oRNoKrazK1ipz
yeah don't forget you guys in the first official trailer there was a "Ballas" graffiti on a bench. And in the trailer all you can see is "Grove" so it's PROBABLY just a reference, like a little easter egg or something because we all know rockstar north loves to do that sh*t. But I wouldn't be surprised at all if they modeled CJ and his hood friends to be like the Grove St gang from SA, just taking place in 2013 instead of the early 1990s. That wasnt Ballas that was Gawns.
YukiEiri
No!! I got it!! This is the gtaFORUMS universe!! So the green guys CAN'T be the Grove Street Families, they were in the 3D universe. The greenies are .... LUCHADORES!! And the purple, not Ballas, come on!! They were in the 3D universe. They are THE SAINTS!!!!! How the F could we have been so blind and stupid?!?!? o_O; Ballas and Families.. C'mon people..
StepY0gameUP
Please read and understand something about gangs and how they work. Grove street was a gang that was started by CJ and his family in the 90s. Now take bloods and crips, and heavily known in L.A as gangs. To this day present day those same gangs that start in the late 90s are here today with different leaders and are actually larger in numbers today. But not as violent and out there like they once was. Bloods and crips today don't wear all red and all blue like back then today they bring out there colors through bandanas chains tattoos beads wore on wrist. What we see now in these trailers with Franklin and his gang can very well be Grove St but today's version. New leaders and new attire. Those of you who think that the LS represents there gangs come on let's be serious how many gangs today you know where bloods written across there shirts and on their hats. It's a clothing line just like the ny hate that reps Yankees. Grove St is back and so are the Ballas. As far as cj I doubt that b.C rock star stated there will be no characters from the past. But like there is a burger shot still there can still be the same gangs. This is Imo. Also gangs today don't show out as much b c police office will become very suspicious of a group wearing all green red blue or purple head to toe there in more secrecy today or atleast try to be Edited April 30, 2013 by StepY0gameUP

CSM. HB J-DOGG
You cant pay some of these guys in the forums to seriously. Some of the same people said Franklin wouldnt be involved with the gang due to what he told Lamar in the 2nd trailer totally taking it out of context as I said they did in the trailer 2 analysis. CJPNE
Dan Houser did describe him as- "Franklin was the idea of this street hustler in the modern world where the glory days – if there ever were glory days of gang banging – had long since passed," Maybe the 'glory days' are a reference to Grove Streets Families rise to the top. That's just an uneducated guess though, and I'm pretty sure they won't mention them by name.

CSM. HB J-DOGG
Franklin claims he's about paper and not gang banging but the only people I see him shooting are guys dressed in purple. That does not mean that he is going to simply allow his child hood friends go by the way side and not get involved in certain activities. It means he is not comfortable being on the corner as a street hustler only he wants to expand his ways of making money. Notice his progression and even clothing in the trailer. He goes from a wife beater shirt to a suit like micheal in the trailer . Which is a better depiction of what alot of street hustlers do when they start making money. Also alot of people saying Chop may be Lamars dog as if they both cant have Rottys lmao. For all we know Chop and lamars dog could have came from the same litter. Grand Theft Savage
It's obvious, actually. People are trying their hardest to deny that Grove Street and The Ballas war has continued on into a new generation. It's sad, 'cause the sh*t is right in our faces. I don't see why people make up so many excuses.
Saturnis
Grove street is on the wall as graffiti just like SA is on the wall as graffiti, but this isn't San Andreas. it simply an easter egg. The new gangs seem to be LS and SA, a tribute to the playstation game, but also two gangs that mimic the grove street and ballas, but WILL NOT BE CALLED GROVE STREET FAM OR BALLAS. shifty66
100% agree with that above me. Things like street names etc are always gonna be the same, otherwise it wouldn't be called Los Santos. I think you guys have completely misunderstood the idea of "New era". New era does not mean "new world" in any capacity, if it was a new world they wouldn't call it San Andreas, brands like Clucking Bell and Ammunation wouldn't return, cars from previous GTA's wouldn't return. Your idea that brands/titles cant return in new GTA's because they are in a new era's goes against everything that Rockstar has been doing since day one. For aesthetic purposes I doubt Rockstar will be pushing "grove street" in our faces every 10 seconds as San Andreas only just came out a few years ago and they want to highlight the fact that it is a new game. But to completely throw away such a developed gang in a fictional city they've returned to is completely nonsensical and Rockstar has acknowledged this, considering that every character wearing green in trailers with Franklin have been friendly and every character wearing purple is usually been shot at/chased after/attacked by characters wearing green. Now, if you're suggesting that the new gang wont explicitly be called "grove street" I can agree that that is a possibility. Maybe it is grove street, but they've changed their name over the years. But to say with absolute certainty that this new gang Franklin is affiliated with that just happens to always be wearing green will have zero correlation with grove street is conjecture. Conjecture with evidence largely going against it I may add.
Eutyphro
As much as i would like it to be Grove Street, i know it isn't. This isn't the same universe. Dude, you don't know sh*t. It's a green gang vs a purple gang. It's so obvious for them to be Grove and Ballas. I can't be sure, since it's not official. But I think it's like a 90 percent chance at least that grove street and ballas are in the game. And if the grove street gang is in the game, wouldn't they have to put the street in it too for it to make sense? I think so. walkingsickness
Being a person who knows ALOT about gang culture (seeing that I from the 80s area growing up in the Bronx, when pistol pete and the rest of the SMM was running wild in the early 90s) it just crazy how many people will associate one particular color with ONE exact set. That being said...I think the families and ballas will be back in the game as a Representative of the bloods/crips, but that doesn't mean grove will be back. However, it doesn't mean they wouldn't either.
cholesterol
screenshot Definitely says "grove st." but it looks more like an easter egg than anything else. Though in Franklin's trailer a gang like grove st., wearing green, and is for all intents and purposes confirmed, but it will most likely be named something else. imo

