[Grand Theft Savage]

From what I understand, the four most anticipated games of 2013 are Grand Theft Auto V, Watch Dogs, Battlefield 4, and The Last of Us. but I want to know, which one of the other three games do you believe will be GTA's biggest competition? Consider all things, such as the quality of gameplay and the amount of hype the game has. Tell me in order which game will come close to selling as much as GTA V.

I was surprised to find out that Watch_Dogs is not only released just 2 months after GTA V, but they have already announced a Next Gen vesion of the game, which would surly hurt sales?

 

I think this is a first so it would be interesting to see if early next gen adopters wait it out for the Next Gen version of Watch_dogs. Even if the Next XBox and PS4 are released before Nov 19TH limited stock (I still carry the scars of hitting every store in and around Hollywood for that 360 console on release!) may mean playing the waiting game.

 

Personally i'd wait for the Next Gen version of Watch_Dogs, but I don't plan on getting a Next Gen console till sometime later in 2014. Untill then GTA V will be enough to keep me occupied!

Watch Dogs looks good but it's a New I.P so it's risky.

Whereas Naughty Dog is building The Last Of Us ontop of Uncharted's rep so it's strong competition even though it's a new i.p too.

Battlefield 4 is probably the weakest.

If I had to choose, I'd say Watch Dogs. Everyone on here likes to bring WD up anyway so yeah.

Probably Watch Dogs but Assasins Creed IV Black Flag, Saints Row 3 and the annual copy and paste fest of COD will all be bigger competition than The Last Of Us and Battlefield 4. That being said I think GTA V has the potential to outsell them all.

Ubisoft is building Watch_Dogs off of Assassin's Creed and the Driver games. I think it carries more salt on all it's consoles than The Last of Us on PS3. Console exclusives basically kill the ability to choose which can drag sales. Not saying Uncharted hasn't sold well, but console exclusives restrict a lot, especially now with the coming next gen, and a possible resurgence of computer gaming due to the fact that the next gen consoles will be a lot easier to port to. Also; to the person above saying Saints Row 3, it's 4 that's coming out.

It's going to be BF4 no doubt. The game's fanbase is growing to the size of CoD's. It will soon be BF vs. CoD on yearly releases until hopefully they both fall apart and we don't need to worry about oversaturation of the industry with a new FPS game every hour.

Besides that though, GTA does have competition whether you like it or not.

Say a kid has 100 bucks, that's the only 100 bucks he is going to have for quite some time he's been saving for ages, Call Of Duty has just come out, and GTA V is just around the corner, but this kid has played COD for years and all his friends want him online. Which does he buy?

 

If he buys Call Of Duty, then GTA V has just been out-competed by another game, because this kid can't afford to get both. There is competition dude.

 

Anyway, I think Battlefield 3, watch dogs is a new IP so it's probably not going to sell gigantically, whereas Battlefield has sold well with almost every instalment.

I think it'll be between Dogs and The last of us.... Battlefield isn't really bringing anything new to the table.

 

They both look amazing games but I think if one had to top it, it would be Watch Dogs. Simply because it's on both of the consoles and will have more buyers.

People like that are a minority to game sales, though

 

GTA V has much more hype than Call of Duty. Let's say that the next CoD releases in November. GTA V is coming 9-17-2013. So, of course, the kid can get both if he really wanted to. I know that what your were saying is an example but GTA V is coming out before the next Call of Duty, so that won't be happening. People that don't have enough money for both and end up choosing CoD, as I said, is a small group.
