Raavi
This is the PBM member shakingass who steals mods and has 20+ accounts on youtube. The thought of him exploding into a fiery inferno upon impact is funny, but plane wrecks are not. Do you feel good now you've posted this? Disgusting. Use a cartoon/movie plane crash but not that killed actual people. – overeducated wonk who fetishises compromise

DarrinPA
. So on seconds 8-9 the nose begins to drop. And if the pilot actually did what he was supposed to, which is let the nose drop and go balls to the wall, he'd probably recover. But you can see from 9-10 seconds the pilot is fighting it and attempts to maintain the climb angle, which is when the plane actually properly stalls, sealing fate of all on board. If the first odd maneuver was caused by the cargo shifting, wouldn't the cargo then shift again [this time forwards] if you let the plane's nose drop to avert the stall? So no matter what he was screwed? @Kirsty - I've debated watching it, and was just about to. Thanks for changing my mind. The only way I'd fly, is if I was the pilot. No, because the weight shifting with the plane in a downward angle wouldn't cause it to stall. Planes only stall in vertical ascent. There'd probably be some other problems presented, but it wouldn't have been the same "totally f*cked" outcome. I agree that the cargo shifting to the front wouldn't cause a stall but that much weight moving forwards would put them into nose dive that would be hard to pull out of, that's why I said he was probably screwed either way. Terrible gif. People losing their lives shouldn't be used to make fun of somebody else.
SmC12
Not sure if it's true, but passengers plane applies too. Pilot and crew must know the total amount of passengers and luggage ithas onboard and then calculate the total combine weight. This will help them determine the amount of fuel they need to reach their destination. Also the luggage inside are balanced out too. On Jan 8 2003 Air MidWest Flight 5481 crash shortly after take off because of this. All on board died, including one on the ground who was injured. There was 2 crew on that flight, Captain Katie Leslie aged 25 and 1st Officer Jonathan Gibbs aged 27, and 19 passengers. Weight is of primary importance for any aircraft no matter how small or what it's used for. Routine passenger flights require precise loadsheet specifications for weight balance in each compartment and weight of fuel, which must then be calculated with atmospheric conditions to determine optimal thrust power, takeoff speeds etc. So for a cargo flight I'd imagine these checks are even more rigorous. I think in the case of this situation, if it was indeed a result of cargo shifting or not being balanced proerply in the first place, there was very little that could be done to recover from a stall at such a low altitude and heavy load. Once that thing start to drop you need a good few thousand feet to recover, which unfortunately wasn't available.

Yeah, it would have been equally as bad, but the stall from ascent you have absolutely no chance of recovery at all. With a nose dive, it's possible he could have pulled out of it enough that the plane hit the ground at survivable velocities instead of just smacking clean into the ground. Luminosity
Thats the most disturbing video of a plane crash i've seen so far. I always thought that the CGI footage of plane crashes in Air crash Investigation was pretty close to the real thing, but it doesn't compare when you know that it's real footage of the last few seconds of the crews lives inside a fuel laden plane falling towards the ground. I wonder what must have happened for their plane to stall so soon after taking off. R.I.P to those who died.

DestaliusDark
I would love to see a topic. Were everyone just, accepts the fact people died, shut up about it and let it go. No need for jokes, no need to be an investigator. Drop it, let it go it's a f*cking plane crash, they died we can't do anything. Red XIII
f*ck, that's horrible, imagine the horror when that plane starts to fall. What makes the plane burst into flames like that? if its the fuel couldn't they implement a system where all the fuel gets released out of the plane when a crash is imminent? Kifflom112
That is horrible. I cannot imagine how the few inside felt knowing the plane was falling! How horrible. And it's surreal how it just fell like that.
Red XIII
I wonder how it happened, was the plane too vertical and stalled? or was it 'terrorists'?

El Dildo
why in gods name is this not headline news? it IS headline news. NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, BBC, and Al-Jazeera (just in the US) all reported on it. pretty crazy video. the plane just stalled out. it doesn't appear to have been attacked. rudy
Christ, that looked like a massive centre of gravity shift, if it was the cargo variant I wonder if something very heavy came loose during take off and went to the tail. Either that or the plane should have pitched the nose up too much and stalled.

El Dildo
Not headline enough to be on the NBC Nightly News. so? that's just a single 30-minute segment of news. after 14 minutes of commercials, they have to decide what is the most vitally important news stories to tell people. unfortunately the plane crash didn't make the cut that time. NBC still reported it on their website and during their morning shows.

Lil ski
And what else gave me chills was when I was in Bagram, flight crew would be VERY strict on the weight limit and always have you standing on scales and weighing you and the bag and the whatever cargo and ask for you to dump some stuff if it was too heavy or whatever. also this reminded me of a dream I had when I was on a (long ass) lay-over in BAF about to fly out back home from deployment, I had a dream that we was about to load up on the airfield and we saw another C-17 who was carrying another company's soldiers on and it was taking off but then it stalled in the air and just crashed just like this video........f*cking creepy...... When my neurons finally kicked in, it was too late as I've already posted the topic. ============================================================================================= Looks like it's not important enough to be headline in the US, CNN is the only one I see with the clip on their front page.