The Hate
I've already posted this in the other thread but I feel that it is my duty to enlighten those who have lost touch with reality. You grove street/ballas believers are deluded. There is absolutely no chance that those gangs will return in GTA V. I have indisputable, irrefutable proof. That is, that GTA V follows the "universe" law and will not feature characters (or groups of characters) from past "universes". The return of grove street/ballas would violate this absolutely unquestionable law. Therefore, your theories are baseless and lack merit. It appears that your excitement of the GTASA gangs has clouded your way of thinking Finally, To all those who are standing against me I say COME AT ME BRO And yes this is satire. Canes21
It would be cool if it was Grove Street, or the Families, and the Ballas returning, but I think everyone on both sides is too quick to judge. This could easily be a bunch of easter eggs. I mean GTA IV took lace in Liberty City just like GTA III did and it had graffiti of Diablo, Tommy Vercetti, Misty, Salvatore Leone(iirc), etc. and not a single one of them returned or any group they were affiliated with. The whole green and purple scheme could easily be an easter egg in itself for all the San Andreas fans. Knowing how loved the game was, Rockstar could easily make the two main gangs in the game the same two colors just for kicks, they do it all the time in their games. I think you all really need to just calm down on the whole situation. Going by the logic of some of you, Bigfoot was seen on a police cruiser in the 1st trailer so obviously he is in the game. tinman187
Not only was there a lot of green, but most of the people getting shot were in purple. If Rockstar wanted us to think they weren't in the game, surely they would've had them in orange or pink or any other colour. Like the O.P said, there's just too much green/purple for it not to be. I mean it's just too damn obvious for it to be a coincidence.
Prestb97
Franklin's trailer - 00:32 (Bottom left) the graffiti says Grove Street YES IT DOES! For all the talk about it NOT being in the game, it is CLEARLY written on that wall! This is the first indisputable evidence that there IS a Grove Street. I'm sure people are going to start regurgitating the same old "different universe" crap, but that wouldn't explain why "Grove st." would appear on this trailer. There are countless things you could use for a street name, and yet it exists on this wall. ...or maybe it's just a little easter egg.
BigKush
I like how noone is trying to claim it isn't Los Santos or that Los Santos isn't in San Andreas because "IT'S A DIFFERENT UNIVERSE", in the same way that they vehemently deny the fact that any representation of Los Santos gangs could possibly have the same names and colours as they always have.. CJ isn't coming back. Tommy Vercetti isn't coming back. We all get that, it's not hard to grasp. Neither is the fact that gang members suited up in green in South Central Los Santos are probably going to be Families still. Just like the Mafia has always been the Mafia, regardless of which UNIVERSE you're in. Definitely some wanton hate of perceived hip-hop culture going on here, borderline racism. It's been going on since people "Loved San Andreas but hated all that stupid gang bullsh*t". Right.. Edited May 1, 2013 by BigKush
