I'm sure you all remember Skyrim and how it's not even 4GB in terms of disc space, thanks to compression techniques. Maybe Rockstar can do something similar?

null vote.... probaby 2 discs, but you download data from first disc, then second disc, then just use the first disc to play....

I think this.. Have other games done this yet?

I doubt R* will have disc change in an open world game.. I get deep into GTA games and feel like frequent disc changes would break my immersion.

Forza 4 did and it worked fine.

Two discs brah, either we install one like the guy above said, or there's going to be a SP disc and an MP disc.

I believe this will be the most likely situation. No way in the world will the 360 version be on one disc.

why would it be two disks on ONLY the 360? why wouldn't it be one or 2 for both ps3 and 360?

I'm glad I'm buying this game for the PS3.

1 Disc + lead platform.

I'm not saying the 360 version will be any worse, but changing discs?

It's something I hate doing..

I still say it's going to be one disc. There's no way to swap discs during a GTA game. I can't believe anyone who thinks disc swapping would work in GTA has ever played a GTA game before.

why would it be two disks on ONLY the 360? why wouldn't it be one or 2 for both ps3 and 360?

Because the Ps3 used Blu-ray, which can hold a lot, although you usually have to install things before you can play the game, don't know if this is because of the console or the drive itself.

Xbox has regular DVD drive, which means low capacity (around 8GB I think), but it doesn't have to do mandatory installs to play games. It's put in and play, but at the cost of multiple discs sometimes.

Hvitdverg: Ps3 isn't the lead platform. There is no lead platform.

I'm not trying to start a console war.

But seeing Rockstar presenting the game on a PS3, every single time so far.

It seems to me like the PS3 is "lead platform".

They usually show the version that is running the best, don't they?

Limit Break

There's no lead platform, they'll look identical. Maybe the xbox will have more smaller details for the fact tbat it has more memory and a few lighting differences.

I think the two disk sounds the most realistic. I mean, you have one that you install, and the other that contains the rest and you play with that one. I seriously doubt were going to get a collection of disks to swap out while playing.

Yeah, one disk for multiplayer, one disk for main story. That´s all, there is no way it´s three disk.

I was thinking 2 discs but if what the Articles said is correct and just pressing down takes you straight to multiplayer then they would have to have multiplayer installed on both discs. So from now I think it will only be on 1 disc

Well, we have to take into consideration what Rockstar has said.

You can go anywhere on the map from start, so we wont be swapping discs for free-roam, so most of the GTA fans wont have to worry about disc swapping too much.

They said you can do the heists in any order, if they're on multiple discs, the amount of times you have to swap discs could vary throughout the singleplayer of the game from player to player.

OP doesn't know the extent of which they can compress things.

It will be 1 disk for all or 2, one for multi/one for single.

Kid trying to hate on xbox lol.

No he's not, he's stating valid concerns.

Many 360 games in recent years have required multiple discs, even GTA IV+Episodes. I can't see how discussing a likely scenario based on truthful factors is hating.

GTA IV + EFLC is not a two disc game, it's two standalone games packaged together that were previously sold separately.

That may be true, that may not be true. For all we know, the Xbox is a little farther behind development wise than the Ps3, and that's why they're showing it. It could also be because R*'s recent open world games, such as RDR and GTA 4, have been better on the Xbox, and they're trying to show that it's not the case this time.

Point is, there is no lead platform, as R* has previously stated. We will not know why R* has shown only Ps3 demos unless they say so, and I guarantee you they won't.

A possible reason for PS3 demos that I just thought of is that it's just easier to put a demo build together when storage limits aren't as tight. Whatever number of Xbox 360 discs it will be, it will be a tight fit that takes a lot of optimization work to accomplish. When they put together demo builds of the game for PS3, the capacity of Blu-ray is more forgiving and they don't have to spend as much time getting file sizes down.

I may be off the mark and maybe developers can run games entirely off hard drives, but it's just a thought.
