lambo3500
Can't wait to use Franklin... Btw, didn't want to start a new topic but wanted to point it out... I know Ice Cube said he was not Franklin, but he did tweet a while back @icecube: Sorry homie, I'm not Franklin in the new Grand Theft Auto game. Close but no cigar. Although he admits he is not Franklin, he did say "Close." If you listen to Lamar when he say "Snitch" at the 20th second in the Franklin trailer, he sounds just like Ice-Cube. What do you think? GlitzyTomb
Awful lot of people using "das racist" to win arguments here. People whose opinions differ from yours are not automatically racist. That's not how it works. Incidentally... After the trailers I've become less interested in playing with Michael and more interested in Franklin and Trevor. Trevor because he seems to be quite chaotic and I'm interested in how that develops...and Franklin because I'm curious to see what he thinks of these other two. Both Trevor and Franklin should awesome environments to run around in too. Desert slums or city slums. Michael...still fun certainly...and perhaps the story will change this...but his portrayal thus far makes it hard for me to imagine him running around carjacking people or getting into firefights. Franklin would make more sense, jacking cars as part of his job or just on the side for extra money...or getting into firefights due to lingering gang loyalties or just to protect friends. Trevor...he doesn't much seem to need a reason. So for me it's Franklin and Trevor and they're roughly even.

evoluon--720
Its obvious Lamar or someone close to Franklin is going to die or go to prison. Franklin-like most GTA charactersr will be introduced to the diverse dynamics of the criminal underworld leave the gang banging lifestyle but still "keep it real" by paying his dues and giving his friends some work. The chemistry between the 3 protagonist seems kinda strong too. I think they might all be close by the end of the game

