Happyness Posted May 2, 2013 Share Posted May 2, 2013 For me the whole concept of Franklin is badass, I mean you rarely see someone trying to get out of the gang life, aiming for something bigger. I hope we get tons of side-activities/mission with Franklin involving South Central. I think it will be my favorite place to explore. I'll just go about flipping everyone off until I get tired of seeing the same reactions, will be pretty fun. Trevor sounds awesome to, as a matter of fact, I started to like him more than before, him and Michael are on the same level. It would be pretty hard to make a choice on killing a protag because no matter what we say now we will find a liking to all 3 protags so think about having to kill 1 hopefully it won't happen. That c*nt is by far the all time worst GTA protag ever for me. TBoGT was a pretty fun game, but he ruined it a little. Everytime I'd watch the cut scenes, I'd find myself rooting for his enemies. Although I thought CJ was a bit of a bitch, I liked him personality wise, he had character. So yeah, I hope Franky boy holds no parallels personality wise with Luis. Just look at the thread. With the three characters R* is allowing us fans to tailor our experience to what we enjoy in a GTA game! Fans of Tommy Vercetti have Michael. Fans of CJ and San Andreas have Franklin. And fans of chaos have Trevor. That is just another reason why September 17th couldn't come any sooner! YoungChrist Posted May 2, 2013 Share Posted May 2, 2013 I really can't see Frankling being as annoying and naive as CJ. He seems awesome. The new trailers boosted my thoughts on Trevor too. Yeah, like I just dont see much similarities besides "black guy in gang". CJ seemed like a very basic, undeveloped character. Didn't care all that much for CJ as a character tbh, I mean I liked him but Franklin seems like an infinitely more interesting character. Franklin seems like the Niko of this trio. The fact someone can derive him as "uneducated" is laughable aswell. I doubt he has a masters degree in engineering , but he doesn't need to have futher education to have a well developed intellect. He's clearly got some brains to get of the hood. Most men his age would probably stay and get killed. I think he's going to be a great protagonist. exactly, even in the recent preview ign describes Franklin as the smarter, more pragmatic of the bunch. See the thing about black people is we never hate on white people; if anything we try to embrace and dwell into your culture and vice versa. I don't know why whites are so obsessed with hating on black people and our culture. When you look at it all three characters are in the same game. They'll kill for money, rob niggas, kidnap people, steal cars. So what's the difference from Franklin if Mike and Trevor are doing it? Obviously it's race. GTA San Andreas was the highest selling GTA game on PS2 and it was based off of gang banging. That's because our culture buys the games more than any one else does. Franklins character has more trailer views on the youtube than Michael and Trevor and that's fact. Just chill with the racism and accept the fact that at the end of the day Franklin will be the most popular and remembered character from GTA 5. They all have territories that you can use them in as I listed above. If you not trying to be in LS with Franklin then just chill in Vinewood or Red County. In any case, your reasoning about SA's success being due to "our culture" is highly suspect. Considering SA's incredible sales were mainly in the Western world where whites are the racial majority, I'd be willing to bet the majority of gamers who bought SA were white. This contradicts your whole "whites are so obsessed with hating on black people and our culture" theory. As for your assurance that Franklin will be the most popular character, I'm skeptical. It has nothing to do with racism (throwing the race card around willy nilly is really unbecoming btw) and everything to do with the fact that Franklin sounds and acts like Luis 2.0, while Michael and Trevor have unique personalities (for GTA protags). Hoping I'm wrong, but Franklin himself seems to be outshined by his gang affiliation and surroundings, whereas Michael and Trevor shine on their own. Also, the whole "protags should stick to their territories" argument... isn't that called segregation and isn't segregation historically racist?
