I was wondering why rockstar hasn't put car interiors with working gauges in their games besides midnight club? Will GTA V have working interiors?

I REALLY hope that even in third person driving, we get a speedometer, not hard to add and would be very useful...

I'm praying that in GTA V we will get to use a proper view of being INSIDE the car - I think Vice City was the last one to do this. Where we can actually put ourselves IN the car.

When I played Forza Horizon, the majority of the game was spent using the camera angle of being in the car, it added to the vibe and atmosphere immensely and really made you feel like you were driving it.

Probably because they didn't think it was important enough to bother with that in non-racing games. Even though GTA is all about cars, still the focues is on different things, so they didn't deem it worthy. Plus, it's just more things to make and render.

i hope so! actually getting 'in' the car and sitting behind the wheel, and the dash cluster, would be awesome. I've wanted since i first played LCS as a 5th grader. Also having a speedometer would be sick. Like I've been flying down the road on a Double T, over taking cars on the highway without knowing how fast I'm going.. it kinda annoys me. Mind you, I've been a car nut since I was a baby, so I dunno, maybe it's just me bored.gif

although i would LOVE the interior to be able to be viewed in car, i doubt it will happen as it would take a lot of detail when you think of every driveable vehicle that you can go into. this would involve possibly over 150 fully detailed dashes.

in saying that gtaiv did have interior modelling which i used to love looking at with a zoomed in sniper rifle or ak47 it was very low res when zoomed in but i loved trying to look at it. so i hope they have that at least, then if it is fully detailed then great

Yeah. Not only are the dashboards low-res, but the interiors of the cars don't actually 'work'. In IV the steering wheels didn't even turn.

BUT THE BENZ

In Franklin's trailer we saw the good old hud-perspective returning, it's good enuff for me. Car interiors would be cool, but they aren't necessary at all.

i know and agree, but in the grand scheme of things its not really a big issue is it? having said that an improvement would be very welcome and hope along with the op,s in this thread that we have AT LEAST better detailed interiors and fully fuctional interiors would be an un-neccesary bonus for me

And also character animations in vehicles (and often on-foot outside of cutscenes) were poor.

It would be pretty cool. This makes me think we might have third person "cockpit" view.

I don't believe we ever had this view in IV...right?

Well, it has been said countless time why by other users. The reason is framerate. GTA's world has so much attention to detail, that vehicles have to be low-res, otherwise it will lag, or if you're on PC like me, you get the annoying memory leak. Midnight Club had interiors because it's focused on racing, and doesn't have such extreme amounts of detail like GTA.

I could expect GTA V to have low-res interiors so the game will actually run on such old hardware. There's not much they can do.

I agree 100%. They had 1st person passenger in GTA4 when in the taxi and its been 5 years since GTA4. Thats plenty of time to make some dashboard models and arm models for your character, add front seat view to the 1st person backseat view from the taxi in GTA 4 and make it also available when with friends. Being IN the car wether its driving or as a passenger would be awesome. Imagine a drive-by shooting where your friend is driving and you can stick the guns out the window from 1st person passenger view and shoot instead of the camera switching to an overhead view. The stunt jumps would look much better too. Imagine how car pooling would be online. wow.gif

Interior camera with hands + moving wheel would be sweet.

I think it's time they did focus on the cars this much, the franchise is called Grand THEFT AUTO.

Going off-topic but even new ways of stealing cars, with minigames such as Chinatown's would be awesome.

And I could see Franklin playing a BIG role in this game, if it were to happen.

We want detailed interiors with working gauges, and finally, a damn moving steering wheel.

Personally I would love fully rendered and working car interiors, but I am also aware that the reason they haven't done them up to now is to reserve rendering budget for more important things, like the environment, NPCs peds, NPC cars, etc. I would rather they sacrifice a full car interior view rather than skimp on any of those things.

A speedometer would take up a lot of space, I don't like HUDs while Im in the car, its in the way. I wouldn't be able to see where I was going if a speedometer was in the way, even if it was transparent it'd

make it hard to drive with. It's a distraction.

Detailed interiors would be nice, but all I want is a steering wheel that moves and to see the player's arm move to the gear stick when you go up or down a gear!

What's the point of a speedometer in a GTA game?

You think because GTA V will have racing elements that it really NEEDS a racing game speedometer?

What's the point in them in Battlefield 3, on the dirtbikes?

Whats the need of anything, hell does, why GTA have clouds? Silly question.... Speedometers have f*ck all to do with racing.... I could name 20 different reasons it would be nice to simply know how fast you were going... I never said a word about "racing elements" or that "it NEEDS a racing speedometer"... In case you have never driven a car before know what speed your going comes in quite handy.... suicidal.gif
