GTA V on next generation?

Considering that GTA San Andreas never made it to the current gen consoles..

I don't think we will get V on next gen, atleast not after 1-2 years, a direct port from the x360 and PS3 versions.

-The last generation shift wasn't easy for everyone, R* didn't have an engine ready to blow on current gen consoles.

-San Andreas graphics looked to dated for next gen and it came out one year before xbox 360 and two years before ps3, even on pc.

-R* teams were all doing something else. (Bully, Manhunt 2,The Warriors, GTA stories, Table Tennis, RDR, Midnight Club LA)

 

You should notice that Bully is a cross gen R* game and Table Tennis came out on the wii too.

they did a pretty big dlc for a new ip like Red Dead Redemption, planning it months in advance so it came out few months after the original game, sold well and it was cheap to produce.

All that without the rumored 50 millions $ from M$

I don't know but they should. It'll probably cost as much to do as to make DLC and I think a next gen port would eventually sell more. Also, since the new consoles' are similar to PC's, those three versions can be done in tandem. I think if they just upscaled the resolution and add some dx11 bells and whistles, it would look pretty amazing.

I only see a port happening if anything at all. Based on the past we didn't see San Andreas remade for the PS3. R* made a new engine and there first next gen game was GTA IV(ports aside). I expect R* to be making a new engine for next gen consoles as we speak and think there first next gen game will be Red Dead Redemption 2 or something along them lines. I really don't think they would waste the time and resources to make GTA V for next gen consoles when it will only appeal to a small fanbase. Might aswell give it a few years and release a completely new game.

With the PC release likely to come a few months after initial release, I can't see why they couldn't port a version for next gen. Better resolution, draw distance, twice as many in MP etc....

 

But the sting in the tail would be to offer the first DLC with a next gen release.

 

Either way I am happy buying this game 3 times if need be. Worth every penny.

 

You'd be a fool to simply rule out this not coming out on next gen at some point.

People continue to say this despite San Andreas coming to psn just last December. Like someone said, they ported Bully to this gen, as well as San Andreas, Gta III and Vice city.

Im sorry but that is just a stupid argument that i keep reading over and over. One. Bully went on the 360 so it could be done. Two. The graphic difference between the ps2 and ps3 is night and day total differnce, they would need a new engine and remake EVERYTHING. With next gen graphics will be better but not drastically better from ps2 to ps3. Think about it the game is coded on a pc all games are. Now if there is a pc version think how easy it would be to port a next gen game from a pc? You wanna know why it would be so easy because this time the framework of the system is almost exactly of pc architecture. The ps4 is sooo similar to the pc that if there was a pc version it would be easy to port a nextgen version with better graphics draw distance, aliasing, framerat etc. compared to current gen

I voted yes, with the expectation that you actually meant a port by definition, not by your "maybe slightly improved" crap. As I stated in my last post, GTAV being upgraded for next gen consoles is improbable and would be extremely redundant and counterproductive towards their goal to harness & publicly display the entire power of these current gen consoles.

San Andreas was released on next gen, why would GTA V not be?

 

This game costs hundreds and hundreds of millions of £ to make, and they will want to make as much profit as possible from it, and this will DEFINITELY include it being released on next gen.

 

It's not if, it's when. Rockstar don't want you to hold off buying it for 360 or PS3 so you can wait and buy it on next gen, which is why they have not yet announced it.

 

I guess it will be released alongside the PC version but they might chose to do this separate as well.
