Forza 4 has a second disk to install more content (over half of the games cars and tracks)

They could leave out some cars, small random missions to keep it on 1 disc, and put all that content on a second install disc. That way it doesn't take away from the core gameplay, just extra's.

my guess is the map alone will be on one disk which is a mandatory intall, then everything else on a second disc.

This.

The map could be 9-10gb. So it needs its own disk.

The sounds and other models also needs its own disk together with the mission scripts w/c is only a few 10MBs at max.

I'm going to say 3, la noire was on 3, an from the looks of it that had more detailed characters and cutscenes, but GTA V will probably have a larger more detailed environment with more detailed interiors

LA Noire had 3 because of the facial tech they used. I'd probably say LA Noire has more detailed interiors too.

OP doesn't know the extent of which they can compress things.

It will be 1 disk for all or 2, one for multi/one for single.

Kid trying to hate on xbox lol.

No he's not, he's stating valid concerns.

Many 360 games in recent years have required multiple discs, even GTA IV+Episodes. I can't see how discussing a likely scenario based on truthful factors is hating.

GTA IV + EFLC is not a two disc game, it's two standalone games packaged together that were previously sold separately.

it's 1 disk on the PS3

f*ck this, I typed up a nice paragraph and accidentally hit the back button on my mouse and lost EVERYTHING. Here's what I was trying to express in a nutshell:

THE GAME WILL FIT ON ONE 6.8GB XBOX 360 DISC.

Models/Textures/Shaders/City: 3GB

Audio/Video: 3GB

Scripts: 800MB

You can do a hell of a lot with 800MB of artificial intelligence, I tell ya 'hwat. And to make things all the more sweeter, it's probably compiled code, meaning a lot of the directives exist in side of the EXE which allow for smoother execution, and less clutter inside the script files. That's a lot of space for code. For models and/or audio....well, that's possible, but don't expect HD quality.

One disc. /fin

What's that? You're not satisfied? Well, you could always give the model asset budget a generous 250MB of extra space from AI, and still have plenty of breathing room for scripts and sh*t. True story.

I think the two disk sounds the most realistic.

Yeah, one disk for multiplayer, one disk for main story. That´s all, there is no way it´s three disk.

You can drop straight into MP from SP by pressing down on the d-pad, so that rules that out.

If it is multiple disks, it will be everything on both disks apart from some video and sound files that are unique to each disks. The swap will come halfway through the story in SP. That's how all the multiple disk games I've got have been implemented - not got Forza though, and that's the only game I know that allows you to install stuff to HDD and play it without having the disk in. In ME2 you still have to swap the disks even if you have both installed.

i dont like swapping discs mid-game because ill admit, im lazy. plus its like having to wait for a load for an extra 30 seconds - minute. i dont want my gameplay interupted while im in the middle of something. i wouldnt mind where one disc was the play disc and there was another 1-2 install discs..... just no swapping mid game please sad.gif

I'm just laughing at all the crybabies in this thread. Lmao!

Pathetic really, you create a thread and then this is your statement? why don't you do something more productive with your life rather than sitting all day in front of the internet and trolling people.

With the 'google' map jumping as described in the reviews I'd very much doubt if the game wasn't installed on the harddrive of the PS3 - Blu-ray drives aren't that fast. So even if with multiple discs on the Xbox I would expect the game to installed on the xbox harddrive.

GTA IV + EFLC is not a two disc game, it's two standalone games packaged together that were previously sold separately.

GTA IV+EFLC : Complete Edition is clearly a two disc game for the 360, stop making excuses or trying to dress it up nicely.

The PS3 version of GTA IV+EFLC was only on one disc, this clearly shows that 360 version could only be made into a two disc game. I know they were both once standalone games, but the whole idea of the Complete Edition was to package all three games as one.

The PS3 could package it all onto one disc, while the 360 did not. That says something.

They can't make it multiple discs,

how would it work for instant switching in free roam? Insert Disc 1 for Michael, Disc 2 for Trevor etc?