douggoud
I think people have this weird misconception that Franklin is a gangster (well, yeah he technically is, actually, he obviously is), and wants to stay one. If you've watched his trailer, you'd know that that isn't the case. In fact, half the trailer was about him going on about how he basically wanted out, or how stupid the gang sh*t was. And saying he's like CJ is a tad on the racist side, because, lets be honest, CJ wanted back into the gang scene after getting out. Franklin just wants out (whether or not he'll want back in at some point in the story has yet to be seen obviously). Because, other than being in a gang, they really aren't as similar as people think they are. Regardless of that, I'm going to love playing as all 3 of them. Trevor because (I'm guessing) the gasoline thing will be just his little thing to do, and Micheal and Franklin, probably won't be able to do it (though I may be wrong). And he'll probably have easier access to planes and military sh*t. Franklin, from what I've seen, will most likely have more access to more cars than Micheal and Trevor, might even have access to backup from his "gang", though I suspect that won't be the case because of what I said earlier, he wants out, and I'm sure his gang isn't too pleased about that. And Micheal probably has some sort of thing that Trevor and Franklin don't (I can't think of it at the moment). Either way, it's gonna be fun, we all know that. He's similar to Cj because of the setting I didn't say he is Cj. I don't remember addressing you specifically in my post, I'm pretty sure I was speaking about everyone in general that has compared to two. Mista J
After the new trailers I still have Franklin at the bottom of the pack. Just prefer Michael and Trevor over him.
GourangaMaster
Franklin and michael are total polar opposites. It is no suprise there will be a polarity on peoples opinion of the characters. This goes beyond the obivious racial difference. MICHAEL - Old rich man who has everything wanting to get back to illegal activities because he isnt content with his crime free yet prosperous existance. FRANKLIN - young working class man with the desire to move away from petty criminal activities in order to change his life and move away from the ghetto. They may both have the same means, namely heists, but their ends and motivations are completely different imo. This is why im looking to forward to playing as both of them as they are moving in the same direction but on seperate paths, which is bound to lead to some interesting plot developments. ANT_P1989
I love this topic You wanna know why you love it.... because me and you are both men of color (fancy way of saying we are of Negro descent) and we like to sit back and see who is the closet racist...outta of the bunch. You're not the only one's. yup Count me in too. Yes, as am I. Goddammit lets ban together and take this sh*t back for the black man! No, I'm kidding, that's how unnecessary race wars start. I'm just sick of the whole "uneducated gangbanger" theory, so I figure I drop my 2 cents. (I'm broke you see..) Count me in, I, as well, am a Black Man. 23yrs young. YoungChrist
I really can't see Frankling being as annoying and naive as CJ. He seems awesome. The new trailers boosted my thoughts on Trevor too. Yeah, like I just dont see much similarities besides "black guy in gang". CJ seemed like a very basic, undeveloped character. Didn't care all that much for CJ as a character tbh, I mean I liked him but Franklin seems like an infinitely more interesting character. Franklin seems like the Niko of this trio. The fact someone can derive him as "uneducated" is laughable aswell. I doubt he has a masters degree in engineering , but he doesn't need to have futher education to have a well developed intellect. He's clearly got some brains to get of the hood. Most men his age would probably stay and get killed. I think he's going to be a great protagonist. To just ignore it ? They will get called out, expect no less.
Gtaghost22
I must be the only white guy on this forum that likes franklin lol. No, I'm white as well and Franklin is my favourite. He is not an ''uneducated gang-banger'' like most people say, he obviously got some brains like Miamivicecity explained. I think he will be a great protagonist. archiebunker
Franklin reminds me of Louis Lopez, not CJ, because of the whole old life and old friends vs. new life and new friends dynamic, and wanting to rise up from a dead-end life of petty crime. Platinvm
It's not even funny anymore how close minded a lot people act. Think outside of the box and the characters (all of them) will surprise you in a good way. For an example: I liked seeing Michael throwing stuff and creating chaos around him, while he looked like a calm guy before. To me Franklin looks like a smart guy who's trapped in his surroundings. Trevor seems to me the guy who dóes have emotional problems and uses his maniacal behavior to hide how he feels. But maybe I'm completely wrong and that's what we can only find out later. nigelhere9901
he just reminds me of Cj too much That's why I don't like Franklin. U won't say that when u are driving through balla territory with your gang hanging out the windows spraying with Uzis and mac 10s it will look unreal with high def graphics. Of course I won't say that, because I won't play as an uneducated gangbanging hoodlum. I'd be playing as a classy Michael I smell racism.
MassacreGTA
Me too, I can't wait to play as Franklin. But Michael and Trevor are great too. I will use Franklin for most things. I will use Michael when I want to rob banks, drive expensive cars and feel like a boss. I will use Trevor when I want to kill people, do crazy things and feel like a psychopath. reform
Ultimately I'll probably decide who to play as most based on each characters' incidental dialogue, i.e- the stuff they say during freeplay.
jamieleng
In GTA, you don't use Franklin, Franklin uses you. God that was terrible. My faves are still Mike & Trev, but the trailers have made me like them all a lot more. Franklin's trailer was very different to the other two, more serious. I don't know about real LA gang life, but that trailer looked very authentic (R* tours of the hood have really paid off).

Trust me bro, Rockstar seemed to have got the hood right after seeing Franklin's trailer. Franklin is definitely my favourite protagonist, but I'm very interested in Michael's story too. I wanna see that mid-life crisis and family theme play out, it's not been done before in GTA. But the explosive hood action in Franklin's trailer just looks too exciting and cool, the swag was too much! For me it slightly overshadowed the rest. jolzew1
I actually don't look forward to Franklin as much as Micheal and Trevor, but it's true that Franklin's trailer was amazing and showed a lot of action scenes with poilce car chases. I guess that is why most people are more looking for franklin now... I thought Franklins trailer was the best and I think it's the only one that showed any actual game play. Right after the scene that shows the helicopter looking down on the police chase it goes to the first person view of the chase on the highway, only lasts a few seconds but that looked like it was real game play/not cutscene, trailer footage...and to me, it looked unfreakingbelievable! Can't wait for this game.

In saying that I do find Franklin interesting. It'll be an interesting dynamic within the trio with Franklin. The younger guy full of ambition.
