VegaLA Posted April 29, 2013 Share Posted April 29, 2013 Looking forwards to the new info and trailers this week (tomorrow can't come soon enough) and everyone has done a great job pulling these trailers and screenshots apart looking for clues to help create a possible map, but the one aspect I am interested in is that LA landmarks that have not been featured. I found this article that got me thinking: http://gtasanandreas5.com/?p=166 and does raise the question as to how much Rockstar have been hiding from us. We've seen glimpses of the LAX airport but not really anything detailed, but such a reveal would then lead us to speculate on the old 'Other City' route of discussion. Union Station would also lead us down this path but we have yet to see that. Other LA landmarks include the Bradbury building and the La Brea tarpits. Can anyone else think of any obvious places Rockstar would include to get that LA vibe aside from the ones mentioned in that article? Hoping new areas get revealed tomorrow! Quite interesting to see how the dynamic AI or whatever they're calling it (where each ped has an observable 24hr cycle) will be used here. We've seen drug dealers in San Andreas, but i'm hoping for the two to come together and be able to see turf feuds or so on as an outsider for once, rather than in SA when it was you they were attacking. Any of the museums, although we see a glimpse of what I think may be the Getty, on the hillside. But I guess Griffith Observatory qualifies as a museum. It would be cool to have the zoo in there. A few years back there was some controversy about the poor conditions at the LA zoo, maybe they could parody that if they don't care about raising the ire of PETA. Everybody's talking about South Central, but we also haven't seen much of East LA and its Hispanic culture. Maybe off topic but a couple landmarks out in "Blaine County" that would be cool to see: the fake dinosaurs at Cabazon, World's Tallest Thermometer at Baker, Palm Springs Aerial Tram, Imperial Sand Dunes (Glamis). As far as we know, there is only one stadium in Los Santos and it looks to be a mixture of the Forum and the LA Memorial Coliseum. That's the one you're looking at. It's a gorgeous building inside and out showing of it's beautiful art deco architectural style. If they did add it, which I'm doubtful of them doing so, I would be delighted. Perhaps they could've done its lobby area too. And then we got UCLA and some nice buildings surrounding the campus. I'm sure many are doubtful of UCLA's appearance, but the observatory shot obviously is not revealing much of northwestern Los Santos. I mean if it is, then tell me where the Richman Hotel is or where that huge filming industry building - which I'm sure will be included - is on the observatory shot. 73duster Posted April 29, 2013 Share Posted April 29, 2013 Excellent thread started by the OP. It really helps counter the unsubstantiated claims by many on here that Los Santos is "small". I've said myself, that we HAVEN'T been shown everything, and the fact that there are MANY landmark places in LA which haven't been shown yet, should mean that there is a lot that's been left out so far. Of course, that doesn't mean that EVERY landmark building that exists in LA will be in the game, but CERTAINLY places like LAX airport, and the train station SHOULD be in the game. We haven't had a decent mall since VC - we need a return to one. Fingers crossed. @73Duster - exactly. We've barely seen South Central (barely as in, in the corner of some shot) and its a massive part of LA. Hopefully we'll see more tomorrow! I know of Pinky's on La Brea Blvd on the way up to the Best Buy on the corner of La Brea an Santa monica Blvd. Never had one though as the queue is always too long! The Bulloch's Dept. store is not too far from where I lived in the Langham building off Wilshire on Normandie. Some of those convereted Hotels made apartments would make a welcome addition too. As for Malls someone mentioned the Beverly Center may be seen in that image where Michael is about to force his way through the FiB building window, but no confirmation on that yet.
