Red XIII
So, after watching the 3 newest trailers several times I really do think that GTAV is going to feel a lot more arcade-like. The pacing of the game felt a lot faster than it did in GTAIV. The artwork, character models and art direction, to me, point towards a more vibrant arcade feel rather than the gritty grey reality feeling that GTAIV gave. I'm not talking extreme arcade like ridge racer or wipeout but maybe a mix between the character movements of max payne 3 and all out fun like san andreas. This is only my opinion I'm not stating anything as fact but this is what I felt when I watched the 3 trailers. What are your thoughts on the direction GTAV is heading? reform
I think with IV, GTA stepped too far to one side of the line. So far it looks like in V, GTA is going to be far closer to the optimal balance between the two sides.
GTAaLEX117
A game can be realistic and vibrant. Gritty grey isn't a requirement
solofme
Seems to me they have found the middle ground between 3D era and IV, which I think is very positive
AuSsIeThUnDeR36
It's looking more on the San Andreas car handling to me, without the oily road slickness whenever you try taking a corner in IV
Raavi
I hated SA's handling loved IV's. Let's hope they only tweak it slightly. – overeducated wonk who fetishises compromise

yonatan755
I find it perfect people loved san andreas because you knew its a serious game, but also very arcady and fun its the perfect way to make a GTA game, because all the 3 era games had an arcde felling, and it had proved it self as a wining formula
Knife
I don't think it looks arcadey. It's not going to have floating police bribes and arcade driving, nor a totally and utterly bonkers plot like San Andreas. I think it's going to be a very action packed and explosive game, while still grounded in reality. The main problem with GTA IV wasn't the "realism". It was the, overall, dull story that didn't allow for enough action-packed gameplay. The Ballad Of Gay Tony was far better, but it didn't seem absurd or out of place within the world of GTA IV and yet had a guy stealing a train carriage using a helicopter. That's more like it! gta5freemode4eva
I've just watched the trailers on xbox live on my 50 inch 1080 etc etc... the game looks sweeet as... but... that tiny section of chase footage (heli + cops n franklin I presume) in franklins trailer looked quite arcadey. Anyone else get that vibe? I like the handling in 4, I think its quite realistic.
Mokrie Dela
Am i the only one who found the option to increase colour in GTA IV? It never seemed grey to me. I'd prefer a game that feels like gta IV than SA, VC etc I just found it better. We'll all see, though, but it's looking good. The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing. Miss Darko
Am i the only one who found the option to increase colour in GTA IV? It never seemed grey to me. I'd prefer a game that feels like gta IV than SA, VC etc I just found it better. We'll all see, though, but it's looking good. Well luckily GTA V will probably have similar options in the graphics menu to let us play around with the visual style, like bumping down the saturation and bumping up the contrast to get something more similar to IV if people want. I personally might bump down the saturation just a tad. Like maybe one or two notches. I like the vibrancy in the screenshots and trailers, but it's a little bit stylized looking, while I might go for something a little more understated. Also, I agree about IV, to a certain extent. Bumping up the saturation too much just looks unnatural, but the game can look almost as bright and sunny as V if you have the right settings. Most important is to bump up the contrast (which is actually backwards, because it decreases the contrast by making the shadows lighter), which helps a lot. However, it only looks like that during one weather setting: sunny with clear skies, where the sunlight has a warm tone to it. Just about every other weather type has an unnatural-looking sunlight color like blue or brown-ish, which no amount of graphics options can fix (this is caused by the fact that the other types of weather are meant to be overcast, but objects still cast shadows where they wouldn't in real life during overcast weather, so it looks like strangely-colored direct sunlight), and the clear weather rarely happens unless you use cheats to keep it that way (which I used to do until I started a playthrough without activating any cheats and noticed this). Pantera2198
I like every thing their doing. The further AWAY FROM IV they get,THE BETTER. The best thing that IV brought was incredible graphics compared to older generation GTA's,physics, and a pretty buggy cover system, but stripped it of a lot. GTA IV can lay to rest. Besides it's old as F****
Racecarlock
The car handling looks pretty good. Not too slidey like IV, but not super maxi ultra extreme mega grip like SA. I'm kind of glad that they're moving away from certain aspects of realism. There is realism I like which they seem to have added like pedestrians that look and seem even more real than before and even better crash physics, but I definitely wouldn't enjoy having to get gas, pay bills, go to jail on every bust, and having no activities in the game that you can't do in real life such as comedy clubs and bowling. Seriously though, base jumping looks like it could have easily been in IV without needing to get BOGT too.
EDSTEROK
I think with lV the graphics werent where they wanted so they had to mute colors and use that watercolor blurred effects to smooth out the visuals. With V it looks like they have come far with the graphics.

As much as I love GTA IV, I have no idea what the fukc Rockstar were thinking when they removed..um parachutes from a game that allows you to scale 300 metre buildings at will.
