Why jail on every bust would suck.

I swear to god, the ideas in this thread make me want to chuck my f*cking laptop out the window.

If they make you spend any more than 30 seconds in a jail cell I'll mail Rockstar my mummified sh*t.

No jail. Just no. They could have one in the map that's fine, but to FORCE us to go jail every time we get busted? f*ck that. That defeats the purpose of GTA. GTA is about being able to do stuff you would never do without any real consequences. When you got busted in IV, you lost your weapons and some money. That seemed like a harsh enough penalty to me. I can't believe people actually want this sh*t. Wow.

The jail should be there. Who gets busted anyways? If the police are after me, I ain't going out like a bitch. I'm fighting to the death, and shooting sh*t up. f*ck going to jail. Escape or die. mad.gif

Well, I'd like a jail like in RDR where there was a kind of cinematic. Other then that is too much IMO.

I'm not disagreeing with you. It really does seem stupid. GTA is about the world, not being locked down. But all you have to do is NOT GET BUSTED

I just reload my last save after getting busted, so I really don't care either way.

However, in the spirit of playing devil's advocate, going to jail after getting busted in V could be cool (i.e., I might actually have incentive to get busted) if:

1) the busted protag is only behind bars for a short time (like 1-2 in-game days) before they automatically post bail (classic busted... just delayed)

2) the other protags can bail out the busted protag early at a cost to their own money/inventory

3) the busted protag has the option to break out of jail via an elaborate mini-game

4) other jailhouse mini-games (arm wrestling, card games, etc.) are available to the busted protag should the player want to remain in jail rather than switch to a free protag

5) the busted protag can start and engage in prison fights and riots

I liked the way Mafia II did it. It was only 1 chapter in the game, but you actually got to do stuff like prison fights. And what I really loved about the game was how the entire atmosphere of the setting changed when you were out.

It definitely would not work in GTA V unless it was a story based thing. Going to prison each time you get busted would be awful.

With the amount of Heists there are, One is bound to not go as planned and cause one of them to get imprisoned. As far as getting jailed after every time you're busted, it might be a little TOO much. But to have a few missions for a break-out or even a few months time period would be pretty decent.

I always load my previous save if I die or go to jail. I also save after every single mission. So I finish the game with 0 deaths and 0 arrests.

agree.. i think from 1-3 stars it should be a fine. money gets taken away if you are caught by the police.

I play skyrim too. They have a mission where you're essentially in a mining prison, Ciddhna Mine. They pulled it off so it was fun, at first you have to talk with higher ranking prisoners, to get things done. Theres an Orc guarding the door to a leader of the people in the prison, and you have to get him a shiv, which would be the equivalent of a shank in todays prison. So you pull some strings, get him a shiv, and then you get to talk with the guy he was protecting you from, and the plot continues to thicken, you have to kill another prisoner (the one who made you the shiv) to prove your loyalty, and then everyone gets to bust out of the prison all at the same time. It was pretty fun.

Skyrim is a free-roaming game as well, and you're confined when you're in the prison, but it gives the story element for the city of Markarth a nice twist. I think they could do something similarly in GTA V and its prison.
