Andreas Posted May 4, 2013 Share Posted May 4, 2013 (edited) Nobody knows what the ETA of GTANet V2 is, it could be in a couple of years, maybe a decade or whatever. Nobody really knows when it will arrive but we know that V1.5 will arrive before it. I'll leave a couple of quotes here regarding V1.5: I'm guessing that V1.5 will be an updated version of the IPB? STM just said that they have several projects for next year, although none of them will involve Invision Power software. I'm guessing V1.5 will also come at 2014 at the quickest. Please correct me if I'm wrong. V1.5 will be on new, pre-existing software (not IPB). V2 will be on software built from scratch. If I had to guess an ETA for V1.5, I'd say Spring 2013, but don't hold me to that. Well the new software Gtaforums is going to use is V1.5 and it will be built on pre existing software but not IPB. I believe name changes won't be allowed in V 1.5 although technically it's possible since the Admin CP should be fine again. I'm not 100% sure on this, but I'm guessing we will allow name changes limited to once a year, possibly at the user level (meaning without having to ask an admin). Obviously we can't allow users to change their names willy nilly, otherwise a lot of people will just change them every day and it'll be hard to know who is who. On a side note, I personally never understood why so many people fret over their user names. Shoumaker Posted May 4, 2013 Share Posted May 4, 2013 (edited) I heard V2 has been developed since 2005 by Tank alone and if I had to guess when we'll see when V2 will come around it would be sometime in the next several years as it takes a very long time to build the software from scratch. But as Andreas has already quoted Xcommunicated who had mentioned we should see V1.5 sometime in spring. V1.5 will be made using pre-existing software, but not IPB.
