BullworthAcademy
You can tell they thought "Hmm, what can we do to make this game more exciting to the children?.. I know! Let's include slow-mo, bullet time and rage mode!" These abilities make it hard to take the game seriously. But fair play, not like it's going to ruin the game for me, i just won't use it. Considering this game isn't made for children under the age of 17, I don't think they even care about the children dumbass. They did it because people actually like this and if they don't its optional, and I know for a fact people like will hate it, use it, find a use for it and end up liking it Lol, you idiot. I think they're well aware GTA players aren't all over the age of 18. I think they and everyone here, is well aware plenty of children of all ages, play GTA regularly. If you don't like it, GTFO. THEY'RE OPTIONAL.
Miss Darko
It's the way I feel about many controversial new things, like the musical score and these abilities: they're options that won't have to used. It's perfectly fine to not like them, but they're not forced on us. The only controversial thing that's unavoidable is the partial regeneration. Personally I don't mind it, but I'm sure some do. At the same time, though, I think the gameplay will account for that and thus the combat will be more challenging as a result. We'll see, though. I'll also say that I doubt Michael's ability will slow down time as much as in Max Payne or look as stylized. But that's really more of a superficial thing. @zzcool You can in fact train the skills, as confirmed by various previews. You won't get one character quite up to the same level as another character who has a specific proficiency in that skill, but you'll be able to get close enough that I doubt it'll be much of an issue. CryptReaperDorian
only thing i don't like is that they limit driving abilities to one character including flying so i have to choose a specific character if i want the best experience if i could train one favorite character to be best at everything then fine but limiting it to characters forcing me to switch between them to get the best driving/flying experience i don't like that one bit I actually don't have too much of a problem with that. For instance, since Franklin will be the "best driver", driving with him might feel too arcadish. He might be the best choice when you're getting down to business, but I might want to stick to either Michael or Trevor if I just want to have fun while driving (since the handling of vehicles will probably be a bit looser). I even find driving in GTA SA to be a bit more fun when the skill is maxed out.
marcx
BULLET TIME, SLOW MO DRIVING, DOUBLE DAMAGE Isnt very gta they need to keep it more realistic. Happy enough with other things especially the animals. If they have mountain lions it will be a vast ammount. Yeah, god dammit. I hate features, we need less improvement and more GTA III. u don't have to use these features. Instead we get bullet time and slow-mo and you tards are happy with that. They went into some improvements in the Wanted level, the ability to rob various places, and the complexity of the heists, bringing much more mission freedom than we've ever had in GTA. The game's features and improvements extend well beyond this, these 'abilities' were more of an aside than anything.

Not the full on ones, no, but even way back in the GI article they mentioned stuff like being able to spot, take down, and steal from security vans in free roam, just as a randomly generated side activity. DlZZEE
We still don't know how will it look ingame, I also found this special abilities weird but perhaps they might even remove it, who knows? There was a lot of false info in GTA IV previews.
sddales
I actually think these are really good features. Instead of having three interchangeable characters that could essentially be swapped out, they've made three characters that form a team. Picture it: Trevor messed up the guys swarming in to kill you at the jewelry heist with his rage, then Michael clears a path to a getaway vehicle with bullet time and finally Franklin drives the getaway vehicle and uses his skills to lose the cops just long enough to dump the car in a desolate car park and grab a second vehicle. Their abilities are conducive to working together when used properly.

Crimewave
I have to admit, out of everything i've heard, bullet time, slow mo and double damage was the biggest let down, generic abilities like this, literally just a gimmick. I'd much prefer they kept it casual instead of trying to include silly things like this. Dont use it then.

Racecarlock
If you really want total realism, get Mafia II and then Mafia III when it comes out. Hell, get joe's adventures if you want free roam for mafia II. The rest of us will be enjoying a game where we can hang out in a club one minute, barrel roll in a jet the next, ride the waves on a jetski the next, rob a clothing store the next, and then end the day with a lovely sports car mountain drifting session. If you really want GTA IV again, just go play GTA IV.
