GTA IV Program Not Responding

About three days ago i bought GTA IV from steam. The download was successful and installed perfectly. First time i ran GTA everything ran smoothly, logged into the social club and the game loaded up fine. But today i logged into the social club the game ran through the characters then went onto the black loading screen but just before it loads i get a windows message saying that GTA IV is not responding. I have the latest patch and my graphics card is 1GB and for GTA i set it to only use 850mb of the graphics card. I have more than enough RAM.

 

Would appreciate any suggestions please
