That's fine by me. I still think it would have been cool to have endless desert terrain.

The Scottish Guy

I would've preferred endless desert, just like endless water to give it a less isolated feel, but meh, whatever.

It would be easier to render because it's just a flat surface, whereas with water you have to generate waves. And it wouldn't have to have barriers. I don't get why you think that.

The world IRL is an island.

/thread

That's deep man. My mind is also an island. Everything is an island.

I'm pretty pleased with this. Considering the ocean is actually going to be explorable, it's cool that it surrounds Los Santos. Would you really prefer a mountain range that you couldn't climb over? It looks cool, but it doesn't provide anything further.

waves are dynamically generated though, technically flat. GTAIII and VC had invisible walls in the limited ocean. SA was the first one to have infinite sea.

Wrong.

If you don't want to go out into the endless desert, you wouldn't have to. It would be a nice option for those who want it.

OMG SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT OH MAH GERD IM NOT BAYIGN THIS GAIEM .

-_- Who the hell cares about the borders of the map when you could be blowing sh*t up with Trevor, walking 'round the hood with Franklin and driving in a sports car with Michael (not all at the same time tounge.gif)

If you complain so much about the game, dont buy it.

I am neutral about this topic, actually. I never took care about the island/infinite desert map.

Correction, it would be totally retarded and make the map look completely unnatural. How do you think the coast would work, not only that but you couldn't have just a flat surface, you'd need texture, terrain, variation, wildlife, you know, things to make it look believable as a desert, random waves are much easier to produce than an infinite desert.

EDIT: Not only that but all land mass on earth ends eventually. I seriously don't understand what's so disappointing about an island. A floating city is sh*t as f*ck and more than ridiculous, but as long as it has other towns and country side, basically a world outside the city, an island works perfectly.

Fly a plane as far as you can, crash and survive, realize last save was hours ago, have to walk back to a city to save.

Is that your idea of fun?

Actually i've played computer games since the original playstation. I can even remember the moment i opened it for the first time on Christmas day. When i played san andreas i would of only been 12 so i wasn't really concerned about how the map was surrounded by water. Now i am older and wiser i care for realism somewhat in certain games i play, GTA being one of them. I just cant imagine this fictional america in the GTA universe having cities that are lone islands and not one big landmass.

I'm happy it's not landlocked. It'd be dumb to have it be that way when you can fly higher than the highest mountains.

I'm fine with a giant ass island, just as long as it gives me the illusion of it being connected to the mainland like SA did.

Simple. He'll just walk his back to civilization.

You're older and wiser and care for realism, so you wish for invisible magical walls to impede us. Ok.
