zainzombie
Hell no. I am glad its on current gen. Not only because I wont be getting a next gen console until late next year but also because now that R* knows alot about current gen consoles and have upgraded their engine, they will take the current gen consoles to a limit. The Scottish Guy
Nope, as V is releasing at the end of the current gens life span, therefore meaning it'll use every little bit of hardware left, thus making an incredible game.

True, but you can also say they would've gotten even more out of the next-gen consoles. They are getting everything out of the current gen, but if they get 50% out of the next-gen, so to speak, it still might have been better, graphically at least. Still, it doesn't matter that much because GTA V is going to be great.

reform
No I don't care. Next gen games aren't usually that much better than current gen for the first year or so.
Heath_89
Well I've made the decision to not get a PS4 until they drop in price a bit, so I'm more than happy about it being a current gen title. It has been a fairly long time since the release of GTA IV so it sort of is about time for a new GTA now.
CommonSeb
At first, yes. But then when you have that copy in your hand and you see what they have created on such ancient hardware... Then you can only dream of whats to come when R* starts to take advantage of next gen consoles - with 16 times the power and then some. Here's hoping for a new Red Dead to test the thing in late 2015 and then... BAM! VI
Ash_735
Gamers are soo UGH these days, look at the PS2, look at the difference between GTA3 and San Andreas, that's down to how they learnt how to get the best out of the hardware. Now Rockstar have had even longer, GTA IV was done in the early days and was one of their first real Next Gen games using RAGE, it's been HALF A DECADE since we last saw a GTA game on consoles, so just imagine how much they've improved to make a jump look great. burner12
No because GTA V can keep me happy until I buy a PS4, in about a year or two. Plus I'm not going to buy a new PS4 game when I already have 7 PS3 games. R* knows that sales will be up with current gen players and not next gen cause they just spent money on a $500 product so they'll wait probably. AtomicPunk
Well, I've said this before, that I cannot understand why console makers don't have the biggest studios creating the first wave of games for next gen so that they can maximize sales. I would buy a PS4 if a new GTA or RDR was headlining. If there's a GTA V for PS4, and it has better graphics, then I may consider it. The console makers need to time everything right with developers so that they can have the games that people want so the systems will sell. It's disorganized. DeafMetal
Nah, I'm happy it's not. They'll take full advantage of the hardware this time around and will know exactly what they're doing. Besides, you still got Watch Dogs for when the ps4 comes around.
BrunoLK
Heh, it would probably be the only game I'd buy for the console, so I wouldn't even bother wasting money in one.

You've got now knowledge at all. If GTA V was released immediately on the PS4 and NOT on the current gen, Rockstar wouldn't make sh*t. Current Gen will make them billionaires in less than six months. But it would be a good idea to port it to PS4 after six/twelve months after PS4 releases, first year of release, not many people are going to buy it. Andreas
The best videogames release at the end of the console generation and the reasons for it are obvious I think. At the start of the console generation, videogame developers have to learn to deal with the new hardware and the software. GTA San Andreas was a huge improvement over GTA III and Vice City in many areas, as you know. Rockstar learnt a lot since the release in GTA IV and you can see it in their titles after that released after 2008 and 2009. Red Dead Redemption for example showed how much the engine improved since GTA IV and EfLC and the vast landscapes are looking truly amazing. The gameworld is looking stunning and the character movements felt a bit clunky, but it was better than in the last GTA. Max Payne 3 improved the gunplay a lot and the animations were very fluidic as it should be, even though it's not bad if the movement feels a bit clunky as they did in IV. GTA V will include a bunch of these improvements and perhaps even many new improvements! Hell, Dan Houser himself said that it's the best time now to release a huge title like this one at the end of the console cycle: With new consoles from Microsoft and Sony reportedly being readied to ship as early as late next year, some may wonder why Rockstar Games is releasing Grand Theft Auto V on current technology instead of future platforms. According to company cofounder Dan Houser, 2013 is a perfect time.[...] "GTA: San Andreas came out at the peak of the PlayStation 2's cycle, and we put out a really good game thanks to that. All the best games for a console come out at the end of the life cycle, right? So now's the best timing of all," he said. Dutch Psycho
San Andreas was released quite close to the last gen switch. Xbox 360 came more then a year later. With gta v a couple months later. Doesnt matter for me anyway i'm not buying a new console for a while.
