The Return of GSF & The Ballas in GTA V

Everyone that doesn't want Grove ST to return are racist white nerds that thought Vice City and IV were better than SA, they use excuses like "i don't like rap music" or "i cant relate to black people" or "i was born in the 80's" but they can relate a to a f*cking psychopath like Tommy Vercetti or a Russian bum called Niko that likes to go bowling with his fat dickhead cousin or the mute from GTA III. SMH

I think people tend to lean towards the character they can relate to. I'm not sure that's necessarily "racist" but in some cases I'm sure it'd be a real f*cking News Flash to some of these kids that surprise, surprise white people are not the only people buying these games.

 

In the same way you want to emulate Robert De Niro in Heat or Jason Statham in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels there's someone else who wants to emulate and relate to Old Dog in Menace II Society or Nino Brown in New Jack City (Hell I want to be Nino Brown in new Jack City). It's all a multifaceted criminal fantasy that plays to different audiences and demographics at the end of the day and I think that's the REAL strength in this up coming game that they've tried to include a little something for everyone.

 

So no one should be like that's "played out" or "it's been done before". It's ALL been done before.

 

Putting it all together in one game hasn't.

If they don't bring the names back I can picture this: a street modelled after Grove St. Although subtle. I think that's the very least they'll do tbh.

I'll be playing with ALL THREE characters equally. Because they all have different traits and I look forward to seeing them all.

 

I'm just happy that the Families and the Ballas are still in Los Santos, because in Los Angeles, Bloods and Crips are still prevalent and still active in

Banging....

 

Hopefully RockStar did the gangs some justice this time around, because back in the 1993 San Andreas the gangs didn't necessarily behave like gangs should.

these 2 gangs are R*s take on the crip and bloods as its set in a fictional LA.R* have already done a take on the bloods and crips and theyre called the famallies and the ballas.why would R* portray the same gangs they have done in the past and name them something different???

I like the name Ballas for The Bloods but I think the name Grove Street should only be retained as one set of a larger gang maybe called The Families. If u look at the graffiti there are other names beside grove so this is a possibility.

Yea, but to be fair those are all generic blanket terms for the ethnicity of organized crime groups as opposed to the individual gangs or Families. There isn't one mention in the current Liberty City of The Forellis, The Leones or otherwise. The Triads are just a network of Chinese gangs you could just as well call "The Mafia" if they were Italian or Sicilian based.

There isn't one mention in the current Liberty City of The Forellis, The Leones or otherwise. The Triads are just a network of Chinese gangs you could just as well call "The Mafia" if they were Italian or Sicilian based.

The Leones and the Forellis are families witin the mafia.. Just because they werent mentioned in GTA IV doesnt mean they couldn't exist. There are more mafia families in New York than the 5 NYC families so who's to say that the Leones and Forrellis dont exist in some form off screen somewhere. All the gangs in GTA IV were given generic names apart from a couple so this leaves the door open for all of The Los Santos gangs to return. The only clash I can see is the Spanish Lords and the Los Santos Vagos since it is speculated that theyre both based on the Latin Kings but Rockstar could always base the Vagos on another gang this time around or just have them absolved into the Aztecas or vice versa.

A gang is an organization not a character. It would be 100% the same as any brand name existing in both universes.

 

If the gang name was a family name that might imply a character existing in both but that's not the case with Grove Street (or Orange Grove Families or whatever) and Ballas.

The Grape Street Crips (one set of a much larger gang) wear purple but I never heard of any Bloods wearing green. I thought it was the concensus that the Ballas were the Bloods and Grove Street were the Crips but I could be wrong. To be honest I don't know wether Rockstar even knows which gang is which.. they just made two warring gangs based on the Bs & Cs and left it to the fans to make up their minds.

One thing I am curious about whether Rockstar is going to address/represent or not is the fact that in the last two decades the latino based gangs in Cali and South Central, backed by South American cartels like Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) have pretty much risen to power well above the African american based gangs in present day or if they are going to continue portray the original Sets in San Andreas as the prominent shot callers for illegal activities in the Los Santos community.