No, my best guess is one disc with terribly decreased quality textures, with an optional HD texture pack download. That's my guess.

We not go switch DVDs in free roam but after complete something like 30 missions in story mode we go switch to DVD 2 to make the others and after DVD 3 and after finish the story only use one DVD for play simple as that

They'll probably do what EA did with Battlefield 3; have an optional HD texture pack that you can download for free when you first boot the game. Or they'll be an option to install the game to the Xbox HDD on first boot either or.

It will be 1 disc. For sure. Max weight of the game - 8,3GB. You'll see.

By the way - It doesn't matter at all.

1 disc, I dont think with it being GTA that Rockstar would want us changing discs half way through when we haven't had to before (only because its GTA).

Also people are forgetting it's been 5 years since GTA IV was released, they know how to fit things onto discs a lot better than back then.

Two discs. 1 for Singleplayer, other for Multiplayer and a Telletubbies DLC pack for when the GOTY edition comes out.

Rockstar would be gigantic assholes if they would have you swap discs. If theres one game that REALLY can't function with disc swapping, it's GTA. I just simply can't imagine how a disc swap for GTA would work. It would totally ruin the experience and make the game less free in a way.

But Rockstar could easily just make an extra install disc, thats probably the best way to do it, then you will have 2 discs without having to swap. Also, RDR was pretty damn big aswell and had pretty nice graphics, but they still managed to fit it all into one disc.

What I feel everyone is missing is the fact that the map is open from the start, it's not linear like MP3, you have to put the whole map's textures onto one disc because you can hot swop to any location (should the character you are hotswopping to is there).

What with random events as well you can't split it into different discs, you just cant.

I sold my Xbox in December for a PS3 mainly for this reason..Xbox was a great system and I wasn't really worried about having to get up jus to switch discs I was more worried about the potential switching of discs interrupting the gameplay or story line

And If I recall correctly, Rockstar cannot make the game have a required install. Microsoft won't let games have mandatory installs because they sell crappy little 4GB systems.

Halo 4 has a mandatory 8GB instal

You do realize Rockstar have already stated that GTA V is bigger than GTA IV, San Andreas AND RDR combined right ??

"This is a serious thread, and please no console wars".

"Why did you people even buy a 360 if you knew this was going to happen? Because it's cheaper?"

Wow, very hypocritical of you there. This game will be 2 discs, one for singleplayer, one for multiplayer. The only game to be multiple discs for xbox was L.A Noire, and that was because the facial animation technology took up a huge amount of space. There may be an optional HD texture pack, but it isn't going to be like 5 discs.

And for those saying 1 disc for each story, you do realize that you can switch from one character to another at any time right? That wouldn't make any sense at all. I mean, look at how they fit the original SA onto 1 disc on the PS2. They've had experience with this before, and I can trust Rockstar that they aren't going to make it anymore than 2 discs.

Well, yes, but the map doesn't take up a huge amount of space. You act like the map alone would take up like 8 GB.

And to your earlier post: My guess as to why GTA 4 Complete Edition is on 2 discs for Xbox and 1 disc for Ps3, is just to make it as simple as they can be.

By making it 2 discs on the XBox, they don't even have to worry about not having enough space, It will literally not be a thought in R*'s mind.

However, with the Ps3, they don't have to worry about space, so they save money on discs and put it all on one.

My reason for Xbox having 2 discs? Ease of mind. My reason for Ps3 having 1 disc? Money-saver.

Disk 1: Heist 1-3

Disk 2: Heist 4-6+Story concluion

You can access all the side activities and minigames from both disks but the main story will be split into two disks.

I am thinking about getting a PS3 as well. Mostly just as an ease of kind thing because I know I won't even have to worry at all about discs and such.

Nope.

I think the reason for 2 discs for the 360 version of GTA IV: The Complete Edition was because the 360's DVD9 format either could not handle it or could not handle it well enough to be on one disc.

That's my view.

2 discs is a realistic scenario. Definitely no more than 3 discs
