Why the f*ck would they tell us there are flyable planes, and then show us a plane we can't fly in one of the trailers?

 

You don't think you're just gonna pop open the emergency exit and commandeer it though do you? It will probably be tricky to steal a 747. Perhaps you have to board it like an actual passenger.

Can cars even get blown away by planes in real life? I've seen people in St. Maarten beach get blown away by planes taking off in the nearby airport.

If Rockstar incorporated the jet blast of the engines on Peds and cars into the physics engine I would really be impressed. That would mean that each ped/car/object would have to be assigned a drag coefficient. In addition, the drag coefficient changes depending on the orientation/direction of the cars relative to the planes engines. A car that is facing the same direction as the plane would have a lower drag coefficient from jet blast than if it were perpendicular to it.

Nah, I ain't too mad. Just seems like a bit of a cocktease if they're gonna be like "You can drive every vehicle and fly every plane EXCEPT this one." I mean what gives? If you're going to go the extra mile, go the extra mile R*.

 

My other point was more that you're not just going to be able to jump up to the entry door and open it anyway. I know you can't really get back into the AT400 once you land it, for instance. It'd probably be a bit of a hassle to steal it, and would probably have a unique spawn point.

 

On topic: I plan to ride a BMX on a one way trip through the jet engine.

Yes, it more than likely is a cutscenes, BUT.......in th background there are 2 similar jumbo jets and 1 smaller twin jet in the green, so I'd assume we can enter them outside of the cut screen. I guess only time will tell......but if this game is really as great as it seems to be, flying larger planes will either be possible, otherwise a step back from SA.

somehow i dont think it was all a rendered cut scene. i think that it was actual gameplay footage. hence in the mission the player has to be careful to avoid being hit by the flying cars and the jet stream. dont let me down R*.

Most likely just added detail. You may be able to fly it but if you watch the trailer you'll see the windows and doors are just a texture (unless they haven't got around to replacing it yet)

I think this plane is the AI one, thats why u can see only textures.But if we'll be able to fly one, it will most probably be in a hanger with stairs and better textures!

Or it could be just a constant force applied against CoM if the vehicle is within a certain cone. The physics models in games are typically simplified, and the one in IV was almost bare minimum.

 

 

My other thought is how this might work in MP. I can think of several applications for harassing other players, legitimately or otherwise.

As it was able to fly the passengerplane in SA it SHOULD be allowed in V. and yes when you look at the wings you see the stearing plates. so that looks promesing. but looking at the windows they seems totally grey. (not seen through)

 

But something i REALLY hope is to be able to fly all sorts of airplanes ONLINE aswell!!!

example putting youre friends in the plane and take off, do nice landings, mayday, crash and so on.

As someone said earlier; every aeroplane on Planet Earth has those 'cuts' in order for the aircraft to even move. I wouldn't be surprised if the plane was non-pilotable despite having slightly detailed ailerons and elevators.
