They're both gangbangers, they're both in a Family, they both don't want to do what they do, and they probably both complain a lot. Even though race is a petty thing to point out, they're both black too There's more similar traits between those two than Tommy and Trevor, or Tommy and Micheal. It's not a bad thing considering CJ is one of the all time favorites, I would certainly like to play as a similar character in this generation of GTA. Degrees Posted May 1, 2013 Share Posted May 1, 2013 I'm shocked that the CJ knockoff is winning over the clearly more interesting characters. Franklin is clearly NOT a CJ knockoff. He appears to have much more depth. Anyway, I think the reason Franklin's popularity has soared is because his trailer is the first and only trailer out of the 5 to feature a gangbanger/hip-hop theme, and you've got to remember this forum's member majority are kids. Now I'm not saying only kids listen to hip hop before you all start jumping down my throat, but I think the younger generation will have watched said themed trailer and found it more relatable than the family man with a temper, 80's soundtracked trailer of Michael, or Trevors country themed one. It also appeal to the SA fans who liked the gang vibe its been almost 10 years those fans are older now me being one. San Andreas will always hold a special place in my heart, especially considering prior to V, it was the only GTA I had followed the marketing all the way through. Even though it was nowhere as drawn out as this campaign, the summer of '04 felt weirdly just as long. I didn't really follow the marketing for III and VC, they just sort of popped out of nowhere. As for IV, '08 was a crazy year for me to get wrapped up in the promoting for it. So yeah, I will never forget the excitement for SA, and the awesomeness that ensued when finally playing it. That being said, that was nearly 10 years ago. I'm still looking forward to the hood aspect of modern day Los Santos, believe me. I can't wait to see the more realistic approach this time. But Michaels and Trevors stories feel a lot fresher and interest me more. I completely agree about both Trevor and Michael, Michael being my favourite. Surprised Franklin trailer gained him more fans his trailer never showed much of his personality. Once again Lamar personality overshadowed his imo. Now ? meh, i dont feel nothing for the 3 protags, less interesting in them.. Maybe i liked them better when i start to play them (daa ) And Franklin familias member ???? At the beginning of GTA V he's working for Armenian gangsters jacking expensive cars, so he's already more than just a member of another street gang. Anyways, Michael is my favourite after seeing these trailers. The exchange between him and his therapist and him going nuts (smashing the golf club, breaking his TV) were pretty funny. That means R* has created a game for every type of player. Some people just want to see their choice on top, and sadly other's would just like to see Franklin on the bottom. Supacoupe Posted May 5, 2013 Share Posted May 5, 2013 I'm super late. Been away from this site for about 5 months. Got to see the new trailers and screenshots for the 1st time. WOW!!! Franklin is still my favorite with the Grove Street green him and his buddies wear, but Trevor is a close second. At the end of the trailer I was ROFL. "You want me to get my dick out again?" HAHAHA classic. I'll probably go dark again until close to release date. Anything on the horizon being released as far as information that anyone knows?
