This is funny cuz just the other night I was playing Red Dead and was thinking to myself, "Man I really hope they don't have regenerating health"

Wake up the next day to read the previews and what do ya know..

Regenerating health feels so noobly. The only use would be out in the countryside when you have no hot dog stands near by.

I didn't know you guys played the game, it's easy you say?

What's on top of Mt Chilliad..? How hard are cops and wild animals?

Seriously.

Seriously.

We can judge by the difficulty of their previous games.

GTA IV(easy), RDR(easy), MP3(medium-hard)

Also most games that do have health regeneration are insanely easy(Battlefield, Sleeping Dogs ect.).

f*ck this, it's too easy, any n00b is going to be able to complete every mission with no skill whatsoever. ;__;

They should be able to since they payed for the game.

I'm not sure how old you are but in the NES days MANY games were never beaten by the people who owned them. It was a big deal to beat a game. It gave you bragging rights.

Just because you own something doesn't mean that talent comes with the purchase. Imagine somebody buying a guitar, not everbody can play every song, some people will fail.

And you played it, why should it be a problem to buy this one.

My most hated thing about GTA is that there was no regenerating health. GTA IV's animations/Euphoria physics simply elevated this further. If you dive out of your car, you can easily lose a huge chunk of your health. If you've got the police after you, and you happen to steal a car, there's around a 3 second animation you have to sit through. By that time, they've already shot you to sh*t. Adding regenerating health to 50% gives you the fun factor of being able to jump down slopes, dive out of cars, and take a few punches to the face without having to trek a distance to acquire your health back. 50% is a perfect compromise, it's not stupidly unrealistic, yet it retains the ability to let you mess around without a huge impact on what you want to do.

That just shows you that there's going to be some long ass, complex missions in this game.

I'm perfectly OK with 50% regen. As long as I still have a reason to go into an Up-N-Atom and buy a burger.

Some people like to play GTA to f*ck around...

Im not happy about them dumbing the game down either but Im also not 100% against it.

The AI HAS been improved a preview just confirmed it, so i say it maybe warrants partial health regen myself.

Well there was too many times in IV where the enemies decided to turn into professional marksman and I died due to lack of health or armor pick ups. Am I the only one that was excited with EVERY detail in the new info? There wasn't one thing that disappointed me.

This.

I was pretty annoyed when those Russians in the Revenge Mission in IV went behind me and shot me at the back. sad.gif

Stupid Whinos!

When we don't get any information, many assholes start trolling.

And when we already got what we wanted, whinos start complaining!

I don't see the big deal. RDR and Max Payne 3 had it to an extent.

I got used to it in RDR and I still got killed. Plenty of times.

I just hope they don't add the Deadeye/bullet time style feature. Hate it angry.gif sorry, off topic

You're in for a disappointment then...Michael has "bullet time" and franklin has slow-mo driving.

And on topic: I like the idea of health regenerating <50%

ARGHhhHh???? Is this sh*t true????? Bullet time is terrible, but SLOW MO DRIVING??????? f*ck this isn't DRIV3R series..........f*ck

It's only 50% calm down. dozingoff.gif The game will still be challenging.

I was a bit iffy on it too when RDR first came out. To make the game harder, I turned off auto-aim, and I found it quite challenging - especially hunting animals like cougars. In turn, I started to use Dead Eye more, which is making Michael all the more appealing. 50% is perfect, if you get blindsided by a car (or MOUNTAIN LION) and lose 90% of your health, you'll be glad for it then.

This was actually OUR idea. There was a large topic about regenerative health a while back and someone suggested that health should only regenerate to a fraction of total HP, and the rest we'd have to heal in the old-fashioned way. Rockstar has definitely been reading the forums.

I have extreme doubts that R* actually took any ideas from this forum seriously. You guys are VASTLY over-estimating your influence.

I'm SO happy they've introduced this, even if it's only 50%, it breaks up the action to have to constantly look for health packs or food just so you don't die, glad to see that's no longer as much of a factor now and you can worry about it less. Brilliant move on R*'s part, especially considering there are now three characters, it would just be punishing to have no regen at all.

it only regains 50% of it... CVG said that

In my opinion this is the way it should be. I would have said that regenerating just 1/4 of it would be ideal.

Granted I think that Far Cry 3's way of dividing the health bar and it would only regenerate the current section would work better, this is probably still good. Think, they probably won't go CoD and have regenerate health during a fight. So like if you are in a car chase and you have made some distance, you might start to regain health. Then when someone attacks you the regeneration stops until you have spent some time away from fighting. So unless they put a mile between each enemy gruop in every mission, the game will still be very hard.

Well they did delay the game and add buying properties and businesses, and adding tats and haircuts. They said u couldnt do any of that in the first preview, people on here complained, they added it.

Smarter AI that use deadly tactics... No, I'm not pissed at regenerating health. I'm actually quite pleased about it. There are times where the enemy gets a cheap shot(s) on you and you're left with nothing more than a scrap of health, usually allowing your character's death via a slight hit from a car.

This is quite genius TBH. Its one of the things Mafia 2 did very well. Food/medkits can fully restore your health which is ideal before you enter a firefight, while the 50% regeneration can give you the necessary boost to survive the battle while you're behind cover. This will also be very cool in Multiplayer, as you will no longer get killed by 1 pistol bullet after surviving a brutal onslaught.

For all the people opposing, I'm sure there will be a way to disable health regen. Maybe through the options menu, or maybe even through a harder difficulty accessible at the beginning of the game.

I am worried about this especially if this comes to multiplayer.

Hopefully it doesn't regen if people are shooting at you or chasing you.

I think they made the right call . I thought it was annoying to have to pull over and eat a hot dog. If you at complaining about the game being too easy, I hope you already have autoaim off.

Everybody is sooooooo high off of the info storm this week for it to really register. "Encourages ballsy gameplay" HA HA, Saints Row comes to mind.

In my opinion its a bad move but R* said this is gonna be an all new GTA experience so who knows maybe it will turn out to be good. Or maybe they're trying so many new things that it will turn off longtime players (not feeling like past GTAs, etc.) and bring in players that are newer to the GTA franchise (i,e. San Andreas is my first GTA and I don't like the older ones and IV was too realistic and boring)?
