Ritchie360
Hey guys long time ago since i last posted. I have some trouble with GTA IV. I have an okay PC, and canyourunit.com told me that I could easily run GTA IV in MAX mode. However even in the lowest of settings, the game is still laggy at some points, with vsync ON and OFF. Here are my specs, what am I overlooking? Intel® Core i7 CPU 860 @ 2.80GHz 2.8 GHz Performance Rated at: 7 GHz 8.2 GB RAM GeForce GTX 460 Windows 8 64bit NVIDIA High Definition Audio All drivers are up to date, I had the same problem with Windows 7. What am I overlooking? I would love to run GTA IV on max settings and lag free, but lagfree is a start. Any advise?
unc13bud
turn off your hyperthreading in the bios (if you can) and naw, that setup is not enough to run max - i have i5-750 overclocked to 3.4 ghz automatically by bios with gtx 480 and was not able to run maximum (windows 7 64 bit with 4 gbs memory)
Ritchie360
Whats wrong with the specs mate? And hyperthreading cant be turned off.
Brutal Ass-Master 9000
I'm getting serious lag on GTA IV. It ran at a playable and stable FPS until I decided to reinstall W7, now it runs like crap. Am I missing something? I tried swapping out a 550Ti for a 7770 and it hasn't changed anything. Any ideas what could cause it to stop working all of a sudden? unc13bud
Whats wrong with the specs mate? And hyperthreading cant be turned off. depends on the motherboard\bios. it was one of these threads: http://www.overclock.net/t/1321556/gamers-...ng-on-or-off/10 http://hardforum.com/printthread.php?t=1507699&pp=40 http://forums.anandtech.com/printthread.php?t=331861&pp=100 http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?act=Pri...&f=240&t=445477 http://www.pcgameshardware.com/aid,694495/...viewed/Reviews/ It ran at a playable and stable FPS until I decided to reinstall W7, now it runs like crap how did you reinstall it? did you format the hard drive completely, then install? and are you using an ssd thats been optimized
Brutal Ass-Master 9000
how did you reinstall it? did you format the hard drive completely, then install? and are you using an ssd thats been optimized I installed W7 on an SSD using a disc and an external DVD drive. GTA IV is on a HDD though, I've reinstalled it as well, but it doesn't seem to make a difference.
unc13bud
exactly, it doesn't make a difference. but like i was alluding to before, i RE-installed w7 on samsung ssd without formatting and optimizing using samsung's utility and it performed terribly. i was actually glad when the 30 days was up, so i could reformat
brian.
Guys, I get 35+ fps steady right now no problem with: 6gb, 550ti, q8400 2.66ghz I was having serious slowdowns and lag and I couldn't figure out why a few days ago - Lo and behold, somehow clip capture got turned on! Check if your clip capture is enabled, that will hurt your performance if your pc is like mine. My settings are 1680x1050, high textures, high shadows, very high reflections, everything is basically maxed except view distance and I do not use night shadows or "very high" shadows, just high. My view/detail distances are 31 and 51. Oh, and water is on low cause I rarely ever see it anyway and anything higher than medium starts to look too tiled/fake anyway for me. Hope it helps someone to tweak to better fps
Brutal Ass-Master 9000
It's still not working after another W7 install. I think I'll try my luck with W8 and see how things go.
