Can 512mb Ram handle this?

Man I am really worried. In GTA IV, there was alot of pedestrians and cars, but they were almost brain dead. AI didn't do much in that game, and most of the cars on the roads were taxis anyway. As such, 512mb ram was sufficient to load repeat brain dead ai.

In RDR however, any given scene had very few AI, but there was almost always somthing going on. Like dynamic events, character interactions, or people going about their daily businesses. Again, the old hardware was able to render all of this without lag because this time we sacrifice quantity for quality.

But with GTA V, there seems to be both lots of AI on the road, and lots of variances as well (cars, trucks, buses). I'm no expert when it comes to Ram and such, but 512mb ram is really concerning for me.

I really hope there isn't going to be like just 2 cars on the roads because the game will start suffering FPS drops if they render more ai...

Don't worry, Rockstar clearly know what they're doing...

They won't release a game that will be a total flop.

I gotta say I'm kinda worried about the performance as well but I trust R*

R* probably learned how to optimize their games since IV, don't worry. wink.gif

When you open up and play GTA 4 on PS3 or X360 and don't notice the fps drops then you should be fine while playing GTA V.

It's still the same old engine from 2006. Don't worry. RDR works fine so V will too.

And if you load up your PC to play GTAV and then realise it doesn't exist and it's all in your imagination, you'll know you've got a problem.

- "We use the technology we have to create content, and we try not to let ourselves get beholden to the hardware. The fact that hardware's so mature right now is exactly why we're able to go on to the next level. GTA 4 was our first attempt at a new platform and HD visuals, so the first part of development was seriously difficult. Now we know what the hardware's capable of, so it's become a lot easier to move things along and a lot more fun, too."

- "GTA: San Andreas came out at the peak of the PlayStation 2's cycle, and we put out a really good game thanks to that. All the best games for a console come out at the end of the life cycle, right? So now's the best timing of all."

- Dan Houser

Acting like they are going to struggle to give us something that is playable... why? Ignorance aplenty on this forum.

You do realize xbox has constant updates right? They upgrade their hardware all the time that's why its rated #1 in online service. Thats why games look better every year, micrsoft is installing new software chips onto your harddrives. Boosting processing speeds up to speed with most hardware on the market today.

You all forgot microsoft and bill gates are still the kingpins of the pc world. Theyve proven they can do the most with the least. All these other companies are barely starting to do what microsoft was doing 7 years ago and the 360 graphics still hold its own to the competition to this day.

Are you high? Also, updating hardware on a console is a very kick-in-the-nutsack thing to do.

I have to agree with OP that it seems to good to be true, but we just have to trust them. Next previews will provide us with some updated info on smoothness.

So you have to buy a new xbox 360 to play it properly, hmmm sounds legit sarcasm.gif

I trust Rockstar have worked this out. I hope it doesn't mean limiting the speed of vehicles too much to allow the map to load.

I think, although it would have been an interminable wait, they should have waited for next gen consoles.

Have you already seen the trailers? Doesn't look like they are limiting anything to me smile.gif

I am going to get it again for PC when it comes out (if it comes out), so I am not to worried about performance

If you ever played bf3 online you would know there was like a 1.8gb boost chip installed to your hardrive for optimum graphics and playback. Didnt R* do somehing similar with RDR too? They could easily install a 5gb pack with gta V and have the 360 outclassing some high end pcs. With 120gb hdd's coming stock on all xboxs nowadays, I dont see the problem. Period.

Dude, do you know anything about what your talking about?

Your logic:

PS3/360: 256/512 RAM, but with a minor install to the harddrive, it magically increases it's performance to match a high end PC, with i7 processor, 16-32GB ram, GTX 680 Card.

TBH, It's really impossible to believe that this game will actually run on current gen consoles

This game has: Cloth Physics, SSAO, Sub Surface Scattering on character models (I surmise) and much more.

I mean, this is huge.
