In movies you see gangbangers representing LA with sports gear all the time, including the Kings. Especially with the black & silver of the Kings and the old L.A. Raiders. Combine that with the Kings going on a great run to win the Cup, during development of the game, and the rest is history. I think you're looking too deep into it. But Rockstar would be amazing if they put in the two La area teams i like Go Lakers and Ducks. A bit sad that they were swept by San Antonio.
