The Return of GSF & The Ballas in GTA V

Taking a series of screen shots in Franklin's new trailer today we were able to spot a huge amount of purple and green. The only question now is will Rockstar Games go with the original name of the two feuding gangs from GTA San Andreas or something completely new to continue their pattern of separating the old games from the new?

They should stick to their original names - and I believe they will, since there have been some "Ballas" and "Grove" graffitis spotted in the 2nd and 3rd trailers, respectively.

I think the names of the two gangs will be different, as I've stated in the past. If you look at the gangs in GTA IV versus the gangs in GTA III (or other games in the 3D era); any gang with the same name is a name based on the gangs ethnicity or nationality. For example; the Triads, Italian Mafia. However any gang with specific names, regardless of whether they were tied to another character's name or not, were omitted or changed from the III/3D era in the IV/HD era.

 

The reason why I say that is because "Grove Street Families" and "Ballas" aren't gang names that are tied to the respective gang's ethnicity or nationality. It doesn't mean though that the two gangs representing green and purple in GTA V won't have similar objectives or ideals to their III/3D counterparts as a sort of throwback to GTA: San Andreas.

I did see that on the wall quite a bit next to the GROVE graffiti ("Killah Hills"), seems like that might be what they call the new version of The Ballas then, right?

Clearly the Ballas and Families are back, and Grove Street will return in some form (anything from an easter-egg/graffiti to being an actual set), but I'd rather Franklin be a part of a different set of the Families; Hillside Families (Killer Hill Families) as someone suggested would be far better than just being in Grove Street Families again. People get confused, and think Grove Street Families is the gang, when it's only a particular set of the gang - Seville Boulevard Families and Temple Drive Families being the other two.

 

Nostalgia is great and all but it can quickly disappear if the thing you are nostalgic over is ushered back in. It's about reminiscence - you feel nostalgic about how things once were, not how they are now, which is why I think including Grove Street in any large capacity would actually destroy feelings about what it is and what it was. Someone above said why fix something that isn't broken. Well, sometimes you have to fix things to prevent them from breaking. Prevention is better than the cure; let sleeping dogs lie and so on. I think we need to move forward rather than backwards.

This is pretty much a cock tease by Rockstar. They know a lot of "fans" want San Andreas 2, and have these people jizz their pants at the site of this. I don't know if they are going to be called GSF or Ballas or a couple of new names. I rather go for the latter option.

Remember,There are different sets of families besides the grove street families. They will more than likely remain "families" but reside in a different set area and go under a different name. Although I do believe ballas will remain the same.

It may even be a step above that. You may even be able to find the "new" Grove Street and see the set as they live and breath (and spawn on the street just as they did in 1992). But I don't think Franklin should be heavily involved with them. As I explained earlier in this thread, we need to move on.

I think they will be Hillside/killer hill families just like Bloods and Crips you can wear the colours and have different set names.

 

I'm surprised we didn't see Mexican/Latino gangs Franklin and his homies are at war/allied with actually since they have a massive presence in L.A maybe that will be a surprise. Hopefully we see internal feuds involving different sets green against green and purple against purple etc.

What colours could they have changed to?

 

They can't go red or blue because they can't been seen to favour or promote one real life gang over another.

 

They wouldn't make our gang purple because that's a saints row thing

 

All we're really left with is yellow, green, or orange. And yellow and orange suck.
