that will be revealed closer to the release.

Where are all the people who threw a sh*t fit at the end of January?

I remember actually insulting them once they delayed the game, saying "f*ck Rockstar" or something. I am a complete idiot for doing so.

Rockstar are perfectionists you could say. They want their games to be as polished and filled with content as possible. That's why I respect them alot.

It was all in the game before, they didn't want to reveal it. However, its cause of all the bitch fitting c*nts that made them reveal it. Hypocrites and impatient bastards in this fanbase.

What I want to know is, if they didn't want to reveal it later, then why didn't they just leave it out of the preview rather than claiming it wasn't in the game?

When they want to avoid questions they just don't give an answer, as they did with many things in the original GI preview. But Houser explicitly said "There won't be property" in that preview, so I really don't think he thought it was going to be in GTA V at that point.

Remember all of the **** they received on the Newswire? I'll never forget that, literally everybody was cursing Rockstar via a comment.

Maybe they had plans but wasnt sure if these features would make it into the final game and didnt wanted to give any false hopes with "We cant share that info" kind of a response?

I think he just flat out lied. It has been done in the gaming industry before.

That's very plausible. He did give a number of answers to questions where he made himself sound uncertain like "we think the phone will be used for the internet". Obviously he must have known by that point if that was going to be the case.

Because most people are out doing things/on holiday. I'm sure a dedicated fanbase like this would buy it no matter when it released but most people don't concern themselves with games as much as they would around autumn/winter, maybe spring. Most triple A games release in Oct/Nov.

1. The second trailer released on November 14th.

2. I personally think that buying property, haircuts, tattoos, etc was in the game. R* probably wasn't sure if it would make the final game or just wasn't ready to release that info so early on.

3. I don't know why R* would delay the game 4 months just to add that. There was definatly something more and serious for it to be delayed for that amount of time.

Yeah they probably did just lie. You cannot decide to just put in property and make all of those interior within a few months, it had to have been there the whole time.

1. My mistake.

2. They did release that information early on, they said it wasn't going to be in the game.

3. I never said it was just to add that. Just that is what we know they've added so far.

As for the other comments: I don't think Rockstar would have lied. I think they would have avoided the question instead, kind of like what Knife said.

Then again, it may have been just to get our "hype" up once we realized these things actually were in the game.
