As many disks as they want! As long as they don't cut out part of the game to reduce the number of disks. I hope they give you the option to download them all onto the console and play with just disk 1, like Forza 4 did rather than the disk swap option that was in LA Noire, although this will probably be how it works out. But either way, as long as the game is epic, which it will be I don't care.

You're my favorite 360 player, much love from the PS3 camp my friend! cool.gif

If this game has to go on multiple disk it would only be a two disk game, one disk for the story and the other disk for online multiplayer!

Yup. Any more discs and it would basically break the game. It would screw everything up story wise.

Yes, Because 50mb of data warrents an entirely seperate disc.

So you really think they're going to split the map into 2 discs then? If you're going to tell me i'm wrong, at least contribute to the topic and make a better point than that.

And if that's so, then i'm pretty sure the game is going to be on 1 disc then.

Also, the 4GB Arcade 360's have a Memory NAND, its not a Hard drive.

And If I recall correctly, Rockstar cannot make the game have a required install.  Microsoft won't let games have mandatory installs because they sell crappy little 4GB systems.

Its at the end of the consoles life cycle so why not break the rules. Anyone that still has a 4GB system probably dont use their console much.

Microsoft will not allow them to release the game on their system if there is a mandatory install, it's as simple as that.

Halo 4, Forza 4, and Defiance (which is a single disc game)= mandatory install on 360, simple as that.

Halo 4 is not completely mandatory. You can still play the singleplayer campaign without installing. Installing Forza 4 is not mandatory but installing gives you extra content.

Defiance is an MMO and so rules had to change for that, for example, obviously you have to be online to play.

I still think one disc now, if it is drop in drop out mutliplayer by pressing down on the d-pad as they said they're not going to put all of the multiplayer on multiple discs.

I own both consoles twice or more. I've preordered for 360 as its generally what I play on more. Bigger friends list etc.

If its multiple disks I will be switching my preorder to ps3 because I have that choice. Call me lazy if you will I just don't like the concept of having to switch disks.

What am I kidding ill most likely get the game for both consoles knowing me.

I don't mind swapping discs. You'd really have to be a lazy slob for it to bother you to get off your ass for 15 seconds

Bro, many people just don't wanna play GTA on multiple discs, it's not down to laziness. For many it's annoying and it might momentarily ruin the experience.

Stop trying to look for valid excuses to coerce people to be okay with it. If they don't don't like it, then respect it, rather than call them lazy.

100% laziness. What experience is going to be ruined when you have to swap disc because you click Multiplayer? It's not like you'll be in a shootout and it'll suddenly pause the game and say "insert disk 7".

I'd say 2 for Story, 1 for MP.

Again, 50 Megabytes of data does not warrant an entirely seperate disc. 50 f*cking megabytes, barely bigger than Minecraft.

They said they were doing something different for multiplayer, for all we know ranked matches or somesh*t use a map system similar to CoD. So you don't have sissies running to the other side of the map. They could be doing crazy sh*t to the multiplayer that it does warrant a 2nd discs. Maybe this time it's not just scripting.

GTA multiplayer is practically Identical to Singleplayer, In the sense that it pulls 90% of its resources from the same areas that Singleplayer does, The only things that are not being pulled from that "pool" is minor things like gametypes and multiplayer character models. which those things put together is pretty much 50-100mb in size.

Not enough of a difference to make them put it all on a seperate disc.

TL;DR

Multiplayer uses everything from Singleplayer, Besides gametypes and player models.

Nope, not in every case it's not. Many people just simply don't wanna play GTA on more than one disc.

Sounds like a flame war here IMO, but I'm sure Rockstar will find a way to fit GTA V to one disc. If worst does come to worst, I'd say 2 discs could be needed. I did vote for 3 in the case a mandatory install was needed, but I'm sure 2 will work just fine. Again this is if worst comes to worst, and they have no choice but to use more than one disc.

Feed Me A Lolcat

Since the audio files take up most of the space, the best solution would be to half the number of the radio stations or their content.

So the first disk would contain everything with only half of the stations/songs, but you could install the second disk for the full experience.

This issue has long gone beyond a flame war. Many big 360 games have recently been using multiple discs. Based on this fact, it is a genuine and valid concern for many people who own the 360, because they don't wanna play GTA V on multiple discs for various reasons.

@ SuperDuperGta

The PS3 uses Blu-Ray which is much more advanced disc format, it can store so much information and memory that pretty much any current-gen game can fit on one Blu-Ray disc.

The 360 still uses DVD9 which is not able to handle the huge memory and store the large amount information of very big games on to one disc.

Well even then...

I wouldn't say yet that Rockstar will use 2 discs (or 3) for GTA V. I will say that they could do what Feed Me A Lolcat suggested, 1st disc having the game but with half the audio assets cut to fit into a DVD9, and a 2nd disc for an optional install which contains the missing audio assets from the 1st disc.

Even as a PS3 gamer, I hope the Xbox 360 version doesn't suffer from having more than one disc. Just wouldn't feel right.

As a PS3 gamer, I could not care less about the 360 version having multiple discs, as I'm almost sure the PS3 version will not.

However I definitely would not want to play GTA on multiple discs, so I do feel the concerns of 360 owners.

Your hopes are valid, because GTA IV+EFLC needed two discs on the 360 version, while the PS3 version was one one as expected.

I hope R* will put one thing on XBOX 360 version for you coud install all the game in your HD if you have and use only DVD 1, i don't know if the other games have it but GTA V will have it on XBOX 360

Why does this only apply to Xbox and not PS3?

cause the space of Blu-Rays are bigger , but don't expect changes in graphics or gameplay , you just get multiple disks and PS3 advantage is that they'll have

1 disk

i can't see a way for the xbox version to fit on a single dvd, but at the same time if you had to change disks to go from single to multiplayer i would consider that a game-breaker, so it has to be a mandatory install and then just play from a single disk, has to be.

khe khem .

LOGIC ALERT

if EFLC was on 2 disc then GTA V which content wise is 60% bigger than LC will probably be on 2 disc .

1 DVD disc would be impossible

IF

GTA V gets cut-off by ~ 30%
