Hip Hop
Hey guys, I have a PS3 fat, 60gb, backwards compatible. I was just wondering if there will be lesser performance than say a PS3 Slim, due to technology advancing over the years? There'll be times when Metal Gear Solid 4 is running at an obvious 20-30fps as opposed to 60. How I hope GTA V runs well on it. Thanks in advance. iNero
actually no. some people seem like they dont care about it like in Far Cry. I hate the framerate in it like many others. some others say its fine...
trevors685
If so, it's probably due to the age of the console. They haven't added any new hardware. Well, except for the newer Xboxs being able to pick up wifi.

My guess is there's no any difference in perfomance between older ones and newer ones. AFAIK slims as well as superslims jus have some power consuming changes. PetsOvernight
The only different might be dust in the console or degraded and finished thermal paste which will overheat the console a lot easier and cause more frame issues (as well as leading to eventual console death). Few months ago my 80 gig model (backwards compatible) started shutting off randomly with the red blinking light, and I said it was because of the aged and poor quality thermal paste making the heatsinks essentially useless. I opened it up, re-pasted the chips, and have had no problems since. I recommend everyone doing this with a PS3 that's a few years old... the fat models. The paste they use is poor quality to begin with and doesn't last long. YouTube has quite a few tutorials on how to do this!
