donnot
Hi everyone. I'm new to GTA and only recently installed gta IV. I ran it and have noticed that it has only been running at a maximum of about 20fps with all the settings low/off and draw distance <10 as well as the resolution at 800x600. It's a new ultrabook with an i3 3217u cpu and hd4000 graphics as well as 8gb ram and from what I have seen it should be capable (an i3 330m with hd3000 was performing a lot better). I've tried everything (set the bios to allow 512mb to graphics, set the computer to high performance) with no luck. Does anybody know what else I could try Cheers
SlaveZer0
again we need a sticky topic for laptops.... sorry to say you have intel sh*t graphics and there is nothing you can do about it.... the only solution is to build a capable desktop. otherwise consider yourself most lucky that you even get more than ten frames per second. happy gaming

donnot
Well my friends laptop that is over 3 years old with an i3 and hd3000 is able to play it a lot smoother and I am able to max out portal 2 with over 40fps average so I find this quite unusual. EDIT: It's a 2010 repack (around 12gb) Edited April 30, 2013 by donnot
luceberg
The i3-3217U cpu is 1.8Ghz and the i3-330M is 2.13Ghz, which is enough to make a difference in fps, since the game is very cpu intensive. A lot of other games put more of the processing to the graphics card, hence will do better than gta4 with a slow cpu. You could give VisualIV a try. unc13bud
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-HD-Grap...%3Frecache=true Beware, that the HD Graphics 4000 is used with different clock speeds depending on the CPU model. The ULV CPUs (Core ix-3xx7M) for example feature lower clock speeds and cant maintain the Turbo frequency as good as the 35 - 55 Watt models. Therefore, the ULV version is about 30% slower on average. try this memrestrict command though -memrestrict 314572800 i think this is the one that worked for my llano system (x8 3870k)
