ok , this is simple question can GTA get rid of its violent aspect . personnally i enjoyed a lot chases with the police in GTA III and trying to escape to them . but time after time i slowly got bored . and if i liked this a lot in earlier episodes , now i'm getting quite bored of that gangsta/criminal side not to say seriously bored . i've been amazed (and keep being it) of GTA IV realism . i can spend hundreds of hours in the city , doing nothing , just walking/driving around . and personnally i think a great real life simulation can be done with that game . i was thinking of a kinda Shenmu like game , beautiful an very detailled . you could do anything (or almost anything) you can do IRL biggrin.gif (and of course if you commit criminal acts you could be in trouble with the police like IRL ..) . what do you think

A game entitled "Grand Theft Auto" without violence? No, thank you.

Could any game go without violence?

No enemies, no way to get yourself hurt, no more crashing the tail of your snake into the body of your snake.

If you look hard enough each game is violent in some form.

GTA without violence/crime is just "Grand Auto".

You'd have to neuter the Houser brothers before they would even consider something so idiotic.

Mmm, play a game that requires me to have a serious word with an enemy, or play a game that requires me to beat the enemy over the head with a bat until i feel like stopping. Its a genuine dilemma as to what i should pick...

How about GTA-Light in which you ask nicely and then return the cars you borrow with a full tank of gas? You could go out and get an honest job and pay rent too!

Yeah but don't forget the weeks of in game lessons you have to do before your legally allowed on the roads. Cant go driving without a license or insurance.

Grand Theft Auto has been violent since the very beginning. You can't be serious right? No offense.

Well basically this topic brought out the game designer in me, and i have come up with a ground breaking game:

Grand Old Age.

This title follows the life and times of Ted Cooper. Who is a friendly, law abiding citizen who pays his taxes and has never had a single run in with the police, never had a fight or damaged anybody Else's property, he is just the harmless warm center of the world. He spends his free time:

Mowing his lawn.

Playing bingo.

Seeing his grandchildren.

And baking cakes.

He has a wife called Ethel, who he has been married too for 62 years without a single hiccup.

The player role in all this, is to guide Ted threw his happy, law abiding day.

(Bingo and Mowing the lawn will be mini games)

Mind blowing, this game will change you - IGN

10/10 Never played anything like it - OXM

And now, a sneak preview of the cover art:

I don't mind saying that I would play the sh*t outta that. Maybe your memory could degrade over time in the save folder. Electric scooter jousting mini game? Hell ya.

Sounds like a good idea i will officially include that, the game is still in delevopment so im open to all ideas.

As long as they are all legal and law abiding.

People need to realise that Grand Theft Auto: IV was in no way realistic.

Yeah it was authentic giving us the feeling of being in New York/Liberty City but it never forced us to get a job or pay taxes or anything like that. The reason for this is simple, Rockstar give us a fun believable playground to play in because the more interactive and authentic the gameworld the more enjoyable our experience.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is a prime example of why this works so damn well. I'd spend ages just driving around Vice City because it just felt awesome, would I want to have to get a job and start having to pay taxes and/or raise a family in a small area of the city? Of course not. Grand Theft Auto is a release, almost like a drug and it allows a lot of us to let loose in a way that real life simply can't allow us to.

This brings me back to my main point, addressing the issue of people unthinkingly branding Grand Theft Auto: IV as realistic. A realistic game wouldn't allow you have battles with dozens of S.W.A.T or N.O.O.S.E teams on top of the Rotterdamn Tower/Empire State Building now would it? No of course it wouldn't. Grand Theft Auto's never meant to have been a life simulator, rather it's meant to maintain the illusion of a living breathing city until you decide to let loose with a rocket launcher and decimate half of the city's police force.

So in short no. Not because I don't see the idea for such a game existing as bad (I actually think that it might sell quite well, I mean look at the amount of sales for games like Surgeon Simulator or Euro Truck Simulator) but rather because Grand Theft Auto and by extentsion Rockstar aren't looking to be or make that kind of game.

Mister Pink

Lightening said it. ^

You have to evaluate and look at why we watch films, TV and play games. Those 3 things give us an opportunity to experience life or a virtual life through different eyes. TV and film is more passive, compared to gaming which is pro-active from the gamers point of view. With gaming or the idea of a game is to be met with some challenges, objectives and to try beat them and reach a goal with mixed results.

GTA's are based or inspired by films. The content of films that inspire are normally crime based.
