OPTIONAL

Can some one link me the review where it says so?

Optional can mean many things. Like is it possible to disable it at all? Or is it just like you don't HAVE to press the button, the game will just get harder if you don't?

I'm not really a fan of it either. It's much more like a thing to be found in Saints Row but not in a GTA.  (same as auto regen and checkpoints sadly)

I know some people don't seem to be able to accept criticism towards this game but I really think it doesn't fit for a game supposed to be "kinda" realistic.

Once again. Adrenaline pills.

http://gta.wikia.com/Adrenaline

Once again it was a freaking joke in the game, but in GTA V It's gonna be a commonly used feature. We don't need that.

It will only be commonly used if YOU choose to do so. What is so hard to understand about that?

"Commonly used feature" - For Michael. I's a fun feature, it makes combat interesting and less monotonous. Weren't people complaining about IV being to realistic? Now it's too arcade-y?

Surprised you guys don't remember the power-ups used in some of the GTA III series... The power ups have been in past GTA's and quite frankly I wouldn't make a big deal about this. GTA does not have to be all about realism.

Like MANY people have said in this thread already. This kind of stuff is NOT NEW for GTA. Did any of you guys moaning actually play the GTA3 era games at all???? I'm over the moon that they are in the game and can't wait to use all of them! lol.gif

Yeah im 23 i played from GTA 2. What are you refering to in gta 3? I know the games where never about perfect realism, but this is ridiclious imo. Just watch the video below and imagine Claude, Vercitti, CJ, or Niko diving about in missions like this. And tell me it fits into a gta game. I think anyone who is a true gta fan will think this is a stupid feature that should be kept in other games. GTA is one of the few games that keeps things real to point and still keeps the fun.

I've played GTA since the first. GTA needs to upgrade. Lets look at Red Dead Redemption.

When I read the kotaku article, I like every bit of it.

It's weird to go onto the forums dedicated to this very game hating every part of it.

Do you even read the thread? Special character abilities is now the same thing as "every part"? Wtf?

BULLET TIME, SLOW MO DRIVING, DOUBLE DAMAGE Isnt very gta they need to keep it more realistic. Happy enough with other things especially the animals. If they have mountain lions it will be a vast ammount.

Yeah screw 3D too. Lets go back to the roots. 2D over head baby!

Oh yeah and the 3 player thing is dumb and so are cutscenes.

Why the hell is R* allowing us to customize our cars and characters? That is sooo not GTA 1

Only bullet time has been confirmed. Besides, remember, it's Michael we're talking about. The guy the previews said walks slower than the rest of the cast because he's older. I doubt he's going to go ninja.

Agreed, I'm not using bullet time, slow mo, double damage. It seems more like... saints rowy or max painey to me. I hope they have an option to disable this.

It's optional for a reason... like taking cabs to fast-travel.

Didn't see anybody complaining about about this in MP or RDR though. You don't want it just because it doesn't fit with GTA gameplay? I'm sure firing from cover wasn't in GTA either until IV came around. Do you want that gone too, so it's a completely arcade shooter?

I was here to post my opinion on this matter. I liked the cover system, blind firing, I liked. I liked it in RDR because it matched the wild west, for me anyways, like duels, etc etc, and plus, RDR is not a series, and I'm hoping it does become one.

All I'm hoping for was a way to go through menu, and turn it off, so I do not see an annoying green- yellow whatever colored the bar is going to be in the corner of my eye.

You are so hilarious. Where does he says such a thing?

Are you working at R* and had this idea and now you try to defend it? What the f*ck is wrong with you? Srsly, isn't it allowed to critisize the parts you don't like?

To be completely honest I'm also not a big fan of the three characters, the checkpoints and the special abilities. But I still think this game is going to be really really good. But there are some points I don't like about it.

(but ofc I'm an idiot like everyone else complaining. you are the idiot in this topic)

I respect your opinion, but you're still asking for them to let you disable a completely optional feature. You can also ask them to disable cheat codes as well because some people can't help themselves and use them even though they don't want to.

If you want a somewhat monotonous cover shooting shootout, then just don't use the feature. I'm sure the recharge bar won't be that large and won't give you a message the size of your screen saying "Use it, it has recharged".

Oh we're the same age bugger me! I said GTA3 'era'. As in gta:3 - gta:sa/VSstories etc.....

GTA isn't about realism and never has been. It's insulting to hear you come out with sh*t like 'I think anyone who is a true gta fan will think this is a stupid feature that should be kept in other games.' What a load of ****!

I'm going to reserve judgement until I use it in-game myself, if I like it great adds to the fun, if don't I simply won't use it, so it being included isn't a issue for me.

IMO Max payne looks like true crime or sleeping dogs. Some guy running and diving about a room in slow motion with 30 men shooting at him at once and doesnt get killed wtf.

Somebody give this gentleman a slap.

Immediately.

I actually don't mind these abilities, car slo-mo was very fun in NFS most wanted, bullettime worked great in other R* games, I think these will only add to the fun, besides I'm guessing using them isn't mandatory (kind of like the cover system in mp3, most of the game I played without using it).

The Scottish Guy

The guys in here that are against the implementation of bullet time have probably never played Max Payne 3. The amount of cinematic epicness that came with the feature in that game is second to nothing in the industry. And if you've played the game, you'd realise it's very far from easy.

The news we're getting it as a feature in V has made me a very happy camper today.

The amoutn of fanboyism in this topic is insane.

The way you guys deify this game and R* as gods that can do no wrong is ridiculous. If R* told you people to murder your families half of you would do it.

Just because they're an extremely good game dev doesn't mean that they are immune to criticism.

Exactly! A few years ago people said that IV was too realistic, and shooting from cover certainly became monotonous, at the least the way it was implemented. Now people are against this saying it's "not realistic"? Well sure, let's sacrifice fun for realism sake.

SPECIAL's (Bullet Time, Frenzy Mode) its obviously a Rockstar attempt to go back to the true roots of GTA series with this skill they implemented for new GTA era that you can activate any time when needed, and pretty much it will be time limited.

They are nothing less than "Adrenaline Pills" from previous GTA games, or "Frenzy Pill" (don't remember exactly but you get an idea)

I won't be using the specials 24/7, because I prefer the "regular" gunplay and driving, which will be improved upon even without the specials.

The amount of hate is also insane. I still haven't heard of any decent criticism regarding these implementations other than "It's not gta" and "it's unrealistic" - 2 really stupid excuses if you ask me.
