RomansMoobs
So, after reading the zombie thread and seeing people wanting something different, and the best idea they could come up with is "robot dinosaurs"... *shivers* it gave me an idea. In light of recent events (the boston marathon bombing, school shootings, etc) the game could have a DLC government invasion mode, where the army/NOOSE come in and try to put the city into martial law. The government could be killing innocent civilians, and making it harder for organized crime to exist. Thus making Micheal, Trevor, and Franklin freedom fighters, the ultimate good "bad" guys. It could even have some enemies join your side against the invading national guard. Think about it, Rockstar could put a good story behind it, they could add more weapons, giant firefights in the middle of the city, total anarchy (a la San Andreas during the Riot), new cars even.. the possibilities are pretty endless. What would you guys think? Have any ideas to add to this?

gta5freemode4eva
You idea when in full swing doesn't really sound like it would differ from a GTA 5-6 star run apart from the fact you may have team-mates. RomansMoobs
You idea when in full swing doesn't really sound like it would differ from a GTA 5-6 star run apart from the fact you may have team-mates. Well that's where you take your imagination and let it wander. Instead of it just being like 5-6 star chase you can set up traps for the troops to fall into. It could take a lot of influence from the movie "Red Dawn". Rockstar likes to use movie references, so this would fit well with that trend. It could start off slow at a first, just being a few mumbles from people, then as you progress it can get worse and worse, with more and more people coming in over the coarse of 30 or so missions, and eventually leading to the government giving up and San Andreas being "liberated". When it comes down to it, what's the biggest opposition to organized crime? The government. And when martial law is in effect, the troops are running the city. eclaireN7
This is where that parkour idea someone had could really come into play in some form. This would be much more interesting than zombies or robot dinos.

This would be much more interesting than zombies or robot dinos. and more realistic. You could plant bombs on bridges, and blow up bridges as they were crossing them... GrandMaster Smith
I've been convinced they're going to do something alone these lines with how they mentioned conspiracies would play a role in the story. It'd be a cool thing to see and would mirror the riots from San Andreas.. would definitely add some interesting gameplay
acmilano
Probably nothing like that, not even Rockstar would dare to put allusions on Boston Bombing right now.

I'm not saying they'd allude to the Boston Bombing at all, how did you even get that from what I said? I said because of the bombing martial law was declared in Boston. If martial law were declared in San Andreas, that'd make one hell of a DLC.
cody7799
*koffkoff* STAG. The idea is interesting; provided its an occupation of understandable cause. National Guard troops deploy in emergencies and in events of terror, they deal with martial law deployments. The US Army/Marines cannot deploy in its own borders on the right of the constitution. Now; throw that put the window, and create some 'event' requiring them, and it'd be interesting, if they did it right. If martial law was declared, it wouldn't mean the player automatically gets targeted. I mean, just because you've got troops everywhere doesn't mean they're gonna shoot on sight. Someone said it'd be like having 5-6 wanted stars; who's to say you're wanted in the first place?
highnrich
hell yeah econimic collapse & NWO -> martial law would be a great DLC but that'd wake up the masses so i dont think R* is allowed to do that

Also explaining why you could be shot on sight, or maybe they would just be very curious about you and you could only be in their sight lines for a small amount of time. And if they implemented parkour (not full on, but a little bit of it), it'd be amazing.
