To be honest I think ammo is really underrated in the series, as well as the weapons. They have such little value! You get full 1 full clip from any weapon you pick up, when I think ammo should be calculated realistically. For example, the enemy's gun had 1 clip left with 15 bullets, then that's the ammo you recieve for picking up that gun from the ground. And if your clip has say 3 bullets left, and you reload, you lose those bullets. I think people would spray less and actually use weapons like in real life. It would make gameplay harder and missions last longer, sinse you will focus more on hitting your target rather than hope that he's in the area of where the bullets spread to.

The only game that had this type of weapon system that I could remember is Mafia 1. Although I'm sure there are a few WW2 games that have the same thing. Why not have GTA join the group?

It's GTA, nobody wants to be worrying about their ammo all the time. It wouldn't fit the game. I agree though that the missions are way to easy. Atleast the shootouts are.

I hope they change it up. Gun mechanism/animations/sounds could be more realistic. I think it should be as detailed as a FPS game. Off topic: Rockstar can take the best things from other genres to improve GTA. Make the weapons as good as a FPS game and make the cars/planes operate just like do in simulation games.

I really hope they change the weapon selection to a weapon wheel. After playing Redemption I can't go back to the classic GTA selection method.

Lock n' Stock

I'm hoping they just keep the system from previous games and not have a Max Payne 3-style system where you can only carry a few weapons at a time.

I think they're going to have to change it. I mean will each protag have exactly the same weapons when you switch, or would you have one with a rocket launcher, another with a grenade launcher and the third with something else? It's going to be interesting to find out.

I also agree about the weapon wheel.

oh wow bored.gif its not a tactic shooter, its GTA, dude

It's still a crime game. I think you'd realise how valuble ammo is if you're a criminal in a real life shootout.

Confirmed in an interview that yes, each protagonist will have their own separate inventories and money.

OT: I like RDR's weapon wheel a lot. I like Max Payne 3's weapon wheel as well, but it fit more as it was a linear shooter. RDR's would be best because you could still hold as much as you could in IV. But having different categories such as handguns, shotguns and rifles, etc... It would feel more smooth and modern to cycle through them in that sense.

I just hope they don't choose the weapon wheel from Red Dead, while there isn't anything wrong with it from a functionality perspective, it is slow and a bit awkward to use.

BUT THE BENZ

If R*would at least combine the realitsic weapon system MP3 had, with the totally unrealistic weapon system that GTA has, I'd be content. If they were to completely use the MP3 weapon system I'd be really happy!

RPGs, 5 pistols, 4 rifles and what not magically appearing from under your coat is so 90's....

Word. If he knew the "game" he'd keep extra clips for extra sh*t!

I know what your going on about OP but I don't think it would suit the 'normal' GTA. A hardcore mode however... that'd be cool. People would have to watch their ammo and it would re-invent the game as a much more tactile version. I wouldn't mind it but only as an option.

If the ammo is so valuable why do you want the protags to throw their mags which still have bullets in it away when they could keep them?

I'm all in for a more limited inventory (something similar to Red Dead Redemption, but maybe less limited than that) and the ability to use trunks, call friends or other protagonists to get some more weapons & ammo. It just adds a lot of atmosphere and adrenaline to the game. I would also limit how much ammo each character can carry. Some people say it's not GTA anymore if you have to worry about how many bullets are left in your clip, but on the other hand - it gives more deepness to the gameplay and more reason to spend money on weapons.

Simple solution mate, just play like this yourself. I do. If you still have bullets, don't reload until your mag's empty.

I think the actual menu/HUD selection will be more like RDR's, using the left shoulder button (L1 or LB) to bring it up and the right stick to select

Then they can free up the directional <-, -> buttons for the positive/negative reply or reactions to people, like in GTA SA.

The weapons were great but online was terrible, although that's probably down to connection speed blush.gif

Because people tend to mindlessly reload all the time. It's smarter to use up all of your ammo instead of reloading, where you'd drop the clip and lose the ammo inside.

(Unless you pick it up and store it, although nobody really does that except from the IDF.)
