johncs154
Being as the game is still in beta. This is normal there are technically 3 different cars in one file. This way it saves the systes resources 1st: when the car is close up, Takes the most memeory. HD Quality 2nd: when the car is quite a few feet away 25-100 maybe and the last, Lower Quality but still enough to make out the car 3rd: when the car is extremely far away. Lowest quality and barely recognizable, even if you saw it close up which wont ever happen. They all needed to be created separately so yes its possible that they have different wheels for now but will most likely be fixed when the game comes out. They already had the right models in the first trailer. The convertable from first trailer looks exactly like the one from todays trailer on the runway. Only that it wasnt a convertabke ut a hardtop version. Also many cars like the feltzer or the buffalo look fully customized. Like the bumber, backlights and so on. Yeah, while it's true that there's always different LOD models and that things are in the early stages with Rockstar going through many builds over the months - there's just no way, Rockstar have never been that sloppy with what goes into their trailers and they aren't about to start. That there being said, Rockstar having inconsistent cars in the same scenes simply due to different levels of customisation is just as sloppy. Yes Im pretty sure they are unfinished Just look at these two trucks.. They resemble the Ford F-250 Crew Cab. https://www.dropbox.com/s/xk7znu10fma23y4/U...d_FordClone.jpg Notice they have the same errors in the model, no lights front or rear and the hood is not closed on either. I Highly doubt that is a coincidence. Makes more sense for the models to be in an unfinished state. As far as the two different vans in the other thats a good catch! they look to be finished but the years of the vans production are a bit off. Just proving more that R* isn't perfect, and these trailers are a bit sloppy when it comes to the cars. Also the new Police cars and helicopters only have "POLICE" on them and not LSPD. TheQuestfor100Percent
The Ruiner is the only solid evidence from what I can see. I don't think that would just be a different model or whatever. Huge white rims with white letter tires? Seems like custom rims to me. Maybe there is just rim shops?
Anguished Cornhole
Problem is, if they showed the Sultan RS during a preview of GTA IV, everyone would be rushing to say "CAR CUSTOMIZATION IS CONFIRMED!" Unless we see the cars actually being modded, there's no way to make sure.
gta5freemode4eva
I'll wait for proof with regards to this topic. I really want car customisation (performance + visual) and I want to be able to hook trailers upto vehicles. Again, photo's of this won't do lol I want to hear it from 1 of the previews etc.
johncs154
As much as I want modding to be back as well the only slight proof is in the buffalo from Franklins' trailer there are clearly one fully modded one and the other looks the same as the model from TBOGT.. Now the red car is a different story it wouldn't make sense for it to have two different rims as the car is from the same cut scene. How where the rims changed that fast? They went to the shop to get only the rims swapped but didn't paint the car? @gta5freemode4eva https://www.dropbox.com/s/xk7znu10fma23y4/U...d_FordClone.jpg two of the same trucks and one has a generator attached. Ispintechno
The rims on the Camaro aka ruiner look all the same. Just minor rendering glitches. And remember different rims could come with the same car without car customization but I certainly hope we do get car customization. It would be tragic if they leave that out again. Hugef1
I agree with Anguished Cornhole (lol...). In IV you had the same models of cars with different styling. The little Ford Cossie copy thing that the Russian gang used (think it was a Futo) had a spoiler on the back, the usual version didn't, and there were quite a few things like that (Infernus was another I seem to remember). In the massive PC trainer, you could change all these different things, so it became a basic form of customisation. I really don't think it's in. I'd like to be wrong, cos that was quite cool in SA, but I doubt it.

Red XIII
I think I have found out something about wheels too...there round lol jk In Trevor's trailer when he shoots the truck with the shotgun, he actually shoots the wheel and that causes the car to buckle and roll over. Input
Something I just noticed.. Off topic, but look at the cars in the background, they have different headlight colors two have yellow like most old cars while the others have bright white LED lights. And on top of that, the tail lights are different too, the Picador has bright orange lights like any older car would have while the Ruiner has more solid red ones. That's just awesome, it's the little things.

Spex84
I am...stoked. It's almost too much to hope for customization now, but I'm still holding out. Some thoughts: The Ruiner's apparent wheel change is really interesting. I'm pretty sure it's not a LOD thing--that distance wouldn't cause the LOD to swap in, and in any case, the first LOD in GTA IV's cars closely resembles the high-detail version. Considering the large size of the world (I hope) and number of new vehicles (tractors, planes, etc) I find it unlikely that there would be complete duplicates of vehicles just for the sake of having new wheels. This would use up a lot of disc space; it would make more sense to have wheels that load in separately. Now this doesn't necessarily point to car customization--it might just be that each type of car loads with one of several styles of wheel model appropriate to that vehicle. But once a feature like that is programmed in...why not make it accessible to the player, so the player can buy and change wheels? So I still have hope... Until I see 3 or more different cars with the same wheel type, or a single car type with more than 3 different types of wheel on it, it's hard to rule out the possibility that there might simply be 2 versions of certain cars. Ruiner and Gang Ruiner, for instance. Or Infernus and Tuned Infernus, etc.
