He probably just picked up a car from his garage. I can't see the license plates being customizable because people would put what would be illegal plates IRL, on their car, which would be unrealistic. It wouldn't make sense for him to have his secret lover's name as his registration plate on his car. I'm sure his wife would be wondering who she was.
