Which game developer ruined the fun of PS3 / Xbox 360 / Wii Generation gaming?

My vote goes to Activision with their early head start on content cutting and day 1 DLC, along with the fact that forever to be drooled over yearly release Call of Duty has become an international sensation among 12 year olds. (No offense to most 12 year olds.)

Well? Who do you think brought the worst of the worst this gen?

I forgot to mention, and this hiding in the back of my mind probably made me pick Activision:

NASCAR 2011 and Inside Line... without a doubt the worst racing games I have ever played. They absolutely bombed both these games. Great ideas, like using telemetry from actual races... but POOR POOR execution like EVERYTHING ELSE IN THE GAMES.

Capcom has been bigger as*holes than Activision dude, on disk DLCs on day one and stuff is annoying.

EA wins both threads.

Considering Rockstar have 29 vote and EA have 14

Votes don't stack up against facts. EA ruined this gen with their deceitful business tactics to get as much money from gamers as possible. If you need more information, look up The Worst Company In America, which EA won 2 years in a row now.

As for the best company, dude. We're on a GTA forum. People vote with their own interest, not with the facts. R* is my favourite developer, but it doesn't hide the fact that EA dominated this gen for the same reason they won the 'ruined this gen' thread. Their deceitful tactics that make them so much money. As I've stated in the other thread, they had online passes, micro transactions, and day 1 DLC, all of which make them substantial amounts of money.

YES! Someone else who played them! They are complete sh*t, aren't they? lol.gif

2011 was buggy as all hell, the damage model was just f*cking wierd, instead of dents and deformation, the sheetmetal simply shaves off when rubbing into someone... So much sh*t was missing that was in the EA NASCAR games. Thunder 2003, 2004, and 2005 were the best, 06 was great, then they went downhill. I still play those, but Activision/Eutechnyx are just beating a dead horse making more NASCAR games.

Not to mention CoD... rolleyes.gif

EAsily the worst company involved in games this gen.

What I don't like about them is over the past few years they've started to influence the content of the games. Every game has to be a dudebro shooter with a multiplayer mode tacked on to it. When the game susequently fails...sack everybody.

Ha! I know! My favorite NASCAR game is 2005, and comparing that to 2011 is like comparing ice cream to poop.

The controls killed me in those games. I can't stand how the cars feel. Like in 2005 driving felt really smooth. 2011 feels like I'm driving bathtubs with ARCA brakes.

And the crashes. Wow.

it's Activision, and always be.

maybe CAPCOM have made sh*t ton of DLC, and EA have made sh*t games. but Activision is where it all begins, and lot of company are trying to be like it.

off-topic: look at the V sector now, and all I see is a bunch of newbies who made crap topics with their nonsense logic. it's more like an off-topic sector than an V sector, except that it fills with retards and bollocks. jeez, I don't know if company is the only one to blame.

EA have redeeming qualities as some of their content is actually good, mainly thanks to DICE. Mirrors Edge was amazing and Battlefield is the best FPS you can buy if you want a proper war experience. I still think the best arcade shooter is Counterstrike: Source. Halo WAS pretty cool, but not since Halo 2, which was a while ago. I suppose the new ones are cool for the younger generation though. Don't get me started on CoD...

That's why I voted Activision.

Mr.Mordecai

The one's who bought the horse armor dlc.

The Gamers ruined it. They tried to implent it, and we took it. Those companies all made great games at one point, but some sold out, but you can't blame them if they want to make easy mone, since we are the ones buying it.

They manipulate everyone and are aloud to get away with it. The people that pass the laws on how they operate (politicians) are all corrupt as f*ck so we don't really have a chance. How many politicians play games?

Blame your government.

You're saying that like we can't do anything. Ultimately, it's up to the consumer. (

Battlefield is the best FPS you can buy if you want a proper war experience.

I take it you've never played Arma, Red Orchestra or Operation Flashpoint.

Or Spec Ops The Line

EA all the way.

Sure, Activision set a terrible precedent with the CoD franchise and loads of other FPS games, including the overrated Battlefield franchise, have followed suit. I love Zombies and got raped buying each Treyarch CoD DLC, but that was my choice. Even with Zombies, no map pack is truly worth $15 and shame on Activism for charging so much.

That said, I still think EA is worse. Activision may have milked CoD, but the CoD franchise's "if ain't broke, don't fix it" methodology has been the key to its success and is part of its charm. How much potential did CoD really have in the first place, anyway? It's EA that takes game franchises destined for greatness (Dragon Age, Mass Effect), rushes them, and turns them into sh*t. That is a greater travesty to me than milking a franchise that was never great to begin with.

Also, EA Sports games are way more shameless rehashes of old content than CoD. At least CoD gives you new maps and a new campaign. A new Madden or FIFA basically only gives you a new player roster! Also, Activision doesn't require online passes and isn't out to destroy the used game industry like EA.

No developer or publisher ruined the generation. The gaming of this generation isn't even ruined. Good games are still being made every year.

You hate these companies because of your own bad habits. They can churn out the same old sh*t every year like Call of Duty because you morons will buy it. And they can extort you for DLCs and pass codes because you'll let them. They know the games are sh*t and are bleeding you dry, but millions of kids are buying them anyway, so why should they change? Like Mr.Mordecai said, they tried to implement something, and millions of you took the bait. I'd do the same in their position - the demographic is perfect for it.

The thing to remember is that nobody is forcing you to buy sh*t games. These companies aren't actually robbing you. They aren't ruining your life. Go outside. It's a f*cking depressing commentary on society when a video game company wins Worst Company twice in a row.

It's Activision, not EA. EA destroyed their IP's by simply trying to do what Activision does. Activision set the trend, EA is just trying to follow. Unfortunately, that trend is all about making a dumber game that appeals to the widest audience.

All cool games but I still think Battlefield offers the best FPS package.

Lol, Spec Ops: The Line... It's average and it's not even an FPS.

Other: the gaming public. You're the reason developers push out bullsh*t titles and you just lap it all up. I'm with Harley.

It's not average.

Have you played it?

Has there ever been a game that's more emotional than Spec Ops: The Line?
