Nobody said anything about what the North or the South preference for Black people were. And not everyone who hangs a confederate flag is racist, but you can't ignore that in 2013 it isn't used more to subtly say, 'No Blacks allowed' in hick parts of America.

Trevor is an American war veteran, somehow I don't think he'd be in support of the confederate army.

 

Bottom line, I don't think the flag necessarily means anything.

Racism has a clear meaning, discriminating against someone because of their colour. Many close-minded people are racist, usually because of the environment in which they were brought up. No one has a "racist gene," people are influenced in such a way that they become racist and are too close-minded to reflect on the reasons behind their opinion. If you hate/dislike someone because of their colour, then you are a racist. There is no discussion about it, it's a sad fact of life.

Some people own them to pay tribute and honor to their ancestors. Besides, the civil war wasn't just about slavery, in fact that was one of the more minor issues of the conflict.

It indeed is a trailer in Trevor's trailer, not another trailer. As for the trailer in the trailer, I think that it is some random trailer that Trevor is near. In the trailer, you see that Trevor lives in a community that has many trailers, so it is possible that the trailer is in his neighborhood. We do find out from the trailer that he lives in a trailer, so we hopefully will get more info on his trailer and other trailers in future trailers!

I just looked and there are confederate flags in Los Santos at the Ammunation in GTA SA, where they have target cutouts of CJ. So there already has been rebel flags throughout GTA like Liberty2k7 has pointed out in his Vice City picture.

Thanks amigo. I guess in a way, all the three protaginists are senseless killers one way or another. Don't know why I hate Franklin though, maybe because he seems like a Luis clone from the trailer, trying to get out of the hood and stuff. But let's leave that for another topic

 

On topic, I don't see what the fuss is about regarding the Confederate Battle Flag (the one depicted in the trailer) being used as a racist symbol. Sure, the CSA didn't have equal rights for many African Americans, I get that, but to blatantly accuse anyone who waves that flag as being a racist isn't cool. They could just be really proud of their southern heritage, like my Dad for example. He was a civil war buff and had a confereate battle flag hanging in his office. He collected civil war weapons, attended battle reenacments, etc.

 

The argument of associating the Confederate Battle Flag with racism makes just as much sense as accusing video games for being the reason as to why violent crimes are committed.

I don't think the Confederate Battle Flag represents, or is meant to resemble, Racism directly. And even if the flag designer made the flag with that purpose, they failed, hard, seeing as a blue "X" on a red background with stars on the "X" can be open to a lot of interpetation, depending on how open your mind is. I know that the issue of slavery itself was a minor reason of the Confederate states splitting from the Union, I remember that from History class. I can't remember the specific reason as to why. I think it had to do something with the Southern States feeling oppressed by the Northern States (hence why Confederate enthusiasts call the Civil War "The War of Northern Aggression"), but don't count me on that. I'll leave the reason as to why the Southern States split from the Union to the actual historians.
