nigelhere9901
Funny joke:How many mb's of RAM does it take to power GTAV on a PC? None. Mwahaha Yea but consoles are crash-proof. Gaming pcs are bugged and always have crash issues. Sorry but I think ill take consistency over quality on this 1. This. And not to mention that you have to update your softwares regularly to run newer games. Consoles are worry-free. That's why I'm planning to get one for future games. You guys have no f*cking idea what you're talking about.

You guys have no f*cking idea what you're talking about. But they're kinda right. If a game is developed for PS3 it will 90% of the time run perfectly on all the other PS3's in the world since they're all the same. PC's are very different so different configurations creates problems for some people.

I<3GTAV
YES, it can handle it! Rockstar will make it work!!! This game is all of their experience from this gen wrapped in one. These topics are becoming kind of endless...

Ash_735
I remember that PS2 had 512mb of RAM. PS3 must have much more then. PS2 has 32MB of RAM and 4MB of VRAM. PS3 has 256MB of RAM and 256MB of VRAM. Xbox 360 has 512MB of RAM Unified (both System and GPU can split how they like).
BillGates
You all forgot microsoft and bill gates are still the kingpins of the pc world. Theyve proven they can do the most with the least. All these other companies are barely starting to do what microsoft was doing 7 years ago and the 360 graphics still hold its own to the competition to this day. Thank you kindly. And yes. 512 MB ram can handle this.

thugzmansion
This thread again huh? Look, I'll just repeat what I said earlier. Developers LEARN how to get MORE out of a console over the lifetime. People say GTA IV pushed consoles to the limit? HAHA, nooo, GTA IV ran on a sh*tty engine that was only Xbox 360 focused at the time. It's been FIVE YEARS since we last saw a GTA Game on a console, that's HALF A DECADE. Compare GTA3 to San Andreas, both PS2 games, both amazingly different, that was only a three year difference. Rockstar have plowed a crap ton of money into RAGE to the point where Max Payne 3 really shown off what it can do (especially on PS3 and PC). Unlike GTA IV, the Max Payne 3 version of RAGE ran at full 1280x720p on BOTH consoles, used newer AA methods (instead of the outdated QxAA blur that GTA IV on PS3 suffered with) and hosted a whole heap of extra grap[hical options on the PC version. The Max Payne 3 version of RAGE was greatly enhanced to deal with stress and performance issues, both console versions ran safely around 30fps easily even hitting 35 and 40 at times, the PC version also ran smooth as butter compared to GTA IV, despite it using multiple forms of AA, SSAO, filters and effects, etc. Team Bondi did NOT use RAGE for L.A.Noire, they used an edited version of an existing engine and then customised it, initially, for PS3, the game performed best on the PS3, I'm sure Team Bondi would have also shared some knowledge with Rockstar on what tweaks they made to make the engine perform so well on the PS3. Look at other games, come on, seriously, compare titles from 2007 and early 2008 to titles released now, they get soo much more out of the hardware now, if that's what other companies can do, do you seriously think Rockstar Games would skimp out now? GTA V is going to end this gen with a bang, they're going to use this knowledge and work and make sure GTA V looks great, performs great and is just overall great NO MATTER WHAT PLATFORM IT'S ON. 5 star post

Most dev's have a hard time using it the first time round. The good thing about Xbox 360 is that it uses unified RAM which is easy to use for dev's. Rock Howard
They know how to make a PS3/360 game. We don't. Precisely. It'll be right.
JonRenemy
However it must be said.. the last open-world game, RDR, did see some improvements on X360 over PS3. Only in graphics/textures.. but it was there, and there are videos that prove it. It's so tiny, and it's stuff you'd almost never notice in real world playing, but PS3 definitely seemed to drag behind. Go find the comparison videos to see for yourself.. again it's negligible but it's there and never really properly explained unless I missed something? Who knows.. this may happen again. djdiond
The game will seriously be unplayable. It will not be able to handle the ram requirements. It will play at 10fps at the best of times. It will have Vsync issues. It is going to have graphical artifact problems. It will cause the CPU too run too hot and cause RRoD and YLoD for many consoles. It will open a blackhole within your TV and suck you and your belongings into another dimension.

PS3 has 256MB of RAM and 256MB of VRAM. Xbox 360 has 512MB of RAM Unified (both System and GPU can split how they like). They don't split the RAM, they both share data seamlessly without the need to go through "things" unlike on PC and PS3, It's a HSA system (Heterogeneous System Architecture), currently what AMD is pushing right now (will arrive on PC with AMD Kaveri APU with GDDR5 RAM), the same architecture is used in PS4. Do you think the performance will be better than GTA IV? Because I felt that GTA IV (even though it was a great game) sometimes had performance issues that were game breaking, like textures popping up while racing and because of that crashing and ending last place R* have had more time and experience to optimize the game for the consoles but the game is also a lot bigger than GTA IV and graphical improvements are made , that is why I worry about the performance. JuventusFC
moron. In a PC the ram is dedicated to many things, like background processes. In a console, it's all for the game. It's probably equivalent to double or 3x the memory in a PC.

LotusRIP
At this stage, a Nintendo 64 has just as much chance at running GTAV as the PC does. That being said because - it currently doesn't exist. So you can take your PC specs and RAM it up your hard drive. Because no PC power in the world will run a game that doesn't exist.
